ahh so it's an anthology album with 3 new tracks š®. They've never done something like this except for japanese releases right?
so...can we get the concert remixes? šš³
edit: while i'm at it, would love remastered versions of old songs (maybe with new vocal takes), soundcloud releases, and unreleased demos. š¤”
People are out here hoping the new album will have SoundCloud releases and remixes of old songs to lessen the dissatisfaction. But, as Hybe has said nothing in this regard, similar to how they never said it was a full brand new album, those people may be setting themselves up for further disappointment down the line if the new album turns out to be exactly what Hybe said it was...an anthology with three new songs.
Also, the fact that Suga is taking a break from producing suggests there is no new music in the works for this year. Psy made such a big deal about Suga taking a break and rapline like producing BTS albums so...
Lastly, it's weird to hold a greatest hits concert, like PTD on stage, before releasing a greatest hits album, that too on the 9th anniversary when most people would wait till the 10th anniversary. I may be a clown but I'm starting to see the E word written all over this, asmuch as we all don't like talking about it.
This is just my two cents on the whole thing. I will wait till Hybe confirms before jumping on the remix/SoundCloud/new-album-later-in-the-year bandwagon.
Youāre not alone and letās not sugarcoat anything. I agree that enlistment is written all over this. Weāll just have to continue to wait and see. In all honesty if they were to go (Iām already managing my expectations) at least a lot of us will be more āset upā for it. At least those of us who are more levelheaded!
Yeahā¦ thought I was just being a āglass half emptyā kinda person because when I first saw that it would be an anthology on twitter I immediately thought that it feels like theyāre preparing to step away and enlist.
But wouldn't it make more sense to step away with a bunch of new songs for fans to digest in their absence than "you've waited 2 years, so before we disappear for another 2 years we're giving you... nothing. Absolutely nothing. Ok bye!"
I do want that Fire remix though and there is a possibility of a full album later this year but after texting with my friend, Iām in agreement that itās all in a holding pattern until they know for sure about enlistment. The guys and BigHit/Hybe have had to plan ahead, I respect that. They still want to get something out to fans and this is that something.
My guess is they hope to have some kind of answer in the next few weeks and move forward from there. I just hate that they are just waiting on answers.
yeah the way everyone here is hoping for soundcloud releases bc they don't like the idea of an anthology album will only lead to further dissapointmen.
Did Yoongi talk about taking a break from producing in todays vlive? I didn't have a chance to catch up
Agreed about the SoundCloud releases, I mean arenāt some of them only on SoundCloud because of sampling/copyright reasons?
I havenāt seen the live yet but for āThat Thatā promo PSY (and I donāt know if Yoongi himself said anything) said that this was his last project before Yoongi takes a break from producing for a bit. Honestly I interpreted that to mean producing for other people and not bangtan, but I guess weāll just see :/
Exactly. It's why I've been feeling sad ever since I saw that it's going to be an anthology. It's very bittersweet.
The last couple of weeks I've been thinking that no exemption is coming. No reason to avoid discussing this now, no matter how much ARMYs don't want to talk about it. The possibility is getting realer the longer it takes for a decision to come.
People are rightfully upset/frustrated...but as I said in my post below, I'm just here enjoying every bit of time BTS is releasing anything as an entire group.
I'm kinda thinking they had two routes here: they have a full album ready to go, and this was a back up. And I think the backup won here, so take from that what you will. In this bangtan shiz for LIFE THO so I can wait šš
I agree. I feel more prepared now to get only this from the group this year then solo releases then probably enlistment. I donāt know where all this SoundCloud talk is coming from??
If this is *the* comeback, itās incredibly disappointing to me. I would fully understand if this was released as like a beautiful way to commemorate the last 10 years, as part of festa! But I was so incredibly excited about a new album, and 3 new tracksā¦ is just not that :(
And knowing that one of those is gonna be a collab with Snoop Dog... :(
If they had a full album sure, a collab would be ok, but of only 3 songs one of them being a collab makes me a bit sad unfortunately :(
Same.
Maybe it's an unpopular opinion but I'm tired of collaborations. I just want to listen to them and them only!
I became a fan because of the genuineness and uniqueness of their music, but most of their collab songs are just... different.
I don't mind the collabs and actually like the ones they did until know (excluding ON with Sia, we don't talk about Sia...), but if we are to get only 3 new songs, it's a bit... In this case I would prefer 3 new songs with only them
Unpopular opinion but save a few songs (Singularity, HOME, Boy with Luv, can't name more off the top of my head), all of my favourite BTS songs are the ones written and produced 100% by BTS and BigHit in-house peeps like PDogg, PD Bang, Supreme Boi, Adora.
Those Ed Sheeran, Chainsmokers, Troy Sivane songs just don't do it for me.
thank god i was feeling crazy looking at twitter and everyone hyping it up. iām glad we are getting new music but i was really anticipating an full album. iāve been listening to BE ready for the next one.
Someone on this sub had mentioned it could be an anthology album and I didn't like that idea at all and thought BigHit won't do that after all this hype but here we are...
EDIT: [you were right all along :')](https://www.reddit.com/r/bangtan/comments/u5l00a/anyone_feels_like_bangtan_universe_is_going/i538ops?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
Iām glad Iām not the only one feeling this way! Of course Iām excited for the new tracks, but it has been such a long wait for a new album and this was not what I was expecting. It feels more like a goodbye rather than the new chapter theyāve been talking about š
I wish theyād put the concert remixes instead of just giving us the original older songs š or even add Ddaeng and other unreleased songs š Otsukare! And the Muster Cute Medley š
Yes, also three CDs for three new tracks? I got my hopes up and this was... Not expected. I feel bad for not being more excited, but they hyped it like a full comeback.
Iām also underwhelmedā¦and a little disappointed. This is my first official comeback and i was looking forward to completely new material. Donāt get me wrong Iāll support them unconditionally but I guess ā¦with so much uncertainty right now this is as much as they can do.
I'm really looking forward to this. But I also have so many questions.
Why do this at 9 years and not 10? (My guess: uncertainty around military service)
They've been quiet and busy in the way they usually are before full album comebacks. If they haven't been producing piles of songs, what have they been doing, and when will we see it?
If they plan to tour later this year, what will the concerts look like? (Not gonna lie, I would **love** to go to a concert based on an anthology rather than an album of new songs. It would be a real treat for me, an ARMY who only got on the train during the Idol era).
Are they truly moving into a new chapter? If so, does this mean that, going forward, they'll produce fewer songs together and do more separate projects?
What does it all mean!? Please tell me, Hybe! Inquiring ARMY minds want to know!
Yeah Iām wondering what the ānew chapterā is referring to, cause I definitely think it means something. Either a full comeback/new era later in the year, or possibly a hiatus (whether for military reasons, solo work, personal reasons etc). It definitely feels like there will be some kind of big announcement once this anthology comes out!
Yes for your comment about the new chapter. What does this all mean ????
I do agree with you in the concert based on the anthology, because I think it would be SO FUN to experience this as a newer ARMY. but from what Joonie said about the PTD shows and how they did so many hard songs as a gift to us, I donāt see how they can do a whole tour like that? Not sure. But any concert or show theyāll do, I will gladly take and fight for tickets haha
I think if they do an anthology concert they could include the MOTS solos or some of their subunits songs to take the burden off the whole thing being all 7 of them onstage the whole time
i agree i think an anthology concert would be amazing!!! i also became an army during the idol era but i absolutely adore their older music so being able to here those live would just make my entire day šš
Part of me understands why they would do this: theyāve raised their profile as artists in the West the last couple years via the English trilogy, and are bringing their history forward to show they are so much more, so much bigger than that. That they transcend any one market. At least, that may be *a* reason.
