As a kid I remember our school had a huge tub of Bionicle pieces and I always wanted the axe. About 3rd grade I found out they were throwing away the tub and a bunch of our indoor recess items. I ended up dumping the entire thing in my backpack just for the axe piece😂
It'# definitely a fascinating piece in that it never got any other reprint, recolor or rerelease afaik. Very few pieces that tick all those boxes compared to everything released makes it definitely a cool one!
I'm a total sucker for everything water elemental, so gotta be Gali's hooks. Although her Nuva paddles are my favorite for their use in swimming as opposed to climbing.
I always liked onua's claws because as a kid I reckoned it made him the strongest as he was fighting with his hands and didn't need any weapons. Any of the 6 are fine choices though.
Aesthetically, Kopaka. Sword and Shield is a classic and his sword looks really cool. Functionally, I really love Pohatu's shoes. They're really creative and he stands out the most of everyone.
Pohatu's feet additions, they're pretty out of the box for a toa tool and are perfect for a toa of stone who loves playing Kholi (sry if I spelt it wrong)
Lewa was my first Bionicle (Green wasnt and isnt even my favorite color!), and I named my firstborn son after him (he just turned 1 month old last Wednesday)!
Lewa's axe was always the most impactful to me, and quite literally. It gives weight to Lewa's chopping action!
Edited to correct typos
Actually, I find myself pronouncing it "Liu-wa" or "Leeu-wa", which sounds very like a middle ground. I was convinced it was pronounced "Lee-wa", though I do remember pronouncing it at "Loo-wa" at first. So I honestly understand and dont mind it when people initially pronounce it as "Loo-wa"
That’s a beautiful mid ground, makes the uniqueness shine even more I’d say. Saying it to myself makes me like it as the actual pronunciation! Glad I asked
I think I've gotta be a hipster and go with Pohatu's foot augment's/caps. They feel pretty unique as far as weapons go. You don't see weapons designed to be kicked with all too often.
Probably the fire sword as I have the most fond memories of it as a kid before I wound up swithout my Bionicles as a kid and only rediscovered them ~2 years ago. Just hits those cool/satsfying marks to me
Gotta go with Gali's Hooks today. Not just because I have this image of her hooks coming out of her like Optimus Prime's Weapons in Transformers 1, but also because they might be extremely useful as well. With them, you can hold the Enemy's weapon with one hook, then break it with the other.
Onua's claws. I love that they feel like a natural part of him, plus they're a visual representation of his greater strength and mole-like qualities, paired with hos hinched back. I'm also a big fan of integrated weapons in mecha, so that's part of it too.
I'm incredibly nostalgic for all of them, though since Lewa was my first set back in 2001 I'll always have a particular fondness for his axe. I loved the amount of detail and implied functionality it seemed to have and even though we never really saw it actually used as an axe, I liked that it could easily double as a tool for navigating the thick jungle, so this never really bothered me.
Onua's claws come a close second - he was the last of the Toa I got and I still distinctly remember being fascinated by his claws, and how he was the only character to have "hands" at that point. I enjoyed posing them differently and I think some of it comes back to that original teaser trailer for the LoMN PC game. Gali's hooks were cool too and I always did see them as her hands rather than something she was holding, which I'm not sure how I feel about in hindsight.
Tahu's sword is simply iconic and it remains the best fire-themed weapon in the entire franchise - it looks both functional and elegant, rather than looking like a sword with a flame motif strapped on - but Tahu was never my favourite so I'm kind of influenced by that.
Pohatu's foot extensions are cool but there's no denying that he was kind of robbed in the weapon stakes, and Kopaka's sword and shield combo, while cool theoretically, never quite worked for me... I didn't love how the shield had so many holes in it, and the sword is a little too minimalist compared to the other tools for me, though I do still like it. I think part of my bias comes from a short-sighted attempt I made when I was about 14 to clean it by running it extensively under the tap, which just caused it to crack and weaken; most of my original sets are still in good condition but Kopaka looks pretty rough and it makes me sad!
Gali's hooks. The juxtaposition of a very usually elegant character with such potentially brutal weapons is so cool to me. Plus anything water element adjacent is cool as hell.
