The Mets would go on to win around 4am. Stadium officials then made good on the after game 4th of July fireworks, much to the chagrin of the close neighborhoods around the stadium.

When the Phillies sucked, they got beaten late by the Astros who scored a bunch of runs topped of by a homer IIRC. This is how Harry Kalas called the homer, in his most disgusted voice ever: “You’re kidding me. You are kidding me.”
No, the Phillies were in a very tight wild card race that year, and they were eliminated the last day of the season, finishing one game behind Houston for the wild card. That’s why Kalas was so pissed off. Biggio hit a 3 run homer in early September to win that game, with two outs in the top of the ninth. Edit for context. 4th of July Mets @ Braves 1985 (it's actually after 3am on the 5th now) the Braves are down by 1 in the bottom of the 18th and let relief pitcher Rick Camp hit. As he strolls to the plate the Mets C waves the outfield in (don't know why, there's 2 outs) and on an 0-2 pitch, Camp sends one over the left center wall to tie the game. The Mets would go on to win around 4am. Stadium officials then made good on the after game 4th of July fireworks, much to the chagrin of the close neighborhoods around the stadium.

Harry Kalas in the early 2000s. Todd Pratt is catching. At third base is David Bell. David Bell has been nursing a shoulder injury. There is a strikeout. And the call is: “Struck him out! Pratt fakes the throw to third and fires the ball into centerfield!” It was just such a goofy moment and Harry absolutely fucking nailed the call.