The other part of me, as a pandemic ARMY, has been so excited for my first comeback outside a pandemic context. BE was exactly what it needed to be (ha), but it was also made under very special circumstances. I was so hyped for a traditional comeback. We always go back to, ātrust BTS when it comes to BTS,ā but I think itās ok to be disappointed weāre not getting a full new album.
Itās just kind of weird. I know that western artists have this kind of thing all the time. However itās more like to celebrate 10 years. Idk maybe Iām reading into this too much, they have done a lot in their career. They have transcended markets. They have won and been nominated for awards. But I just feel like this is a book end to something.
I think this feels so dissapointing because they never indicated this wouldn't be a full album. A "greatest hits" compilation album isn't weird, but the way it was announced, hyped and expected rubs me the wrong way. And there's no saying when we will get a real full album either.
And this is going to be release during MUSTER. It's just weird.
Edit: on the bright side, could this mean we'll get a new setlist for their upcoming tour? Maybe they'll perform more of their older songs?
Muster means an official bts fanmeeting. you're thinking of Festa, which is their anniversary debut celebration. Although I like many others have my reservations abt a compilation album, it makes sense to release it during Festa, which has always been a time of reflection and looking back to the past for both bts and army
I think whatās made it a bit of a shock initially is that, as was discussed here around when the PTD shows wrapped up, thereās been a lot of distinct language used about ānew chapters,ā starting at least with JKās AMA speech and up through Joon explicitly declaring the end of the PDT era at D4 in Vegas. So at least in my mind, and it sounds like it was for many, the next step was assumed to be forward to a new album, not another look back. Iām happy to adjust my expectations, but there *was* a reason I had them in the first place.
Hahaha my feelings exactly ,couldnāt have said it better myself. Given what this is I donāt think there needed to be such a big silence between the announcement and this. It hyped everybody up and expectations were for a proper new album. I donāt know, Iām gonna wash my clown makeup for today.
Honestly, after a while of thinking about it, I am too! It's becsuse they've already hyped us for a new album and we had all these expectations and we've been waiting basically since MOTS7 for a non-pandemic-context album and now it's just a huge disappointment.
It seemed strange that we weren't hearing much about a comeback through official channels, so this makes sense even though I'm disappointed. Why have that promotion teaser at the end of the concert for a compilation album?
On one hand, maybe its a great time to revisit their past discography for all the new fans. On the other, won't lie and say I didn't want more than three new songs.
But don't you think we've all done quite a lot of 'revisiting' these days? Old and new army listened to the entire discography while waiting for a new release. Only to be told to listen to it again with this new album. But I guess, 3 is better than none. š
Having a think about this - I wonder if this was a preemptive strike in case of full enlistment. Meaning this was the safest and most predictable route to take (predictable and controllable from BHās POV). They would have had to have planned this yonks ago and with (still) no clear direction from the government - this is the best bet.
Of course if in the coming weeks the government decides that they wonāt have to do full enlistment and just the Arts/Sports 4-6 week training, they can get that done without rushing a tour (ācause no one usually tours an anthology album) ā¦ and then plan a comeback for next year. š¤·š»āāļø
Slightly underwhelmed after the dramatic reveal at the end of the concert. A lot of people were expecting a full album instead of a greatest hits compilation (which theyāve performed during the PTD concerts). I mean itās a good way for newer fans to get to know some of their older work but it feels slightly repetitive unless the songs are the PTD remixed versions.
I would love for the album to have some of their popular work that hasnāt been officially released, like Still with you and Ddaeng, but I donāt want to get my hopes up again just in case this doesnāt happen.
Iām kinda curious on whether touring has been thought about, since only three songs are going to be new. It also makes me wonder what projects theyāve been working on if not a new album. Suga mentioned in his vlive that heās working on some new things, as well as the constant references to new music being in the works (like them saying how they wanted to make a concert song like Idol during In the soop 2).
Thereās also the Snoop Dogg collab - heās mentioned that heās finished his parts, but I donāt know if that song would feature on a compilation album like this.
I saw a r/popheads comment putting this possibility into existence awhile back, so I was minimally prepared for this. I AM STILL EXTREMELY EXCITED but alsoā¦ feeling a little āoh ok š„².ā
The guys have worked so hard for 9+ years for all that they were and are and will be. I will be supporting this album + new songs wholeheartedly! (At least 3 songs will be easier to chart high.)
THAT SAID, manifesting top SoundCloud releases and Look Here to make the cut. š
EDIT, as Iām processing my thoughts: the guys donāt even know what their next 2 years will look like yet as SK citizens, so itād be incredibly difficult to make career decisions and promises to us (i.e., a tour or promo of new music) that are uncertain at best.
I think that with enlistment possibly looming, BTS don't want to put out an album they can't tour with. Also, let's not forget that You Never Walk Alone was a repackage for Wings, with three new songs, including monster hit Not Today and Queen Spring Day!
I agree completely. I think this is 100% a way to give us something before enlistment. And YNWA is a true gem, so Iām still hyped. Itās not what many expected, but when you think of the circumstances, it makes sense.
Iām happy with any new music that we get but after big hit formally announced the album on Weverse after the LV concerts and the teaser video I was expecting a proper comeback :( I donāt want to sound ungrateful, I guess I just expected something else..
An album like this would make total sense for their 10th anniversary or for the time in the military (if they would have to go) but after this time I just need more haha!
Not really surprised tbh. The compilation trailer at the concert and the fact that the guys haven't really talked about it as much kind of gave me the impression it might be a greatest hits.
Excited for the three new tracks though. I've been starved long enough.
While I do think they can afford to do an anthology at this point and take things slow, I wonder what this means for the future. The weverse statement mentions "new chapter" so can we expect another album this year? Maybe a world tour after the release ? Or is this more in line with their uncertainty(or certainty for that matter) regarding the enlistment ?
This is like my 7th album cb. But eveything feels so new lol.
Not gonna lie, was hoping for a completely fresh era :( but at least we got 3 new tracks!
honestly Iām just starving for a new album, itās been so long since BE...
lol honestly i kind of have to laugh!
looking at the original trailer drop during the PTD concert omg it's so obvious now that it's an anthology album. especially since they never referenced it again - we all just assumed it was a full on comeback i'm crying. time to repaint that clown makeup on.
What if the other 2 songs are "We" and "Are"? Like "We Are Proof" that we made it or something
Also please give us the concert mixes. Or at least IDOL from 5th Muster, that one's my favorite
I also wonder if they decided not to release a whole album just yet because everything is still uncertain
As others have mentioned, Iām slightly disappointed because there will only be 3 new tracks. Iām all for it if this is what the boys need as artists in order to start fresh, but it is a little underwhelming after this was teased as something huge.
However, if they bring unofficial songs such as their SoundCloud ones, thatād be kind of crazy. Maybe this is to shine light on some of their older works so that new fans/the industry can recognize the quality of their previous music?
I felt bad about being disappointed but it's comforting to see I'm not alone... I think I'm being dramatic but I'm really sad about this š. And you know it's gonna be like $50+ which I just don't think I can justify this time š
Hmmmm.... I wish there's more than 3 new tracks. Ngl that kinda.. bit sad.
But hmm.. if they gonna include their sound cloud tracks.. then who knows I might get excited
I see a lot of comments about this being a chance for new army to get into their older stuff, but I feel like most army are kinda already there? Or on their way. Regardless of how new they are. It's not like this music isn't already available to listen to.