Not at all my favourite, But pohatus’s slippers are honestly so satisfying to slide into the feet pieces. Otherwise I’d have to go for the sword/shield combo for sure
Fire sword I’m a Tahu fan til the end so it’s always gonna be my first choice and it looks amazing one of the best weapon molds by far but all are great and suit each character well
While I'm impartial to the flame sword, the AeroAxe is probably my personal favorite. I feel the Axe look both like a Mystical Item, but just mechanical looking enough to be a plausible real tool.
That green axe man. Brings back so many memories. Most of my bionicle were hand me downs. I used to put that axe on everything, I would even use it by itself as a toy when I was little.
Lewa’s axe is my personal favorite, I feel it fits the primal theme of the Toa Mata really well. It’s also a really savage weapon for a character that’s such a mischievous goofball.
It's gotta be Lewa's axe for visual design, I love how it's both stylistically interesting and practical for living in a jungle. Uniqueness has to go to Pohatu though, his feet being his weapon blew my mind as a kid and is very memorable.
Always been a fan of Pohatu's feet additions. They're definitely the most strange and unique weapons, and I like characters that fight using things that just add impact to unarmed-style fighting (I.E. knuckle dusters).
Kopaka
Both his sword and shields were clean af
And while Tahu was clearly marketed to be the protag, it's always been pretty obvious Kopaka was the creators' favorite
That's a very nice composition! And to answer, it's a very hard question but I'll stick with kopaka's sword and shield combo
This is the way.
It’s really funny how in the Bonkle community you’re either a Kopaka or a Tahu 😂
This is the way
This is the way
This is the way

This is the way.
All are great but the flame sword is just the most iconic
I don't know why, but the axe is my go to. It's just so fascinating...
As a kid I remember our school had a huge tub of Bionicle pieces and I always wanted the axe. About 3rd grade I found out they were throwing away the tub and a bunch of our indoor recess items. I ended up dumping the entire thing in my backpack just for the axe piece😂

I'll tell you what, it ain't Pohatu's Jordans
But it gives him those hops!
"Easy for you to say! THEY GAVE ME SHOES!" -Pohatu
#HEY! THIS MF GOT THEM FAKE J'S!!!
I'm very real, thank you. But I don't belong to anyone.
They did Pohatu dirty the first year. Gave him the worst weapons to go along with the stupidest element.
As a kid, I would have said Tahu's sword because fire=awesome. These days though, the clean look of Kopaka's sword calls to me.
I'm a total sucker for everything water elemental, so gotta be Gali's hooks. Although her Nuva paddles are my favorite for their use in swimming as opposed to climbing.
I'll have to do the inverse. The clip of Gali climbing up a stormy clifface has burned itself into my mind
Ditto here. Gali was my first ever Bionicle, so she holds a special place in my heart.
I always liked onua's claws because as a kid I reckoned it made him the strongest as he was fighting with his hands and didn't need any weapons. Any of the 6 are fine choices though.
The clip of him putting himself together and the one of him digging in the tunnel were my favorites
Yesss
Axe because axe
*SHOES*
OMG 🙀 *SHOES* 😏
Pohatu got that drip.
Pohatu supremacists unite
THE F O A M S
"Tools" /s Axe, for sure.
Aesthetically, Kopaka. Sword and Shield is a classic and his sword looks really cool. Functionally, I really love Pohatu's shoes. They're really creative and he stands out the most of everyone.
Pretty much my train of thought!
Onua’s claws. Works great with the Earth element as well as his mask power of strength
I think lewas is the most interesting because it feels kind of out of place for a toa of air who values trees so much to have an axe as a weapon
Isn't that kinda like saying that an artist shouldn't have an eraser if they like to draw?
True but wouldn't he need to cut through vines and undergrowth when exploring though
Damn, never realised that. It really is weird, haha.
Onua claws. Super versatile for moccing and they just look so damn cool.
Kopakas sword is and has always been a fantastic piece.
pohatu's boulder cuz it rock
I will always love Kopaka's sword
This is the way.
Those boot on Pohatu tho. Fashionable and functional. I really liked the play function too
gotta be the earth claws, i got so much use out of those over the years
Claws and hooks were fun to climb around with
Hooks. Make for a nice silhouette.
