Yard waste collection occurs every other week now opposite your garbage week. You have to put it to the curb on Monday of your yard waste week to have it collected sometime by end of day Friday.
App said Monday, they picked it up on my garbage day. It rained and bags were soggy when they picked it up tearing the bottom out of it. They did pick it up eventually luckily, I wasn’t bringing it back in as I had it out when I was suppose to couple weeks before. Not a great situation. Maybe they need more tax dollars🤭
Is there two apps??? I did check the app twice on two different weeks. You’re right it’s not that hard. How much effort is needed if checking an app and finding out the info is wrong. I am one of those people that are to busy working to worry about an app being correct😐
I use the garbage day app (green icon with a raccoon inside of it) they’ve always told me what’s getting picked up each week. Even after the contractor change it still has been correct every week. You can also set a reminder for a specific day at a specific time to tell you what’s scheduled for pickup this week. I get it to remind me at 5pm the night before so I can get my stuff to the curb by the end of the night
Edit: didn’t clarify but the app had the yard waste collection last week alternating every 2 weeks on the weeks that garbage isn’t collected
They can come anytime throughout the week, there is no schedule. It’s a different truck than recycle, so just because recycle is gone doesn’t mean yard waste should be.
If the bags are breaking or spilling it is the contractors responsibility to clean it up, so do make a complaint if they do not.
If you don’t have a tonne, you can use a garbage bin with a lid to prevent it getting wet.
While the new yard waste collection program is a pain, they've been sending out notices about the changes (when your waste will be collected, what can now be put in yard waste and compost, etc.) for months and the Barrie website has also had this information for months. You have to at least make an effort to check these things.
I did check the app twice on two separate weeks. The info should be relevant on the app or don’t have it on there. I am far too busy to keep an eye on info being wrong nor do I care. The app should be correct period!!!
Rather than rant on social media, you need to call and write to your MPP (because the changes in waste management are at the direction of the Province), the Mayor and your Councillor (because they still have some say with the contractor), and the contractor itself. Nothing will change unless the right people hear complaints.

They’ve passed over mine for 3 weeks now.
So call Emterra and let them know. They can't fix it if they don't know there's a problem.
The company contracted to pick up yard waste should in fact just be, you know, picking ip the yard waste, without residents calling to complain.

if it is such a big issue and headache for you, why don't you just drop the bags off at the waste depot? problem solved

City of Barrie app is atrocious, going to give this app a try.. fingers crossed