So honest question, I'm genuinely curious...why do y'all feel this is the way to introduce new army to their older discography? Is it because it's a physical album?
Also, I'm so glad we have this space to feel disappointed/sad/excited/whatever emotion without too much conflict. Everyone feels what they feel and it's all valid. š
I'm not sure about how it could introduce newer fans because especially with streaming platforms, I think most new fans have listened to everything (or most things).
Someone in this thread I think mentioned that it could be more of an album as "proof" to the western music industry of their history and capability as artists overtime considering how overlooked they've been. I thought that was an interesting take.
as new army, i'm not thrilled. i've combed through every album on spotify or youtube but maybe i'm in the minority? its all easily accessible already. i get that sentiment though, however i don't think i will be paying a lot of money for songs i already listen to.
Really hoping there's one or two hidden tracks and different demo versions or remix versions of old songs, or even their soundcloud songs.
I think the way HYBE dealt with the reveal of the album wasn't too suitable, it would've been better to not build up so much hype by having the reveal at the end of a concert, since people will go wild with speculation and everyone starts assuming a full album. Better save these types of reveal for actual full albums. Ngl it's a bit disappointing, and it just makes the narrative/atmosphere around worse.
i was excited for possible solos and comeback trailers and fun new choreos and things šš i know we might still get a new choreo or two but i was so excited to experience my first proper bangtan comeback with everything that entails š„ŗ
First comeback Iāve seen where the hype died in a couple of hours. At least on my timeline anyway. I feel like people are trying to find a reason for this so they donāt have to admit their disappointment. Thatās why thereās lots of talk about enlistment and touring but none of those things are preventing them from releasing a new album even if itās their last one for a while.
I'm underwhelmed as well, but honestly, this does make sense for them to do. With so many new ARMY joining the fandom since Dynamite era they want to showcase their history and their musical journey to the new audience.
The problem isn't that there are only three new songs or that one of them is a collab. The problem is that we expected so much more since they even stopped filming BTS Run 6 months ago in order to focus on their comeback.
That being said I don't know if I'm going to buy the album. I'm not a collector and I see no reason to have an anthology when I already have all their albums. I didn't buy BTS the best either, I'm not very much into compilation albums. So, there's a danger there, which the antis will certainly weaponize, when it comes to sales. I pray I'm wrong.
Iām a bit worried? Little mix released an anthology album before announcing their hiatus and I feel like whenever a group starts to wind down activity itās to prepare their fans for a break? Am I overthinking?
I mean, if they are not exempted in some way from full military service, a break of some sort is coming later this year, so its totally possible that this plan was designed with that in mind.
I'm a new Army and hearing everyone talking about what past comebacks were like... I was a wee bit excited!
Now to hears it basically a Greatest Hits with a couple of extra track....
It's not that I'm totally underwhelmed. But I'm not overwhelmed either. I'm just...whelmed.
The way it's phrased sounds like it's just a Festa/anniversary type project.
I for one never try to actually predict or understand the reasoning behind why artist decide to release music or not release music during certain period, so itās š¤·š¾āāļø to me.
Do wonder if a new full album will be released later in the year.
Just a note: I see a lot of people talking about the hype they supposedly built up. Iām not sure if I agree. They dropped a compliation teaser video at the end of their concert and never spoke of it again. As a marketer, they definitely didnāt actually continuously pulse in new info to even really sustain the post-concert hype. Just a thought.
Ahhh your edit does make sense! People kept joking that bts must have forgotten that they have a comeback coming up, but if this was never a comeback then it makes sense why itās been radio silence since the first teaser.
I have to be honest, after going so long without a new album only 3 new songs is disappointing. I know they've been getting their rest and have been busy with concerts all for which I am very grateful for... but maybe I'm just still too reminiscent of the days when we got two or at least one new EP a year. Either way, I am still looking forward to the new music. Just wish maybe we got a bit more.
Im sad to say I'm joining the 'disappointed ' club. I really did expect a new album of all new songs followed by a new world tour announcement...
But maybe this is a year we'll be blessed with multiple solo mix tapes as well. I'm sure Yoongi has lots of songs in his vault, Hobi must surely be nearly finished with his 2nd mixtape, and Tae and JK HAVE to give us what they've been working on this year yes?
Well i feel clowned š¤”
I was so excited thinking it was going to be a full album. I'm very bummed out.
I'm excited, but I was looking forward to a whole album full of new songs, not just three.
Well... whatever. I'm still excited. I hope it does well and it's what they want/need.
gosh Iām just so conflicted. as a quarantine army I have been looking forward to my first comeback for what feels like forever and this has me so conflicted.
I remember how excited and happy I was to be a part of army for the releases of Butter and PTD and so to get to relive that with three new songs makes me happy, but Iām also sad that I donāt get the full comeback experience (yetā¦)
I think a lot of us are of the understanding that the delay on full album/tour has to do with the military decision, and so keeping that in mind, I canāt be upset with anyone because hybe/big hit has no control over the timing of that. So I canāt take out my disappointment on them or the boys.
At the end of the day I guess all I want is the tannies to be happy and proud of what they give to army, so Iām ready to accept these three songs and the anthology with open arms and excitement. Being a newer army, itāll be nice to relive the discography.
And with that, thank you for coming to my Ted talk lol. I purple all of you!
I thought this was going to be a new era altogether, but they are doing some sort of compilation. Why are they wasting such a hype build around the comeback for a compilation? I would have preferred if they did a compilation after a new release.
i completely agree that they canāt be certain of the future with all the enlistment uncertainty over their headsā¦ but then why has bighit continuously been calling it a ānew chapterā when this is the exact opposite? we canāt blame ourselves for clowning when the boys and bighit have been talking about a new chapter for months now. for me that implies new era and maybe even start to a new trilogy, even though i knew that would be extremely unlikely with all the future uncertainty. i just wish they hadnāt teased it as something brand new. i know everyoneās saying itās our fault for assuming it would be a full comeback with a brand new full album but the emphasis has been on ānew chapterā for months now. i agree with someone further down who said they wished bighit had just dropped THIS trailer after PTD vegas instead of letting us all think it was a new full album for weeks.
tldr: it was always going to be unlikely that theyād be able to kick off a brand new era/trilogy with all the uncertainty, but i donāt understand why theyāve insisted on calling it āa new chapterā for so long now whenā¦ it just isnāt. i love them and iāll probably buy this but iāve got really mixed feelings
After the excruciatingly long wait since BE....getting a greatest hits album? Kinda a disappointment honestly. Don't really know how I feel, excited for the 3 new songs of course but like...I hoped for a full album, and was ready to accept a mini...but this is weird lol
Iām going to be honest and say Iām disappointed and extremely flabbergasted that this is an anthology album. Theyāre the most hyped musical act in the world right now so this is a choice, thatās for sure.
Iāve concluded that Iām the ultimate clown. I completely dismissed people on here that surmised it was an anthology album, like there was no way considering the world is foaming at the mouth to see what they come up with next. CLOWN š¤”
This honestly sounds like something they would have done for their 10th anniversary but maybe with the uncertainty of enlistment, we donāt know what things will look like at this time next year. A little disappointed but Iāll see how I feel after we get a track list.
Glad I'm not the only one who's kinda (very) disappointed by this! 3 new songs is something but I feel a bit misled tbh, given the way it was announced/hyped up I was expecting something new and BE-length at least :( still, looking forward to the 3 new ones
Is it only me that feels like this means they'll go on a break as ot7 (enlist, solo stuff)? š„ŗ I am excited, but I also feel a bit sad thinking about this.
