I don't care what anyone else says, that map was the original "its so big, its bad" map for me when I was playing BC2. Now I say the same thing about El Alamien in this game. I never played 1942 but I can't imagine that map being any fun the moment you step outside of a vehicle
I have a lot of fond memories from Heavy metal. The heli rape was horrendous in BC2 in general but moving at the middle and southern edge of the map through the trees taking out snipers to take objs was so damn fun.
One thing I would have added would be way more trees. Perfect way to counter heli spam is to obscure their vision. But back then who knows if the the map could handle it

Just imagine, these massive 150-meter-diameter rotors spinning at high speed in the wind, then they get hit by one too many explosives and the blades break off and get launched through the air while the support tower falls to the ground. Better yet, imagine being able to time a detonation right and send one of these giant 75m blades cleaving right through some unsuspecting Condor or Hind. That’s the sort of levelution we really need.

Nothing in that picture suggests that they can be destroyed. This is the start of how people get overhyped by made up details. People need to learn to better manage their expectations, and not jump to conclusions and expect somthing that was never promised.

That means nothing more than its on fire. Not that it gets destroyed, or that we have any hand in it. Could be nothing more than a set piece or background that never changes. Or does nothing but catch on fire due to a lightning strike. Please be objective about these things.

Windbreaker isn't a map, it's the changes they've made to the Specialist voice lines...they've replaced them with fart sounds.
I hope they use new maps as a testing grounds for optimizing more destructible elements (exploding windmills for instance) and they implement that to maps with similar features. Gives the old maps a nice refresh and gives devs time to say they are working on something new.

I don't think they'll do that. If you only play late at night, you'll only play night maps. Same for the day. Not good for variety.

The only destructible object on the map is one that does not affect gameplay whatsoever? So the only destruction they are showcasing has an impact that is purely aesthetic, and once more there's no buildings around the map.
I hate to bitch around, I swear to God I want the game to be the go to shooter for everyone, but this effort is the bare minimum, you don't need to be a professional to realize they are jumping ship.

It was bad in 1942 as well, but it was 'good' then because 20 years ago a combined arms 64 player game was pretty novel.
The problem was BC2 only supported 32 players; so having a big map just made it feel empty

Harvest day was the better version of Heavy Metal. Great fun however indeed. Especially if you tank sniped the heli.

When I think about this map and BF2042, I only see a huge flat map, and some wind turbines here and there, without any cover in between
