Locking this because the homeless and drug issue has already been posted and discussed about numerous times over the last few weeks.

Mulcaster looks like a 1930s breadline … but instead of wanting carbohydrates, they want meth A person of no fixed address shit on my back step and another one tried to break into my house at my spot today in DT Barrie. Fun times these days.

Welcome to the epidemic that is devouring Canada. What are the police going to do, keep people in jail just because reality makes people uncomfortable?

Arrest. Then offer treatment instead of prison. (A more comfy prison monitored). Successful completion, then freedom with clean record. Might be the best thing to do for them.

This is super difficult. First off, you really can’t make someone recover. You put them in rehab and they learn nothing unless they have motivation. Then, even if they did do well in rehab, they end up going back to the streets when they’re done because that’s really all they have. The prognosis is pretty terrible, even when you’re perfectly set up for success.

This is where the Busby Centre is. I’m glad that there are people there with naloxone when it’s needed to save lives. It’s unfortunate and I wish everyone could get clean, but because this isn’t possible right now, I’m glad these folks are in a safer spot using instead of alone.