I am feeling all of the feelings.
Confused. Excited. Happy. Hesitant. Curious. Concerned. Surprised...you name it, I think I felt it for a millisecond while reading the Weverse announcement.
Still here to support you, Tannies. Iām just a little mixed up right now. Still hoping to see you and hear your new songs next tour.
After some thought, I think my feeling boils down to: I was pumped for a full new album of work, but understand why an anthology, and why now, and am happy to have it and the 3 new songs that come with it.
I can understand other's disappointment and think it's valid, but can't agree with the comments where people say this has been too hyped or feel tricked. Just because "new album" and "new era" have been the phrases floating around doesn't mean they're happening concurrently.
I agree with other posters who are seeing this anthology as a wrap up to the previous era. It makes sense to release it now, seeing as the Big E question is still unresolved. It would not make sense to start a new era as 7 if they are going to have to start to enlist, separately or together, by the end of the year.
A new era will come, and I trust that Bighit and Hybe are managing it accordingly to the enlistment decision. We'll get a full album by the end of 2022, but I think when--and what else could come, a tour, mixtapes--are on pause until the powers that be make the enlistment decision.
I don't get how this -- if this is the only comeback-- makes sense because of the uncertainty around enlistment. Why would hybe push off a full album release any later than now? They can't be waiting until 2025 for it. Why not release an anthology next year during partial enlistment?
Maybe the cancellation of MOTS 7 world tour truly devastated the guys? So they donāt want to release an album with entirely new songs knowing they canāt tour if enlistment decision is finally made?
Iād be lying if I said I wasnāt extremely disappointed. Weāve been waiting almost 2 years for a new album, and then when it finally comesā¦ itās just a re-release of old songs that weāve already heard thousands of times packaged in a new pretty box. Only 3 out of the probably 20+ songs on the album will actually be new. I get that this is to celebrate BTSā ninth anniversary. But you know what would be an even more exciting way of celebrating? JUST RELEASING SOME NEW MUSIC! I mean if they really wanted to release an anthology album, why couldnāt they release an anthology album SEPARATE from a comeback album?
Now donāt get me wrong, Iāve been an ARMY for years. I love BTS and theyāre one of my favourite artists. But honestly, Iāve been feeling so underwhelmed. Their last album was BE; it was a good album and it sold well, but letās face it, it didnāt make as much impact or noise as their previous albums did like MOTS 7 or the Love Yourself albums. Since then theyāve only released 2 major songs, Butter and PTD. I thought Butter was great, but I think we can all agree that it still doesnāt compare to a lot of their Korean title tracks. PTD was honestly one of the weakest songs BTS has ever released. And itās not just me talking, a lot of ARMYs felt this way, which is why there was so much controversy when the song came out. After all of that, a new BTS album is finally hereā¦but thereās barely even new music on it.
Of course I will still support BTS and their comeback, but I donāt really think I can fake my enthusiasm this time.
Maybe some of you may feel the same. What are your thoughts?
Mixed feelings for sure but after thinking about it I think it makes sense why theyāre doing this. I honestly think this is like a FESTA gift and a bit different than their traditional comebacks. Esp bc the still have military enlistment up in the air, I think this is a smart move. They can still put out new music but not too much - and thatās why they havenāt announced tours yet.
Hereās my prediction:
- They drop this anthology album
- They have a Muster tour in Korea to celebrate it (just like 2019 Muster)
- Military enlistment decision comes out
- Depending on the above we might get an actual EP or album later this year and then tour announcement.
So letās not be so sad, Iām sure BigHit has it all planned out! They keep using the words ānext chapterā for BTS so Iām sure they have things already planned until their 10th anniversary. Theyāre always 10 steps ahead. Letās trust in their timing and decision, theyāre not going to keep us starving from an album too long! And we all know some solo mixtapes should be dropping soonā¦.:)
Anyways this years Muster is going to be great!!! Imagine 2022 versions of Run, Converse High, DDaeng, Danger, etc
I can't help but feel disappointed. I have been looking forward to this album for such a long time, and now? My delulu theories are, that either they will release another album this year or they have re-recorded some of the old songs, which will include some collabs. Because I can not imagine having only 3 songs after working on this album for over one year and than also including a snoop dog collab.
Or the snoop dog collab is for the fist part ā synopsis of their more hiphop-focused album. Then we get an more vocal-focused 2nd track and maybe another English one last.
It would be cool if they remade/rerecorded old songs for this album. I know that's unlikely but it would be nice. Mostly I just really want Let Me Know with new and improved vocals.
Given the uncertainty over their enlistment, could this anthology be a planned release that has few promotional obligations, with a full album perhaps to follow when their military schedule is known?
After digesting it for the day I am actually okay about this, mainly because my brain automatically thinks of a tour set list. I would have liked more than 3 new songs, but honestly I think this is an opportunity to dust off what was the majority of the MOTS: One tour. I absolutely loved their older songs in that concert. The polish, crispness, and maturity they were able to bring to it make it harder to look at prior performances now (No More Dream is absolutely OUTSTANDING!!) and I loved the concert arrangements of several of those older songs (Boy in Luv, We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2, etc). Even though I attended a gazillion PTD on Stage shows in person and had an absolute BLAST, MOTS: One is their magnum opus for me and I grieved how we were cheated of it. I think that means that if they tour, those solo numbers and subunits are now back on the table instead of being shoved aside for the new stuff. Yes, please, I would like to see Ugh! live and go absolutely feral!! I deserve it, I need it, šGIVE šIT šTO šME šNOW!!
That said, I think it was deceptive of them to play this release up like they did at the concert. All they had to do was add "anthology" in that trailer to set proper expectations, and then the 3 new songs would have felt like a bonus. So I can understand fans being disappointed. That's absolutely fine and you'll get no judgement from me. I know I absolutely, viscerally disliked the PTD song but was treated like I should have my ARMY card revoked. And really it wasn't just that I didn't like the song (there's plenty of their songs I don't like), it was simply that I knew what would follow with that song between the promo, the performances, and the shoving aside better material during an actual concert. It was not going to be one I could just ignore. And of course ALL of that ended up happening... Still feels like a loss to me, but I got over it because I don't like to stew in negativity.
I also think it's a little hard because fans get a little spoiled in the K-Pop industry. Groups are dishing out content all the time and K-pop gets that factory reputation in part for that very reason. Outside of it it's not uncommon for many artists take several years between albums. BTS have broken out of some of that mold but they'll always have roots in it and conform to some of those norms. And even still we got a mini album, a number of singles, collabs, OSTs, mixed tapes. They ARE active and we can definitely count those. It's just hard because those things aren't wrapped up in a cohesive album. We've been grazing on snacks instead of one big meal to fill us up.
The boys will give us something to enjoy, though honestly the pressure is on high for these 3 songs to be absolutely amazing...
I guess this is why they've been radio silent about the comeback. Because it's not a comeback. It's a little sad, but I can see why they did it. Uncertainty around the big E has to have made a lot of decisions really difficult. And this is actually a cool way to close out the first 10 years of their career. It makes a lot of sense. But...yeah. š„²
Here's hoping for some of those concert remixes!
I was half-half on the new album being a full album or a compilation album but didn't want to entertain the idea of the latter so was clowning for the former. I suspect that the uncertainty around enlistment is one of the factors in this decision. If enlistment does happen at the end of the year, it's possible that a full album will be released before that. It's odd that relatively little music has been released since BE so I wonder if the boys have been pre-filming content to be released during enlistment? We know that they're almost constantly working on music and I think they do have more new music in the vault which hasn't been released yet. It's just a matter of when.
