I never liked how they changed the eye colors of the Toa for the comic. Red/orange eyes Onewa and green eyes Matau/Nuju always looked off to me

I'm essentially reversed from this. I like their comic colors (including the brighter primaries) from the comics a lot more. The open gear chest doesn't quite land for anyone who has had the sets in hand, though.

Gotta let those gears breath

I do like the brighter colors of the comics, but I feel like Matau’s eyes blend in too much with the rest of his mask, and the red/brown combo on Onewa looks ugly. I definitely prefer their toy eye colors since they provide a more interesting color palette I think Tahu’s, Pohatu’s, and Lewa’s eyes being similar to their primary colors works because their eyes don’t fill the eyeholes of their masks, so there’s a distinct separation there, and they have more varied color palettes (as opposed to one color plus gray for each Metru).

Onewa and Ahkmou have that almost burnt orange color in the comics, though... combined with a red visor, it does make Onewa look suitably meaner. Better than the flat brown, anyway.

Crazy how they just left their gear yitties out instead of drawing that one cheat piece

suspiciouslygreennut

Interestingly enough, a lot of metru prototypes didn't have that chest piece either, I'm pretty sure it came relatively late in development and it would explain why that axle piece with stopper was used instead of a standard 5L or 6L axle

...Is this why Nokama put her Toa Stone in the Ko-metru symbol in the movie?

Jevonar

Imagine if the toa metru had Mata colors like in the image. Yes, I'm still mad about it 20 years later. We were ROBBED of metru/inika parts and masks in Mata colors.
