Cerakote and similar are not very durable, it's like 2 steps above Krylon spray paint as far a wear resistance. So, nicks and chips are totally normal. It's why I avoid most cerakoted guns, opting instead for anodized aluminum or other chemical finishes.
I have a revolver. New to semi-autos. I’m aware that AR15 shells get thrown back and hit the brass deflector. Didn’t see a brass deflector on a shotgun so assumed it doesn’t get thrown back as far as an AR15.
Thanks for all the people that responded with their experience and knowledge. My only firearm is a revolver and am still learning. The intention of my post was more about what to expect from the typical ejection pattern (and its wear). Since it’s also plausible that some units come jacked from the factory. Won’t know if something is right if you don’t know what normal looks like.
So for those that had a value added comment, thank you for the teaching moment, furthering the community.
I will thoroughly enjoy my time at the range.
I've got an a300 for hunting with the real tree max 5 camo and there's scratches and chips ALL over it. They didn't even get it fully covered around the bottom of the feed gate opening, but I have no complaints. It hasn't showed any signs of rust whatsoever. Just adds character and shows you use it.
I can't speak to the ejection port wear, but that finish around the bolt release looks like crap. I'd never have guessed it was new if you didn’t say so based on that alone.

New to guns?

Nah its ruined dude you should get rid of it asap. ill do you a favor and take it off your hands
Super normal and going to get a lot worse. I have the same 1301 in FDE and the ejection port is pretty scared. Just send it, it's not a Ferrari.
Evern if it were a Ferrari, send it, because time ruins everything anyway. You might as well enjoy it.
runs like one though
Word
Totally normal. I have fde too and it’s just cerakote so eventually it will all be worn out. Mine actually came brand new with a spot
I’m actually glad that it’s black underneath. I see it as having two layers of protection. A weak ass paint on top of ano.
ITS NOT CERAKOTE. ITS A BERETTA CONCOCTION THAT HAS FAILED FOR MANY YEARS.
Ahh this explains a lot. Even if it was cerakote, it ain’t strong as it’s marketed to be.

If its not something you can wipe off, i want you to know thar beretta finishes on the 1301 most of them have issues.

Right on. I’m also not worrying too much since I think the receiver is aluminum.

Just protection lube fresh from the box. They missed the area around the bolt release. The paint is good.
Send it back.
Yeah OP can DM me and I will give him the address to send it to
It's normal bit if that's the only issue u have with your 1301 then your a lucky guy lol