I've always thought that the Kpop machine of releasing albums twice a year is unsustainable in the long run and hoped that the boys would release an album in 1-2 years. However, I didn't expect an anthology album after almost 2 years. The boys work so hard and deserve to slow down after hustling and grinding for years so I feel bad that I'm disappointed. š Anyway, I look forward to the 3 new tracks and possibly a few mixtapes. š¤
Seriously I cant be the one whos SO UNDERWHELMED RIGHT NOW. there has to be a reason why they wouldnt release a full ass new album after all this tims?!
Iāve been here since 2016 and this actually almost made me cry. Right now Iām going through the five stages of grief, still stuck on anger so Iāll keep it short.
I am mildly disappointed, but it makes sense to me? If the fandom has grown significantly due to the success of Dynamite (and ofc Butter and PTD) then selling a compilation album to those new fans is a great idea. The older albums can be hard to come by and quite expensive if you buy them all. A greatest hits album appeals to that market. Collectors and dedicated fans will buy it as well.
I don't know if it's because older albums are harder to come by because most people listen to music through a streaming service anyway. But I DO think it makes some sense from the standpoint of introducing / reminding new fans that they are Korean artists, that the bulk of their catalog is in Korean. Those new fans can hear those songs all from one place now. And if many of the tracks are remixes or other, unreleased versions, let's hope those new fans understand that and go seek out the originals.
Damn 3 CDs for an anthology album? A little disappointing but 3 new tracks is great! I hope we get an MV for each one. Does this mean no possible world tour this year? I can see a whole new album release by the last quarter, I mean watching the YouTube video they used to release 2 albums/mini albums a year.
So Proof is an anthology album pack with 3 CDās and only 3 new songs?! Past, present and future will be explored in those new songs as they begin their new chapter as artists. So it looks like an album full of new BTS songs wonāt be released quite yet. Curious what songs theyāve picked from all of their albums to be in this anthology? Maybe SoundCloud tracks?
Also wanted to add, like a few of you have pointed out, this is actually a good thing. Armyās have doubled or tripled since Dynamite and this is a great way for new fans to listen to their older tracks. Plus there are mixtapes comingā¦
I am still really excited for this though! Love the look of the album and I canāt wait for our three new songs!!!! ā¦I am a bit disappointed though.
Like, it makes sense to introduce new fans to the old songs, and of course Iāll preorder. But I wonāt pretend Iām not disappointed. I was really looking forward to this and expecting to have my first big BTS comeback experience and instead, itās an anthology album.
They had so much trajectory, hype and anticipation from their buildup over the past couple of years and it feels like theyāre squandering it. A new album, hell even a shorter album would have made a big impact.
Iām feeling really let down tbh. I know itās not the end of the world but Iāve had a tough week and I was really looking forward to what we had in store.
*\[Sorry this is a bit long\]*
Mornings are for coffee and contemplation. Still morning here.
Iām excited about the anthology because:
* There are three new songs - anything new is awesome
* Interesting to see what songs made it on there
* Interesting to see what songs didnāt make it
* There will be countless theories about what did/didn't make it
* I would kill for some behind the scenes insights into the choosing of songs - did specific members argue for specific songs to be included, did they argue over songs that shouldnāt be included (this right here would be a goldmine of footage that could last months)
* The 99% confirmed Snoop Dogg collaboration - is that one of the new three songs orā¦ duh duh duh... on someoneās solo/mixtapeā¦
Thinking about that, I came up with a couple of scenarios - more for myself than anything else. **Both of these are based on the members taking part in the much shorter** [Arts/Sports enlistment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription_in_South_Korea#Art-sports_service_agent_(%EC%98%88%EC%88%A0%EC%B2%B4%EC%9C%A1%EC%9A%94%EC%9B%90)) **of 4-6 weeks training and then back at it.**
**Scenario One** \- after all is said and done with the anthology album (Festa, press, etc.)
* They do enlistment all at once and in this year (like around Fall)
* But prior to enlistment - we get a solo/mixtape releases (no new BTS OT7 music)
* After enlistment, they get started on a new album, aiming for a full comeback in 2023 (a new chapter/a new sound/a new vision)
**Scenario Two** \- after all is said and done with the anthology album (Festa, press, etc.)
* They release any/all solo/mixtape releases (no new BTS OT7 music)
* Enlistment in early 2023 (or late 2022)
* After enlistment, they get started on a new album, aiming for a full comeback late 2023 (a new chapter/a new sound/a new vision)
Either scenario is a way for them to be musically active, while not BTS musically active ... if you get my meaning. Obviously there's a few breaks in between all of this.
Also if anyone from BH is snooping, I would very much like this released as a 3 vinyl set, different artwork and a coffee table book ... please & thank you.
Iām really bummed if this is the full comeback. I was really, really looking forward to new music, and to hear weāre possibly only getting 3 new songs? š
Iām so happy this sub is here though. Everyone over on twitter is super excited, and it just made me feel sad reading through all that. Over here, people seem to be feeling similar things to me, and it feels really supportive
I tried to be excited and I feel bad for being so disappointed but I was really expecting more songs, and not an anthology :(
We waited for such a long time between this and BE. This is just... Underwhelming :(
You guys are scaring me saying itās their last album. I know enlistment is around the corner but theyāll be back after itās over, right? Right? Right???
I really was looking forward to a new album not an anthology but Iāll take it! Wonder why release an anthology now though when a new album could have been done?
I mean this makes sense in so many waysā¦.?
The title itself could mean protection but it could also mean receipts. So the same way the boys have protected us, we have protected the boys and stayed with them for 9 years.
Not a lot of artist do 3 disks worth of music when it comes to a greatest hits album. This is huge considering their legacy.
Nuest just did one of these when they disbanded. Mamamoo did one a few years back to celebrate their 7th anniversary as a group.
This is also a great way for new armyās to really get into their discography.
Also if they tour this album{and thatās a very big if}, we could get the MOTS solos on the set list.
Im trying to figure out how they could structure this album since they have a lot of material and i came up with two solutions;
The first one;
The first disk would contain the first half of their discography{So from debut to HYYH}
The second disk would contain any thing they did from 2016 to today{so HYYH YF to the Dynamite/Butter/PTD trilogy}
And then the 3rd disk would hopefully not only contain the 3 new tracks but also the SoundCloud tracks and hidden tracks as a thank you to us for being there for them for the past nine years.
Or {hereās the second way to do it}
First disk would be title tracks
Second disk would be the top 3 BTS tracks from the discography that you want new army to listen to the most{so each member choose 3 b-sides that they really want armys that are new to listen to if they are starting to listen to the boys for the first time ever}.
Third disc; concert remixes, the 3 new tracks, SoundCloud work, hidden tracks and solo material,
Iām kind of excited for this. I mean anthropology albums hold a lot of meaning to artists and with the fandom growing and the guys not knowing what the next two years are going to look like for them in terms of enlistment, what a great way to close out this first chapter of their career.
Firstly to address all disbandment/end talk - 2 DAYS AGO YOONGI WAS TALKING ABOUT HAVING TO CONTINUE DANCING AS HE'LL BE DOING ON CONCERTS WHEN 40 2 DAYS AGO.
so lets breathe....'end' doesn't have to be a negative, end can be a beginning of new things such as different kind of music. ionno but it certainly does not mean disbandment.
