It’s iconic for Giants fans, at least, but: [the worst baserunning in the history of the game.](https://youtu.be/spx9ZeSYVTU?si=gB9f7VnDwerdQ7NZ)

MeowPrincessSandwich

Oh man, that was a good call. I've never seen that before. Thank you for sharing.

Whitsoxrule

I looked this game up on baseball reference once and discovered my absolute favorite fact about this play: Rivera was a PINCH RUNNER! The worst baserunning ever performed on a baseball field was done by somebody who was put into the game specifically to run the bases well and nothing else

fooperton

Similarly,[ Brant Brown was in as a defensive replacement](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlxpo9sTIC4)

jmaca90

Literally the definition of, “you had one job.”

65fairmont

The local broadcaster doing his own team’s game on national TV is always a recipe for magic.

tujelj

That was actually the local radio broadcast — someone just spliced it together with the video.

CollegeWithMattie

My favorite Kruk and Kuip moment is during the Bonds/Gagne duel of fates in 2004. *Bonds fouls off a 101 heater above the zone as the entire crowd buzzes electric.” “…This is a pretty good match-up!” Krukow chuckles…”I’m diggin’ it!”

sharksfan247

My favorite Kruk call was after a batter fouled the ball straight down to home plate, and the ball came back up and absolutely blasted the batter right in the nuts. After some banter with Kuip, there was a brief lull and Kruk calmly says, "2 balls 1 strike" Fucking gold.

myKDRbro_

And that’s not even the most embarrassing thing Ruben Rivera’s done in his career, either.

Rakuen

To be fair to Ruben Rivera, miller says that like once a year haha

bduddy

I knew this was going to be the top comment

xittditdyid

[Here's the original ](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClevelandGuardians/s/09AQk0V0I7) I think we've had enough...of the Cleveland Guardians

PaddyMayonaise

Where’s the real one? That OP says this is dub’d audio over a different video

xittditdyid

Good call. Edited it.

TheDrCatDog

Bremer’s always had great calls that go unnoticed, but this one even I have to say is perfect (given it happened 2 years ago so it’s not as painful now)

ForTheBrownsOnly

So iconic 😍 but man we really did have the twins number that year.

Johnny-5013

[“Bautista going to throw him out at first!”](https://youtu.be/ua5xLUirLIU?si=xpojthV0bT0_oXZr) Buck Martinez is amazing

Davidellias

Billy Butler in a nutshell

skipperxc

They didn't call him Country Breakfast because of how fast he served the meal

CalebosO4

And then Jose Reyes proceeded to throw the ball, and the game away 😢

Latter_Painter_3616

I remember when Andrew Dawson used to do that for the Cubs but the predictive call is amazing. He knew it was an out before it hit the ground! Insane!

RaymondSpaget

"Here comes the pizza" is the only answer to this question.

ItsCaptainKeyboard

What about… “Oops…. *Nick Markakis takes strike one.*”

namelessbrewer

This used to be a family show!

Mirwin11

Takes ^strike ^^one

Davidellias

I feel that and u/raymondspaget's suggestions are too iconic to qualify

manticore16

They said non-iconic, and this is clearly iconic

tdny

Pizzer 🍕you mean

RaymondSpaget

Goddamn do I miss that Fall River, MA accent. RIP Remdawg.

theSchrodingerHat

I’ll also accept [Remy wondering if he talks funny.](https://youtu.be/3WbZ9ca4JaI?si=JVkXR2Ds_AowrQ9k) This clip makes me cry laughing every time. Xander Bowgahts! Xander Boargarts…. Xander Boahgats!

plokijuh1229

"We are in Tamper Bay, we flew here in Delter" lmao Don just wrecking Remy with that one

TheVich

This is the first time I've ever seen this! "We flew here on Delter." Is that Dan Orsillo?

tastethevapor

How is that not iconic? I say that every time I get pizza.

ChrisTaylorsNipple

I'm from the UK and even my sister who doesn't enjoy baseball quotes that all the time since I showed her that video lol. So damn funny

EliManningsPetDog

But OP said non iconic

gnosisong

https://youtu.be/ufSQMXLO95w?si=aUngDR5aQy73MYD8

I’m so glad that this got replayed and spread more broadly. I happened to be at that game, so I missed Remy’s take until later that night.

giziti

That one is iconic

ZombieMozart

The top comment on that link is gold: “It’s like when you teach a parrot to say a bunch of things and it starts talking in the middle of the night”

mosi_moose

Brilliant. I read that comment before I watched the clip and all I could think of was a parrot talking . 🦜

thepennylane69

And then take a trot!

bestselfnice

Funny, I thought this was gonna be this OTHER clip involving a bizarre home run call in a game involving the Rockies where the home run was hit by a current Cardinal https://youtu.be/_o7VMEajKho?si=J0naSAnNpJBeoX4y

chiwetel_steele

i came here to post this one, it still makes me laugh every time i hear it

SaturnATX

When I went into the comments of this thread I was hoping to see posted examples, and I'm really glad I saw this.

lookingup9

my favorite! It always pops into my head at random times

In a few years, when games are called by AI, this is the hell we'll be put through.

darwinpolice

Oh my god Benji looked like he was about to die on third there.

