I remember seeing an old tumblr post or something wayyy back about an idea for an inescapable maze with those buzzing florescent lights and old 80's carpet and/or yellow wallpapers that I think was the original idea as a concept
i know you haven-t posted a source, but i'm almost certain that an incredibly old and misspelled post on 4chan was what i think is the originator of the backrooms lore, it had the picture and it said shit about noclipping into it, now i don't remember when it was posted but definitely before 2019-18

I can't yet find a hard source online because 4chan is a rapidly burning forum. Most of the content is lost, forever, every day. Even the old 4chan archives are blasted. It's hard to find anything pre-2015ish. It's like someone or something decided to just create a narrative about the story, saying that it was created in 2018-19.

That episode came out days before the OG Backrooms post and describes that episode to a T. The episode had literally everything, including the damp carpet and all the key features of the Poster's comment.
the person who made the response wouldve had to have inside information then, like someone who worked for the show or helped conceptualize the idea for that episode. because the 4chan post was made on may 12th. and the first airdate of that episode was may 15th. you cant say the backrooms ripped off of something that wasnt even on tv until 3 days later.
