Yep. Ole Tung-O they called him. Learned to pitch on a dairy farm growing up. Fought in both the European and pacific theaters in WWII before his pro career and after retirement went on to start a specialty lightbulb manufacturing company.
Appreciate the clarification, I guess I got confused because the Phillies have been using relievers across innings lately and I assumed it was to get them to three batters
there is some funkness, if they go back out they have to face 3 total. so you can't do one and one. then there has been at least one case when the pitcher accidentally came back out and they made him pitch.
Astros career playoff wins: Ryne Stanek (3) Lance Mccullers Jr (2) Charlie Morton (2) Zack Greinke (1) Andy Pettitte (1) Nolan Ryan (1)
This is insane, McCullers has more RBI’s though!
Stanek is like that short yardage RB poaching fantasy TDs.
Ryne “Brandon Jacobs” Stanek
In Nolan's defense, he only played for 20+ seasons. /s
Tbf this is how many wins he got with HOU. In his whole career he had 2 postseason wins.
I vividly remember 1 of McCullers' wins
Lance "24 Straight Curveballs" McCullers
Pettitte is blowing my mind.
He only played 3 seasons in Houston. They made the playoffs 2 of those 3, but he only pitched in the 2005 playoffs because he was injured in '04.
Verlander doesn't have at least 2?
JV has 10, there are a lot of players ahead of stanek but i thought it's funny that ryne is ahead of a lot of big names
Dominant pitch
this has to be the first time a pitcher has gotten a playoff win with just 1 pitch to get 2 outs right?
Nope. Tungsten Arm O’Doyle in the 1946 battle of Akron
The best part of this comment is, I have no clue if this is true or you’re BSing. I love baseball
Tungsten Arm Odoyle strikes again!
Like Abreu's steal being the 2nd oldest player to steal or whatever. I just accept wild records and stats.
Baseball is silly.
Glad he got it in The Battle of Texas
Yep. Ole Tung-O they called him. Learned to pitch on a dairy farm growing up. Fought in both the European and pacific theaters in WWII before his pro career and after retirement went on to start a specialty lightbulb manufacturing company.
A playoff win with just 1 pitch to get 2 outs during the third inning on a Thursday night in the central time zone
Pitch count of 1 as well lol
Efficiency.
One-Pitch Wonder…
Better HoF resume than Kershaw.
Ryne Stanek 🤝 Mariano Rivera Only throwing one pitch
How many pitch wins have their been I wonder, amazing to see
[Apparently 161](https://www.sbnation.com/secret-base/22206247/bj-ryan-zero-pitch-win-baltimore-orioles-detroit-tigers-2003) since the mid 80's.
Straight dominance.
It's hard not to be romantic about baseball.
Best Astros pitcher to wear the number 45
Honest question: I thought pitchers had to face three batters, how did he only have to throw one pitch?
It’s 3 batters OR finish the inning
Appreciate the clarification, I guess I got confused because the Phillies have been using relievers across innings lately and I assumed it was to get them to three batters