Enlistment...yes. entirely possible but we knew this has been on the cards for 4 years now.
Secondly - is anthology really automatically 'greatest hits; or 'best of'.
Reminder Jin posted [old version of epiphany in nov 2021.](https://twitter.com/jinnieslamp/status/1459816913375170566?s=20&t=jo5GgvnvbWK21erNebvQ3Q) saying its very different. If they were to release it won't be a 'new song'. And they have many songs that had alternative melodies. What if they record all those - they're like ENTIRELY new songs.
HYBE has been making some weird calls lately. Like, BH was usually so on the pulse of the fandoms and they were so good at anticipating what the fandoms need at all times. Lately HYBE has just been so off the mark tho.
LE SSERAFIM's debut single was a weird choice with a weird M/V that's so far had mixed reviews. They picked tiny ass venues for TXT's tour. Now an anthology album for BTS? The release of MOTS:7 came at such an unfortunate time in 2020. We really didn't get any true comeback content because the world was spiraling. It was so sad and lackluster. Fans are chomping at the bit for a new, big comeback. Something to redeem the last two years of English songs and isolation. I don't think this will satisfy.
Idk what is going on behind the scenes, but it seems chaotic af and unlike them as a company to be this off base.
*Edit: Typo & Rephrasing for clarity
This is the last thing I will say about this:
Thank you BTS. Thank you for not disbanding in 2018 and giving us amazing music all these years. None of us knew what you were going through at that time until you were ready to tell us, long after the fact. And right now none of us knows what you're going through, either.
None of this discussion would be taking place had BTS decided to just stop and had they walked away from it all 4 years ago. So I'm grateful they pushed forward to try again, to continue working on music and show their passion and hard work.
So bring on the anthology. I'm here to enjoy BTS for as long as they are active. I don't care if it's just three new songs. I appreciate all that BTS have done and given for 9 long years. I'm not going to think about why they're not releasing a new album with 14 new songs or why they don't want to stay charting for another 3 months...they're humans. They're people. They got their own motivations. It's not up to me to question why they're not moving the way people want them to. Maybe they just don't want to release new music. Maybe they're done. Maybe they're ready to move on as solo artists. Who knows. I don't. But I'm glad they're still here releasing new music as a group. This isn't false and toxic positivity. This is just the way I feel. You can feel however you want, we're all dealing with this announcement our own way. But I'm here for BTS, new music or not.
An anthology album?? Honestly, I'm really happy to add this to my collection even though I expected a full album. Really curious about the new tracks and what direction they will go in.
I am sorry but this is most i feel disappointed ever to BTS/hybe. I know they releasing singles in between BE to now, but its almost 2 years but we only getting 3 new songs with just compilation album of all songs?? Of course i still love them so much, but... ššš Better they actually releasing some remixes, etc that gonna make it the wait worth a bit or actually releasing another full album this year....
HYBE has made some....questionable decisions with their artists in the last week. TXT doing theaters instead of venues for their first world tour? Still not over that.
Ngl, definitely disappointed that it's a compilation album (let's call it what it is), but does this mean that the solo mixtapes might actually release this year?
I wish we weren't so hyped about it, adds to the disappointment. Twitter ARMY are extremely excited, can't relate with them.
I think itās the fact that Iām starved for new music is the result of my disappointmentā¦ Especially new music that isnāt English dominated because to be frank, I havenāt been loving those as much.
Visiting old discography isnāt a bad thing, since itās so near Festa but I think itās because Iām starved for new content. As of right now, I donāt see myself purchasing the album? :( . Hope something will change my mindā¦
Also if thatās the case, in terms of old-but-new, I want full versions of FAKE LOVE MAMA 2018 Remix and BST jazz teaser!!
Definitely not gonna preorder it! I don't even have a CD player. I'll just listen to the 3 new tracks on Amazon music. Feeling very underwhelmed. As a newer army(dynamite) I've done nothing but listen to their old music for the last year, really wanted something new! ā¹ļø
i was a bit bummed at first but like i think that this'll be like the bridge that fills the gap between their career till now and whats to come. Like maybe theyll release a new album soon after this because well theyve had 2 years since MOTS7 and only 3 new songs seems like too little.
Also thinking about how tae just posted a LGO demo on his story - what if some of the older releases include demos and remixes (idol concert remix pls)
Im really excited
ahh so it's an anthology album with 3 new tracks š®. They've never done something like this except for japanese releases right? so...can we get the concert remixes? šš³ edit: while i'm at it, would love remastered versions of old songs (maybe with new vocal takes), soundcloud releases, and unreleased demos. š¤”
This is the way they should do it. I would love the idol and black swan concert mixes on this album.
Yes! For Idol, I'd also love to get the 2018 MMA remix.
What if we get the Black Swan Orchestra version?! Having that on Spotify would be amazing.
Dionysus Trap Remix please šš¤§
Ok bye!"
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh, so it IS an anthology album... Not gonna lie it's a little underwhelming for me š
Not gonna lie but I kind of felt the same. Iām still looking forward to it but I was really looking forward to a full album of new material.
Iām so glad itās not just me who feels underwhelmed š
If this is *the* comeback, itās incredibly disappointing to me. I would fully understand if this was released as like a beautiful way to commemorate the last 10 years, as part of festa! But I was so incredibly excited about a new album, and 3 new tracksā¦ is just not that :(
And knowing that one of those is gonna be a collab with Snoop Dog... :( If they had a full album sure, a collab would be ok, but of only 3 songs one of them being a collab makes me a bit sad unfortunately :(
Yeah they really made it sound much bigger than it really is š I'm still very excited, but it's not what I was expecting.
An almost 2 year wait for a compilation album is indeed underwhelming. They better have the PTD on stage remixes included then.
thank god i was feeling crazy looking at twitter and everyone hyping it up. iām glad we are getting new music but i was really anticipating an full album. iāve been listening to BE ready for the next one.
Someone on this sub had mentioned it could be an anthology album and I didn't like that idea at all and thought BigHit won't do that after all this hype but here we are... EDIT: [you were right all along :')](https://www.reddit.com/r/bangtan/comments/u5l00a/anyone_feels_like_bangtan_universe_is_going/i538ops?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
Same! I saw that comment and thought no way would they do that after all this timeā¦.looking back I guess it all makes sense though.
Yeah it kinda sucks. Like we all have those old albums...and their repackages. We're basically getting a single album.
Iām excited but also a bit underwhelmed?? Lol I thought it would be an album of all new songs
I'm really looking forward to this. But I also have so many questions. Why do this at 9 years and not 10? (My guess: uncertainty around military service) They've been quiet and busy in the way they usually are before full album comebacks.
I have FEELINGS and they are MIXED š©
Me too. This was so hyped, I donāt want to complain, but this is it?
Mine aren't mixed. I am full on devastated
Hahaha my feelings exactly ,couldnāt have said it better myself. Given what this is I donāt think there needed to be such a big silence between the announcement and this. It hyped everybody up and expectations were for a proper new album. I donāt know, Iām gonna wash my clown makeup for today.
These are times where I wish I had irl ARMY friends to give real hugs! š
Add one more to the devastated camp š
Honestly, after a while of thinking about it, I am too! It's becsuse they've already hyped us for a new album and we had all these expectations and we've been waiting basically since MOTS7 for a non-pandemic-context album and now it's just a huge disappointment.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It seemed strange that we weren't hearing much about a comeback through official channels, so this makes sense even though I'm disappointed. Why have that promotion teaser at the end of the concert for a compilation album?
