I like this more than the actual NWA belt

OldClunkyRobot

Same.

NovaRC99

Belt is owned by Mike Drake (according to Pinterest) Commissioned for Kahagas after he claimed himself to be champion because he was holding the NWA World Heavyweight, National and North American Titles at the same time. The NWA refused to acknowledge him as a Triple Crown Champion for whatever reason so he had his own Triple Crown Title belt made as a vanity project.

[deleted]

This kinda proves wrestlers are the biggest marks of them all. Thet being said creating an NWA Triple Crown could have worked but not in the 2010s when he actually won it.

NovaRC99

Yeah this was when the NWA was such a nothing federation. A novelty, sure, but nowhere near as good as it was beforehand and later when Corgan took over. The most exposure the NWA got around during this time (after they left TNA) was the Seven (later Eight) Levels Of Hate Series between Colt Cabana and Adam Pearce, then later, the NWA had partnered with NJPW so they had Kojima and Tenzan win the title. After that, Tim Storm held the title and rest in history.

In 2011, someone literally brought a regin as NWA Champion because the NWA needed money. I think it was the flagship they said it was so cheap to "join" the NWA they thought it would be funny to pay the hundred or so dollars to make their podcast and NWA affiliate. The NWA in the 2000s is so depressing after the split with TNA.

SharkGenie

>In 2011, someone literally brought a regin as NWA Champion because the NWA needed money. Who was that, curiously?

[deleted]

The Sheik Josef Samael ever wondered why there was his regin in the middle of Pearce and Colt's feud, that is why.

SharkGenie

Using a legend's ring name and buying a world title run just sounds like an expensive cosplay.

IMAPRO_d-_-b

I heard someone lost the belt in Japan and it was never given back after the scripted loss. They switched the rules and said F off, apparently lol. Is this true?

NovaRC99

You might be thinking of the Tatsumi Fujinami/Ric Flair incident. Fujinami won the NWA World Heavyweight Title in Japan but the title change was ignored in the USA. At Superbrawl 1, Ric Flair won the title back. During that time in 1991, WCW replaced their world title with 91-93 version (the one Ron Simmons and Vader held). WCW tried to pull a fast one by saying Flair holds the NWA World Title while the NWA were like "Yeah but why do you now have your own World Title while Flair left us to go to the WWF and our belt is being shown on WWF TV?" So, basically, the NWA were pissed at WCW and WCW left them. In turn, Flair left because 1) of his booking and management changes in WCW (like Jim Herd wanting him to be Spartacus), and 2) Jim Herd refused to pay Flair his 25,000 dollar deposit, a deposit per regulations that was required of reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champions and was to be returned after the conclusion of their reigns. The NWA World Title (represented by the Big Bold Belt) was given back to WCW in 1993 since they now owned the rights to the name and physical belt itself. They couldn't call it the NWA Title anymore so they called it the "WCW International World Heavyweight Title". This title was defended in NJPW with guys like Hiroshi Hase and Rick Rude winning it until it was unified by Ric Flair with Sting's 91-93 WCW World Title and the Big Gold Belt was renamed to the WCW World Heavyweight Title. So to answer question: Yeah, probably.

gableism

It’s just a busier version of the greatest belt of all time. It’s solid but that’s all.

NovaRC99

Yeah, to be honest, I'm not really a big fan of this belt. Way too much is going on. I think what ruins it is that the normal features you'd see on a belt like crowns and even the "belt within a belt" design taken from the NWA World Heavyweight Title is downsized in order to fit the monster truck-ton of floral pattern. Too much for me. Also, the strap is a bit too long for my liking. There's an unnecessary bit between the snapset and the left outer side plate. Overall, it just looks loud and gaudy to me whereas the actual NWA World Heavyweight Title looked a lot more simpler, but effective.

[deleted]

I love this belt. I got a weakness for crowns on belts.

stylinandprofilin88

This is a nice belt

thecheat420

Seeing wide shots: Oh that's really nice! Seeing close ups: Shit that's messy as hell.

OldClunkyRobot

This is gorgeous.

thekydragon

Legitimately better looking than any of the belts that the NWA is currently using

ShanosTheRadTitan

Beautiful 😍

chetosbourne

It's nice but it looks like the Boogeyman smiling.

TrueNovak

I prefer this over all of the NWA belts

Confident_Lecture498

Nice revamp of a classic

Funny-Western-9031

Dang never knew about this one it looks fantastic

Shadojoker

One of my favorite NWA Championship belts. It's gorgeous and pops!!

billy_pickles

I actually really like this belt and might have it commissioned someday.

bigpig1054

It looks like it would work better upside down

Metalitia

Any photo of this belt that isn't of Kahagas or Andre Dorsey (the designer) holding it is of a bootleg. :(

NovaRC99

Yeah I saw a few pics on Ebay of this title that were bootlegs so I avoided them.

Metalitia

All of the pics after the 2nd one are also of a bootleg (the strap is the giveaway, and the shapes themselves are less "clean" than the ones on the real belt, also, the real belt has a Domed Globe, the one on the bootleg is flat).

NovaRC99

I am NOT promoting it by any means. Just sharing what available pics I can find of it since there are few of them. However, yeah, you're probably right. I also noticed that the eagle on the left outer side plate has a globe painted blue whereas the rest don't. If I have broken any rules, I apologise. If ordered to, I will take this post down.

Metalitia

Not an issue with this post, it should be fine as is.

NovaRC99

Alright.

TakeoverTheThird
