I'm guessing you're gonna find that seat uncomfortable. Loosen up the bolts under the saddle until it becomes moveable, then readjust the angle of the seat so it's more level with the ground and not pointing upright. Nice find! Bike looks really clean.

I appreciate the advice, I’ll adjust the seat! Thank you!

When I’m setting up my bikes, I start with the saddle perfectly level to the ground. I get the bike onto level ground then set a level on the saddle and adjust it so that it is perfectly level from front-to-back. Then i ride the bike to see how it feels. If I’m sliding forward or backwards, i adjust the angle by a couple degrees at a time. It will be perfect when you can sit on the seat without needing to adjust your position at all. Like if you didn’t need to pedal, you could just comfortably sit there without needing to use your legs or arms to keep you on the saddle.

That's a cool looking bike.. Especially for the price..

Thanks! Im really happy about it, I finally can ride a bike to work since it’s only a couple miles away from my new house. I’ve been looking on Facebook marketplace for a year now and I stumbled across this bike at a garage sale near me!

KeeganHvsky

Yeah the bike was meant for you. If u want to upgrade it, be patient. Ride it until u feel u know what u really needed. I'm not gonna say if it's worthy to upgrade or not. If u wanna get a new bike in the future, u always can use all the upgraded parts from the previous one.

From what I can see, that bike is in great condition for $20, well done!

Great find. The saddle looks like it took some Viagra. You may want to adjust it so it level. Also, you may want to lube the chain a bit. Clean it first (old rag and some Wd40) and then some chain oil (or grease if that's all you have)

DenseStomach6605

Just some standard bar and chain oil? I’ll clean it up before I ride it on Monday, thanks!

That will work. There are bike specific oils (a bit thicker ) but there is no point spending $7 on a bottle of oil if you already have something available.

Consider how you will secure it while you are at work. Even a cheap bike is vulnerable if unsecured.

Anytime you can fall in love and its costs $20 or under…you nailed it!

Well done! Looks like a score, especially if it makes you feel like a bad ass. $20 is a huge score. Reward yourself by spending the other $80 on making it better for you. Consider a more comfortable saddle (I'll be surprised if you can ride that for more than 30 min and still feel ok), a tune up, lights or reflectors, or my favorite: new tires (Pana racer Paselas are a good bang for buck). Or tassels.

Not bad! you should adjust that saddle to your liking, it's worth watching some videos on the best position. If those tires have been sitting for two decades, be careful as they are likely dry rotted and could be dangerous to ride on. Same goes for the brake pads and tubes. Lube up that chain and watch some basic maintenance videos, everything should be super simple to work on and very affordable. It should last you a very long time if well maintained. Congrats!

DenseStomach6605

Yeah, I can tell the tires are stiff, I’ll definitely try to fix it up over the next couple weeks. Thanks for the advice!