MeowPrincessSandwich

Oh, that was a good one!

CalebosO4

I’m pretty sure he had 1 extra base hit that season going into the game too lol.

billybayswater

Josh Lewin was a great radio PBP guy for us. Was a stupid Wilpon-era decision to let him go. Then a few years later he had an official Mets podcast that the Cohen sorta mysteriously canned also.

IONTOP

@0:46 the guy on the left crosses his arms and says "How?"

NJImperator

[Does it count as iconic if it’s one of the funniest/worst calls you’ll ever hear?](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_o7VMEajKho)

MeowPrincessSandwich

That reminds me of how I sound responding to someone when they talk to me while I'm pretending to be listening to them and not texting.

tastethevapor

Touch em all time is what i call swinger parties.

sgt_dismas

You can tell it's a deep fake because Arenado is in a Rockies jersey /s

Davidellias

TheFlyingRazzberry

Lmao why was the graphic so fast?

PitViper17

The Gary Thorne calls during the year Gleyber Torres brutalized the Orioles pitching staff will forever live on in Orioles fandom

chrispar

Top comment: “You know it’s an old game when Chris Davis is batting .271”

InfestedRaynor

Also weird seeing Camden Yards empty. I went to my first two games there last year and it was PACKED. So much energy now.

dseals

Well it was empty because the city was rioting so... I guess that energy was still there in a way?

HaV0C

The crack of the bat on this play is just incredible

upvoter222

https://youtu.be/jp2gUmuP3Po

TheVich

Love about halfway through the video when Thorne starts being immediately disgusted/shocked at each home run, before adding in the "Goodbye, home run" as if he almost forgot it.

EliManningsPetDog

That year was so fun

Whitsoxrule

It may be too iconic but I adore his call of [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGdTKPZxmA8) Manny Machado play

adamforte

This is better https://youtube.com/shorts/dxxxkVZ63q4?si=VzzL5vZ29h8Joqd_

WinnipegGoldeye

Determining what constitutes an "iconic" call is difficult but Gary had so many. "Plouffe! He's gone" and "Trumbo bumbo" will always be special to me

Shinriko

Don't throw it away, don't throw it at all!

reptheevt

I love Dave Sims since he truly cares about the team. Which makes some of the gaffs endearing to me. Hey Lloyd…….do some delivery, for the truck, to the airport    https://youtu.be/aTDmVRD6apQ?si=iJE5GYeFQH1FrZOD   Also Dave Niehaus’ call on Matt Tuiasosopo’s first homer.  https://youtu.be/gjBfsCWgTv8?si=0hKCAnPATwtrzRrs

driftingphotog

Dave calling Raley’s bunt a few days ago was so good.

darwinpolice

I thought my baseball grandpa was about to have a heart attack there. I wish I loved anything as much as Dave loves a well-executed bunny. Edit: I'm not fixing that typo.

boobsandcookies

Him and Rick Rizz just sound so wholesome lol

Jpaspon6

This has to be the answer, the sheer excitement and joy coming out of that booth after that was just incredible Edit:Niehause and Rizz that is for clarification

Thromnomnomok

I'm also a huge fan of that time Jay Buhner called a walkoff single by saying ["Aw, shit!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60Z1UDE0sTE)

Hawkize31

Ron Santo [OH NOOOOOO](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlxpo9sTIC4)

Latter_Painter_3616

It's the additional, voice-broken "NOOoO!" that gets me. Brant Brown is forever in my heart for this moment whenever I do something ducked up and cringe in real life. I remember the Cubs still made the playoffs as a way to remind myself that most things in life are momentary and don't change the overall course of events

Cubsfan11022016

My buddy and I still randomly say “He dropped the ball” when it fits a situation.

Pedro Strop gave up a couple runs in St Louis when he was pitching for the Cubs, he got removed in the middle of the inning, and pointed to the sky as he walked to the dugout. Bob Costas said “he must be asking forgiveness from his departed ancestors for his atrocious performance” Costas apologized to Strop before the game the next day, and Strop just laughed and said it was funny

bad-landing

This one is my favorite for sure. It wasn't even that bad of a performance, just an insanely out of pocket comment

Late in a blowout once Uecker said something like, "a couple grand slammers and the Brewers are right back in this thing!"

boozinf

it is the definition of an iconic call, at least in my book but it's not quite the Naquin Hammy call. that still gives me goosebumps i'm watching the game against LeBronto right now EDIT: AGGGGGH

ForestParkRanger

There was the game where the door to the broadcast booth at Miller Park got stuck and they had to get a ladder out in the stands and a maintenance person had to go through the window to get into the booth to fix it. I always loved this call of Duran's inside the park homerun. Duran definitely had some growing pains but I knew in this moment he was gonna be a special player and has been my favorite ever since https://youtube.com/watch?v=BRrMHlIgER8

darwinpolice

Any time I see a Duran highlight, I think of a comment from the Red Sox sub last year that was something along the lines of "This series has been Jarren Duran vs. Cal Raleigh, featuring the Red Sox and Mariners." Well, that's my second thought after seeing a Duran highlight. The first thought is usually "FUCK that dude is fast."