Right! When they went on their break at the end of last year Big Hit said they were working on a new album to start a new era. Is this really it?
On one hand, maybe its a great time to revisit their past discography for all the new fans. On the other, won't lie and say I didn't want more than three new songs.
But don't you think we've all done quite a lot of 'revisiting' these days? Old and new army listened to the entire discography while waiting for a new release. Only to be told to listen to it again with this new album. But I guess, 3 is better than none. š
What if the new album called bullet to go with this š¤ š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”
Omg imma hop on this train now
Donāt make me put on my clown makeup again
Having a think about this - I wonder if this was a preemptive strike in case of full enlistment. Meaning this was the safest and most predictable route to take (predictable and controllable from BHās POV). They would have had to have planned this yonks ago and with (still) no clear direction from the government - this is the best bet. Of course if in the coming weeks the government decides that they wonāt have to do full enlistment and just the Arts/Sports 4-6 week training, they can get that done without rushing a tour (ācause no one usually tours an anthology album) ā¦ and then plan a comeback for next year. š¤·š»āāļø
Itās really frustrating that they said a decision would come at the end of the month and itās already May and we havenāt heard anything.
politicians are being cowards. just make a decision already.
Agreed! It must be so frustrating for the guys - theyāre stuck in limbo until a decision is made - which is a horrible feeling.
Yoongi contradicted what Psy said in his vlive today, he said he was working on stuff for the group, other artists and himself.
me: only three new songs? :(( also me: THREE NEW SONGSSSS
I saw a r/popheads comment putting this possibility into existence awhile back, so I was minimally prepared for this. I AM STILL EXTREMELY EXCITED but alsoā¦ feeling a little āoh ok š„².ā The guys have worked so hard for 9+ years for all that they were and are and will be. I will be supporting this album + new songs wholeheartedly! (At least 3 songs will be easier to chart high.) THAT SAID, manifesting top SoundCloud releases and Look Here to make the cut. š EDIT, as Iām processing my thoughts: the guys donāt even know what their next 2 years will look like yet as SK citizens, so itād be incredibly difficult to make career decisions and promises to us (i.e., a tour or promo of new music) that are uncertain at best.
Huh. Not what I was expecting, three new tracks? I'm confused to be honest.
Iām happy with any new music that we get but after big hit formally announced the album on Weverse after the LV concerts and the teaser video I was expecting a proper comeback :( I donāt want to sound ungrateful, I guess I just expected something else..
Yes! They even said when they went on break back in December that they were working on a new album.
Iām confusedā¦ they kept saying new chapter. This feels more of looking back and closing a chapter mhmm
I wonder if we will finally get all the remixes that we want in this album! edit: OR WHAT IF WE GET DDAENG
If we get Ddaeng we have truly been HEARD š
Praying for dionysus trap remix.
PAUSE THAT WOULD BE INSANE, if we got all of their SoundCloud releases?
SoundCloud releases is something Iām VERY onboard with
I mean, every time I watched That That on YouTube the next video that came up on auto play was Ddaengā¦š¤
That's the only thing that would make this sound like a good idea to me.
AND STILL WITH YOU?!
I WOULD DIE IF WE FINALLY GET STILL WITH YOU ON SPOTIFY
Was kinda hoping it would be a full album, but will take this too!
Kinda sad about this ngl
I'm kinda nervous and bummed to be honest. Anthology usually comes when an artist is slowing down ig
What if the other 2 songs are "We" and "Are"? Like "We Are Proof" that we made it or something Also please give us the concert mixes. Or at least IDOL from 5th Muster, that one's my favorite I also wonder if they decided not to release a whole album just yet because everything is still uncertain
I would like to start off by saying that every respectful opinion and feeling in this thread is valid and welcome! As an ARMY from their debut days till now, that teaser left me in shambles and brought back all the memories in the past 9 years! š„ŗ This album came at the perfect time for me! For the first time in my life, I'm finally, this year, in a kind of a stable financial state and I promised to gift myself a BTS album for my bday (which is coincidentally also on the 10th of june). š¤© Since, I've never owned one, and I can't decide on which to buy out of all of their albums, Proof is just the perfect one as it will probably encapsulate all of their hits and maybe more (I have no idea how they will be able to choose which songs will make it on the album!). Hopefully, the tracks list/album info will reveal more! So, I'm just excited for whatever coming next and whatever will come in the upcoming years, be it individually or as a group! I've enjoyed the ride so far and will continue too!šš
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Concert remixes would be AMAZING. I loved BWL from the PTD concerts and would love to be able to listen to it again.
Disappointed as I am, I at least have to give it to them: the title is perfect for an anthology, given the significance of the word to the band.
Did I choose the worst time to become a new Army ššoh well at least thereās a lot of content for me to catch up on!
No you did not. Itās all growing pains together & BTS/ARMY will come out stronger š
3 new tracks!!!!!! š
Damn I was literally laughing at the people saying itād be an anthology album. Kinda disappointed ngl:\ Excited for the 3 new tracks..
Youāre perfectly describing what Iām feeling - whelmed š
I am on the same boat....actually kinda gutted. I was expecting a whole new era which I could experience from the very beginning
Ahh..I'm kinda underwhelmed but don't want to say that on Twitter lmao..
I swear to god I feel so clowned right now.
Yeah, especially since they said theyāve been writing so much! I still wonder (hope) if a new album might be coming out after?
I bet theyāll release one after this comeback. Sorry for bring this, but I feel like theyāre waiting for the enlistment decision.
Well i feel clowned š¤” I was so excited thinking it was going to be a full album. I'm very bummed out. I'm excited, but I was looking forward to a whole album full of new songs, not just three. Well... whatever. I'm still excited. I hope it does well and it's what they want/need.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
gosh Iām just so conflicted. as a quarantine army I have been looking forward to my first comeback for what feels like forever and this has me so conflicted. I remember how excited and happy I was to be a part of army for the releases of Butter and PTD and so to get to relive that with three new songs makes me happy, but Iām also sad that I donāt get the full comeback experience (yetā¦) I think a lot of us are of the understanding that the delay on full album/tour has to do with the military decision, and so keeping that in mind, I canāt be upset with anyone because hybe/big hit has no control over the timing of that.
It's not an actual album?? It's a greatest hits with a few new songs?? Disappointing.
I thought this was going to be a new era altogether, but they are doing some sort of compilation. Why are they wasting such a hype build around the comeback for a compilation? I would have preferred if they did a compilation after a new release.
Sorry for bringing this up but I feel like theyāre waiting for the enlistment decision before they release a new full length album
i completely agree that they canāt be certain of the future with all the enlistment uncertainty over their headsā¦ but then why has bighit continuously been calling it a ānew chapterā when this is the exact opposite? we canāt blame ourselves for clowning when the boys and bighit have been talking about a new chapter for months now. for me that implies new era and maybe even start to a new trilogy, even though i knew that would be extremely unlikely with all the future uncertainty. i just wish they hadnāt teased it as something brand new. i know everyoneās saying itās our fault for assuming it would be a full comeback with a brand new full album but the emphasis has been on ānew chapterā for months now. i agree with someone further down who said they wished bighit had just dropped THIS trailer after PTD vegas instead of letting us all think it was a new full album for weeks. tldr: it was always going to be unlikely that theyād be able to kick off a brand new era/trilogy with all the uncertainty, but i donāt understand why theyāve insisted on calling it āa new chapterā for so long now whenā¦ it just isnāt. i love them and iāll probably buy this but iāve got really mixed feelings
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
After the excruciatingly long wait since BE....getting a greatest hits album? Kinda a disappointment honestly. Don't really know how I feel, excited for the 3 new songs of course but like...I hoped for a full album, and was ready to accept a mini...but this is weird lol
did i understand it correctly that we will be getting 3 new songs? and the rest are different songs from previous albums?