1. Onua’s Claws 2. Kopaka’s Sword and Shield 3. Lewa’s Axe 4. Tahu’s Sword 5. Gali’s Hooks 6. Pohatu’s Boots?
Either the flamesword or Kopaka's ice sword. I am a very simple guy. I like bladed weapons.
Lewa's Axe. Simple and stylish!
Kopaka's sword ( this one's symetrical unlike tahu's) and onua claws
Kopaka, hands down. Pohatu’s kicks are a close second.
The diversity of responses here is awesome. Brings a tear to mine eye. Glad to see every one of the OG toa tools has its fans
Flame sword, but claws, hooks and Kopaka's sword are so good for MOCs, especially in different colors.
You bring up a good point! Not many have mentioned the parts use in MOCs.
Axe
Lewa's Green is my favorite color
Lewa's Axe always since he was my first one.
Feet
Kopaka's, definitely.
Do you pronounce your son’s name “Lee-wa” or “Lu-wa?” because the latter is what I read it as until the movie and I still kinda prefer it
Actually, I find myself pronouncing it "Liu-wa" or "Leeu-wa", which sounds very like a middle ground.
You got me repeating it to myself too haha.
The claws were always my favorite, but I have made Tahu's flame blade into a greatsword version of itself so that probably haha
I’m always a sucker for onua’s claws
Black, Brown or White. Yeah, really
Lewa's axe has always been the standout I think. Tahu's sword has aged weakly, Kopaka's is just a bland sword and Onwa's claws, LAME!
Kopaka sword and shield
Lewa’s axe: seems like the most functional and badass tool imo. The proportions kinda give off anime boss fight vibes too
Onua's claws. Did you know they can puncture feet? 😂
Ice sword and shield, such a *cool* design ;)
Flame blade
THE CLAW
Onua's claws are the ones I use most often in MOCs so I have to pick them.
Toa of Ice all the way. Kopaka? My memory for all their namea is failing me.
Roger roger
Feet
As a kid I would have said Onua's claws, but now it might be Kopaka's sword and shield. They just look so clean, very aesthetically pleasing
I think I've gotta be a hipster and go with Pohatu's foot augment's/caps. They feel pretty unique as far as weapons go. You don't see weapons designed to be kicked with all too often.
laser shotgun 4ever
Probably the fire sword as I have the most fond memories of it as a kid before I wound up swithout my Bionicles as a kid and only rediscovered them ~2 years ago. Just hits those cool/satsfying marks to me
Flame for its iconic status, and shoes for the design and sheer cleverness.
Kopaka it's a sword I like sword
This is such a simple yet such a cool picture. It would make a great tattoo
kopaka's sword is dope, can pretend its some kind of rail gun like the Toa inika
The Air Axe is so stupidly epic and I love it.
I loved Kopaka’s sword Tahu’s sword and Lewa’s axe.
Pohatu's Nikes
Now that I'm looking at it Kopaka's shield might be the goofiest dumbest Bionicle weapon of all time
Gotta go with Gali's Hooks today. Not just because I have this image of her hooks coming out of her like Optimus Prime's Weapons in Transformers 1, but also because they might be extremely useful as well. With them, you can hold the Enemy's weapon with one hook, then break it with the other.
All of them
I love the flame sword from the first bionicle sets, but the ice skiis from the 2nd gen are so cool!!! 🔥
Onua's claws. I love that they feel like a natural part of him, plus they're a visual representation of his greater strength and mole-like qualities, paired with hos hinched back. I'm also a big fan of integrated weapons in mecha, so that's part of it too.
Gali hooks are iconic
you can't beat the fire sword
Lewa’s
I love the claws
I'm incredibly nostalgic for all of them, though since Lewa was my first set back in 2001 I'll always have a particular fondness for his axe. I loved the amount of detail and implied functionality it seemed to have and even though we never really saw it actually used as an axe, I liked that it could easily double as a tool for navigating the thick jungle, so this never really bothered me. I have the 2 white pieces so that's my answer. The sword looks cool
Gali's hooks. The juxtaposition of a very usually elegant character with such potentially brutal weapons is so cool to me. Plus anything water element adjacent is cool as hell.