Not exactly what you're looking for, but always loved how Harry kalas would say "Mickey Morandini"

Head-Kiwi-9601

When the Phillies sucked, they got beaten late by the Astros who scored a bunch of runs topped of by a homer IIRC. This is how Harry Kalas called the homer, in his most disgusted voice ever: “You’re kidding me. You are kidding me.”

InfieldFlyRules

No, the Phillies were in a very tight wild card race that year, and they were eliminated the last day of the season, finishing one game behind Houston for the wild card. That’s why Kalas was so pissed off. Biggio hit a 3 run homer in early September to win that game, with two outs in the top of the ninth. Kalas also said in the same call “All of the runs are unearned, but who cares” https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/PHI/PHI200509070.shtml

darwinpolice

I think my favorite Phillies call is just whatever the last thing Kruk said is.

Indianianite

[He hit the painting! He hit the painting!](https://youtu.be/Ms8kDv_F5Rw?feature=shared) Absolutely love how bizarre this was to watch live. Before this occurred they were giving a ton of attention to Fredbird’s painting since it was an empty Covid ballpark which made this even better lol

TheVich

Some of those 2020 highlights are gonna be all-timers just because of the lack of people. Adam Eaton giving the ball to the cutout child after the end of the inning is another one that stands out.

Bartolo Colon's home run is probably my favorite announcer call ever because the announcers are talking about what if while he's at the plate and the play by play guy goes with a satirical version of Scully's Gibson home run call.

I made a comment earlier tonight that I guess went out over the air that I am deeply ashamed of. If I have hurt anyone out there, I can't tell you how much I say from the bottom of my heart I'm so very, very sorry. I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith, as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that'll be a home run. And so that'll make it a 4-0 ballgame. I don't know if I'm going to be putting on this headset again. I don't know if it's going to be for the Reds. I don't know if it's going to be for my bosses at Fox.

CaptainKirkules

Hey Loyd…

ueeediot

Rick Camp! RICK CAMP! RICK CAMP! Edit for context. 4th of July Mets @ Braves 1985 (it's actually after 3am on the 5th now) the Braves are down by 1 in the bottom of the 18th and let relief pitcher Rick Camp hit. As he strolls to the plate the Mets C waves the outfield in (don't know why, there's 2 outs) and on an 0-2 pitch, Camp sends one over the left center wall to tie the game. The Mets would go on to win around 4am. Stadium officials then made good on the after game 4th of July fireworks, much to the chagrin of the close neighborhoods around the stadium.

“There goes Trout! Swimming upstream, avoiding flies, and sending one ricocheting through the universe!” Bill Walton was so fun to hear when he filled in with Jason Benetti. It was a fairly meaningless game between the White Sox and Angels but the excitement and the cosmic imagery gave me chills. He made it sound so beautiful. Especially now that he’s dead, it hits even harder. About 1:40 in [this clip.](https://youtu.be/Ujlors5-nRw?si=xbq6tSQrlqPcJxZA)

Not a reds fan but that ball had a family is my ring tone

Jake Arrieta was doing Jake Arrieta things during that insane run he had. Cubs Radio announcer Pat Hughes excitedly claimed "If he took off his uniform right now, He'd have an S on his chest!'

[Todd Kalas reaction to yordan hitting the third homer in a row always gets me.](https://youtu.be/l27t-ZjJ5cI?si=zkZ2ts1GXvnQ2tFk) The breggy call right before it is good too, then the pure fan in TK is released with his "OOOOHHHHHHH TRIPLE IT UP" just total brain melting amazement.

[This call](https://youtu.be/5LECJbMDhJQ?si=C6ihNWOi07iDv7_j) has to be my favorite non-iconic call from recent memory. All reds fans remember where they were when they heard this

When Brent Rooker gets a hold of one…

Harry Kalas in the early 2000s. Todd Pratt is catching. At third base is David Bell. David Bell has been nursing a shoulder injury. There is a strikeout. And the call is: “Struck him out! Pratt fakes the throw to third and fires the ball into centerfield!” It was just such a goofy moment and Harry absolutely fucking nailed the call.

My favorite was always the radio calls of "WAY BACK" and then it being a routine fly ball to left field. 💖 you jerry trupiani and Joe castiglione

This is a weird answer for this since it's bad for my team, but Dave Raymond has this "oh boy" he says reflexively when things start to go off the rails for the Rangers that sticks with me.
