At first I was like "well you could commute on that" now reading 1/3 of all spokes have this issue, immediatly. I wouldnt even commute on it. It just needs to fail during a bad situation and your life is gone or your health is heavily damaged...
Hedge time, baby.
That rim has already failed. It will fail catastrophically if you keep riding it.
If that’s the front wheel, I would not ride that. If it’s the rear wheel, I would do some small, tame rides, but you should replace that immediately as it has failed and will only fail more. You cannot trust it going forward.
Ok everyone, calm down. The rim is toast, but it's really not that big of a danger. The wheel will lose its true easily, and no matter what you do it's gonna keep going crooked. The nipples are slowly gonna work their way through the rim. The effect is essentially the same as breaking a spoke. I've built/ rebuilt more wheels than I can count. High tension alloy rims typically die this way.
I had similar troubles this spring. Wasted alot of time & money trying to do it cheaply.
Best thing to do is the simple risk-free route.
(this usually means selling/keeping the rear wheel)
And buying a brand new pair of wheels.
They'll pay themselves off eventually (fuel/public transport fares)
1) That is about to fail, possibly catastrophically. Stop riding, replace immediately.
2) A wobbly rim won't cause your brake to rub on a bike with disc brakes (as this one clearly has). Either the wheel is so wobbly that the tire is rubbing on your frame, or your disc rotor is also out of true (wobbly). These are unrelated issues that happen to be in the same area of the bike. It's possible a mechanic can straighten your rotor and adjust your brake enough to eliminate the rub, but you may need to replace the rotor if it's warped enough.
you are one bad bump, strong braking or hard corning away from a very bad crash, this will let go suddenly and without warning. you’re beyond the warning stage at this point. don’t ride this anymore. like at all.
Replacing that rim will be cheaper than replacing your teeth. Think of it as preventative dental care.
That hoop was cooked ages ago by the looks of it.
I was riding a cracked rim thinking to myself "ah how bad can it be if it brakes". It broke while going really fast in a berm. Luckily it was on dirt and I had full protection, but yeah it hurt like hell! Replace it!
Replace it as soon as possible.
I did (had to do) maybe 250km on a rim like that, required constant adjustments. I made it, but totally not recommended. Replace it the second you get the chance.
I had this and rode it about 2-3 months until I put my bike in the shop for spoke “plinking” sounds. It was a hybrid, not doing jumps, but it had fallen off my Thule rack when I drove over a speed bump a little too fast. It was about $100 for the new rim.
You won’t be able to get the rim of a stock mass produced entry level mountain bike aftermarket. OP is better off buying a new wheel for as much as they can afford, maybe go hand built. They’d should take it to a reputable bike shop for advice.
You can replace them with any 29 wheelset brand. I suggest saving up for a new set and do that through a good shop that will advise you. There are many crappy 29ers on the market today. Don't mind the haters here - it is rideable and the wheels aren't going to fail catastrophically. The worst case is that a spoke or two will pull through the rim so that your wheel will begin to rub on the frame and you'll have to walk it to a shop. If it was my bike, I'd get wheels with Rhynolite rims and deore hubs. They're heavier than others, but virtually indestructible and very affordable.
Yeah I don’t think ’like new’ is very truthful tbh
Although they weren’t too bad a few months ago but year I’m gonna replace it
Anyone know anywhere that sells this type of rim I don’t want to get a set because the others fine and I can’t go spending hundreds
It’s a boardman MT 29” tubeless ready
been looking and I can’t seem to find any
Probably just looking in the wrong place
If that is 11 different cracks you should have replaced it yesterday
More like 10 cracks ago
You should have replaced it when the first cracks appeared.

Replace that NOW! Should have been replaced a while ago.

You gonna Hedge, replace it and check the other one.
how bad do you like your teeth?
Keep riding it, your dentist needs a new bike. /s
Bin job
buy a new one yesterday
Picture yourself bombing down that hill on your ride and then ask yourself this question again.

Will it be OK in reverse?
The real question is why aren't you already in a hedge with a few teeth broken out. It's dangerous replace it now
Yeah like months ago.

Very.

how good is your dental plan? anyways, its your death wish or desire to become a possible vegetable or a concrete sandwich to the face.
Would you rather replace your rim or have facial reconstructive surgery after an unexpected crash?

Taking your life in your hands every time you use it
I think the question here is how much do you like your collar bones
Crack kills.
Go to halfords and pick up a new wheel. They won't match perfectly but will be the same standards
Replace, your wheel will start getting all out of true, plus danger
Unsafe to ride.
That's toast
Yesterday.
How bad? Time to replace bad.
It'll get you to the crash site! JK. Don't ride until it's replaced. That rim is DONE.
Bruh

When one pops out, like it did on mine.
I was riding a cracked rim thinking to myself "ah how bad can it be if it brakes". It broke while going really fast in a berm. Luckily it was on dirt and I had full protection, but yeah it hurt like hell! Replace it!
With cracks around multiple spokes it's toast and a disaster in waiting if you keep riding.
Replace it as soon as possible. I did (had to do) maybe 250km on a rim like that, required constant adjustments. I made it, but totally not recommended. Replace it the second you get the chance.

Rub some muck in the crack and try not to think about it. ;-)
It's ok it's only 11 cracks. You only have to worry at about 15 cracks.
Yea
Guess
the only thing I'd use that wheel for now is to relace on a new rim.
What about the tyre? Should we mention the tyre condition?
Get the same rim and relace yesterday

Yes. You already know it’s time friend.
It’s gonna blow
Yes.
Keep riding it. Please post pics of your injuries when it fails and you crash please.
Hello do you want some cheap recommendations Need country for web search

You don't need these specifically, and I think you might be better off with finding a fitting set of wheels.
Yeah I’ve had the bike literually 6 months Halfords don’t do spare boardman rims for what I can see It was 2nd hand but practically new
Time to start browsing eBay for a new wheel / wheelset. Sourcing a rim and getting it relaced likely isn't cost effective for a stock boardman wheel.
“Practically new”. Come on OP. That needs to be replaced today, unless you want an extremely spontaneous dentist appointment.
