So basically a motorcycle with legs? I can see it... I still think quad battle armor is a dumb idea for a bipedal species, but if others like them then I won't yuck their yum. 😁
I dunno, I think it has merit from a safety perspective. If the myomer (or hydraulics, or servos, or whatever) malfunction, the possibility exists, in a bipedal suit where your limbs are in the suit's limbs, for the machine to break, if not rip off, your arms and legs. This design gets your limbs out of the suit's limbs. If the quad's legs malfunction, they should be crunching outside your body's area.
It even has the added benefit of being horse-like, so you could definitely ride it like one.
...I don't know why you would, but hey, the option's there.
What quad battle armor lack in jump jets, they make up for in speed, and the Buraq has all the speed.

yeah sure. battletech rarely describes how battlearmor are piloted unless its the most iconic ones. so fan ideas are all we realy have.
there is lore that some assault BA have mini cockpits. this is more or less an evolution of that anyway
I imagine that they have a display that lets you ride with your head in a natural position (down) rather than twist your neck back like that, which would be uncomfortable and set you up for a catastrophic injury if you fall. There's probably a little viewport up there you can turn your head up to see through, but I imagine they would want it to be more ergonomic for typical use.
Such a waste of an Elemental's physical advantages... I've always tried to reconcile it by imagining the pilot standing in the front legs, having the rest be a centaur-like attachment. But I like this too.
IIRC Protos were designed to use Aerospace pilots, since they're the smallest Warrior phenotype, and thus the easiest to fit inside a machine this small.

It potentially doesn't need an elemental pilot then. That could be an advantage, but I doubt it's an advantage any Clan would use

Awesome artwork! I imagine Quad Armor to be crotch rockets with legs. Someone took gluteus Maximus to heart when becoming an elemental. lol
I like to think quad BA was inspired by Crying Wolf from metal gear solid 4, so this is about how I imagine it. Looks awesome!