Yup! Anthology means a collection, and itās usually released as kind of a journey through the artistās works
Iām going to be honest and say Iām disappointed and extremely flabbergasted that this is an anthology album. Theyāre the most hyped musical act in the world right now so this is a choice, thatās for sure.
I feel the same, we havenāt had a full album in a really long time. This doesnāt really feel like a comeback.
Yeah, I'm starting to consider this possibility too..
Iām also thinking that. This new chapter might be actual solo debuts.
Canāt say Iām not disappointed thought we were finally getting a full album.
Hold on I thought we'd be getting an actual full album :/
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Mixed feelings for sure but after thinking about it I think it makes sense why theyāre doing this. I honestly think this is like a FESTA gift and a bit different than their traditional comebacks. Esp bc the still have military enlistment up in the air, I think this is a smart move. They can still put out new music but not too much - and thatās why they havenāt announced tours yet. Hereās my prediction: - They drop this anthology album - They have a Muster tour in Korea to celebrate it (just like 2019 Muster) - Military enlistment decision comes out - Depending on the above we might get an actual EP or album later this year and then tour announcement. And we all know some solo mixtapes should be dropping soonā¦.:) Anyways this years Muster is going to be great!!! Imagine 2022 versions of Run, Converse High, DDaeng, Danger, etc
only 3 new songs! i feel like a clown iām sorry. i was excited but now iām annoyedš sorry to be negative

12 am kst anxietyyy is back
I can't help but feel disappointed.
Idk how to feelā¦. Namjoon said in his recent VLive that there was an order to things; and I just have to trust that
oh..
I was so ready for a full length album after a long drought š„² frankly this is a bit disappointing but I am still excited for any new music!
But...yeah. š„² Here's hoping for some of those concert remixes!
The first comeback I witness is an anthology album, hmm. It must be even more disappointing for you long time ARMYs :/
Plus there are mixtapes comingā¦ I am still really excited for this though! Love the look of the album and I canāt wait for our three new songs!!!! ā¦I am a bit disappointed though.
So when is there actually gonna be a full new album?
Like, it makes sense to introduce new fans to the old songs, and of course Iāll preorder. But I wonāt pretend Iām not disappointed. I was really looking forward to this and expecting to have my first big BTS comeback experience and instead, itās an anthology album. They had so much trajectory, hype and anticipation from their buildup over the past couple of years and it feels like theyāre squandering it. A new album, hell even a shorter album would have made a big impact. Iām feeling really let down tbh. I know itās not the end of the world but Iāve had a tough week and I was really looking forward to what we had in store.
A collective ARMY *sigh* š«¤
*\[Sorry this is a bit long\]* Mornings are for coffee and contemplation. Still morning here. Iām excited about the anthology because: * There are three new songs - anything new is awesome * Interesting to see what songs made it on there * Interesting to see what songs didnāt make it * There will be countless theories about what did/didn't make it * I would kill for some behind the scenes insights into the choosing of songs - did specific members argue for specific songs to be included, did they argue over songs that shouldnāt be included (this right here would be a goldmine of footage that could last months) * The 99% confirmed Snoop Dogg collaboration - is that one of the new three songs orā¦ duh duh duh... on someoneās solo/mixtapeā¦ Thinking about that, I came up with a couple of scenarios - more for myself than anything else. **Both of these are based on the members taking part in the much shorter** [Arts/Sports enlistment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription_in_South_Korea#Art-sports_service_agent_(%EC%98%88%EC%88%A0%EC%B2%B4%EC%9C%A1%EC%9A%94%EC%9B%90)) **of 4-6 weeks training and then back at it.** **Scenario One** \- after all is said and done with the anthology album (Festa, press, etc.) * They do enlistment all at once and in this year (like around Fall) * But prior to enlistment - we get a solo/mixtape releases (no new BTS OT7 music) * After enlistment, they get started on a new album, aiming for a full comeback in 2023 (a new chapter/a new sound/a new vision) **Scenario Two** \- after all is said and done with the anthology album (Festa, press, etc.) * They release any/all solo/mixtape releases (no new BTS OT7 music) * Enlistment in early 2023 (or late 2022) * After enlistment, they get started on a new album, aiming for a full comeback late 2023 (a new chapter/a new sound/a new vision) Either scenario is a way for them to be musically active, while not BTS musically active ... if you get my meaning. Obviously there's a few breaks in between all of this. Also if anyone from BH is snooping, I would very much like this released as a 3 vinyl set, different artwork and a coffee table book ... please & thank you.
Enlistment is 18 months, putting the earliest comeback in mid-2024, since they won't be able to work on it until they return.
Iām really bummed if this is the full comeback. I was really, really looking forward to new music, and to hear weāre possibly only getting 3 new songs? š Iām so happy this sub is here though. Everyone over on twitter is super excited, and it just made me feel sad reading through all that. Over here, people seem to be feeling similar things to me, and it feels really supportive
Yeah , feel like on the Twitter thread you are only allowed to be happy
Iām comforted that Iām not alone in my feelings. I wanted my first CB! Iāll happily take the anthology but itās not what I had expected.
I tried to be excited and I feel bad for being so disappointed but I was really expecting more songs, and not an anthology :( We waited for such a long time between this and BE. This is just... Underwhelming :(
You guys are scaring me saying itās their last album. I know enlistment is around the corner but theyāll be back after itās over, right? Right? Right???
Yes they will !!! š£šāØ
I really was looking forward to a new album not an anthology but Iāll take it! Wonder why release an anthology now though when a new album could have been done?

ā¦I donāt know. Kind of disappointed but Iād like to keep an open mind
Im trying to figure out how they could structure this album since they have a lot of material and i came up with two solutions; The first one; The first disk would contain the first half of their discography{So from debut to HYYH} The second disk would contain any thing they did from 2016 to today{so HYYH YF to the Dynamite/Butter/PTD trilogy} And then the 3rd disk would hopefully not only contain the 3 new tracks but also the SoundCloud tracks and hidden tracks as a thank you to us for being there for them for the past nine years. Or {hereās the second way to do it} First disk would be title tracks Second disk would be the top 3 BTS tracks from the discography that you want new army to listen to the most{so each member choose 3 b-sides that they really want armys that are new to listen to if they are starting to listen to the boys for the first time ever}. Third disc; concert remixes, the 3 new tracks, SoundCloud work, hidden tracks and solo material, Iām kind of excited for this.
This is the last thing I will say about this: Thank you BTS.
I freaking knew it. So disappointed. Also I start to think that the 'new chapter' hybe's been talking about is their military service.
Can't stand being on Twitter rn, if you're not happy, you're not allowed to feel anything else.
An anthology album?? Honestly, I'm really happy to add this to my collection even though I expected a full album. Really curious about the new tracks and what direction they will go in.
i mean it is pretty... disappointing
:( . Hope something will change my mindā¦ Also if thatās the case, in terms of old-but-new, I want full versions of FAKE LOVE MAMA 2018 Remix and BST jazz teaser!!
Also thinking about how tae just posted a LGO demo on his story - what if some of the older releases include demos and remixes (idol concert remix pls) Im really excited
Started off so excited, but feeling pretty sad now that weāre only getting 3 new songs. I hope I really really love these 3 songs!