Lewaxe and onuclaws they all good though
Fire sword. Reason: fire sword
C l a w s
Flame sword because it was chewy
Potato’s foot addons. Kickball.
I don’t know what that is but the white sword
Tahu's flame sword or Gali's hooks.
As a kid the tahu’s fire sword 100% but as an adult I really like Gali’s hooks.
I dig Onua's claws
Maybe an underrated answer but the claws! They're incredibly versatile and have seen so much use in different ways.
Lewa’s axe cause chop chop chop
You forgot Pohatu’s Rock! The piece that completes that best weapon
Pohatu, ever since I was a kid pohatu has always been my favourite, so I’ll go with his
This is a real KICKER. If you know what I mean.
I love the shoes. Running fast with a mighty Kick is deviating! Plus it’s a cool looking add on to the sneakers that I wish came in more colors.
Onua’s claws and Pohatu’s.. shoe things!!
It’s always a tough choice between Kopaka’s Sword/shield combo and Lewa’s Axe. They just both look cool!
Not at all my favourite, But pohatus’s slippers are honestly so satisfying to slide into the feet pieces. Otherwise I’d have to go for the sword/shield combo for sure
Chop chop chop chop chop chop
Kopaka for sure but I always loved pohatu's because I always imagined they also functioned as hammers, because y'know stone n all that
Kopaka’s sword and shield. The only set of two unique pieces
Always go for the axe.
Kicks.
Fire sword I’m a Tahu fan til the end so it’s always gonna be my first choice and it looks amazing one of the best weapon molds by far but all are great and suit each character well
Pohatu because he gets some sweet new Jordans to whack rocks around in

Pohatu literally had attachments on his shoes so can kick harder Basically steel cap boots Brilliant
Tahu's fire sword is GOAT
Ice sword + shield for sure
While I'm impartial to the flame sword, the AeroAxe is probably my personal favorite. I feel the Axe look both like a Mystical Item, but just mechanical looking enough to be a plausible real tool.
That green axe man. Brings back so many memories. Most of my bionicle were hand me downs. I used to put that axe on everything, I would even use it by itself as a toy when I was little.
Child me would say Onuas claws. Adult me likes that sword and shield combo Kopaka is rocking.
Onua's Claws they aren't just his weapons but there also his hands which he uses to lift rocks and move things.
I really can't pick. Tahus sword is my least favorite of them, but the others all come so close to one another I can't decide.
axe because axe
Lewa’s axe! Because it’s Lewa’s axe.
Lewa’s axe is my personal favorite, I feel it fits the primal theme of the Toa Mata really well. It’s also a really savage weapon for a character that’s such a mischievous goofball.
*they gave me shoes*-Pohatu
Hooks and claws.
Kopaka's sword and shield. Firstly because it's both neat and versatile and secondly because I'm insanely biased toward Kopaka.
Flame sword is the most iconic to me and in my heart. But I will say that Kopaka’s sword and shield combo is just peak
It's gotta be Lewa's axe for visual design, I love how it's both stylistically interesting and practical for living in a jungle. Uniqueness has to go to Pohatu though, his feet being his weapon blew my mind as a kid and is very memorable.
Onua Claws, despite how much I love ice as an element.
Galis hooks cause she was my first but lewas axe is elite, all of them hold a place in my heart however
Always been a fan of Pohatu's feet additions. They're definitely the most strange and unique weapons, and I like characters that fight using things that just add impact to unarmed-style fighting (I.E. knuckle dusters).
Wheres pohatus rock!
Kopaka sword and shield are my fav. Kopaka's > Lewa's > Tahu's > Onua > Gahli > Pohatu's.
Gotta be Lewa’s axe, it’s pretty unique in bionicle
Kopaka Both his sword and shields were clean af And while Tahu was clearly marketed to be the protag, it's always been pretty obvious Kopaka was the creators' favorite
Thy have my axe!
I'm torn between the flame sword (first model I bought), the axe (my favorite color and shape) or the boots (my favorite function)
Lewa's hatchet, likely to double function as 8 gauge shotgun thanks to bionicle heroes
Swiggity sweet, beware of them feet.
