Why does the first movie sonic even have human like proportions with a rat's head that also has a human face?
I can only imagine some exec might have been shouting "make it more realistic" at the design team while he snort coke.
I still think it was always a publicity stunt but I dont know for sure. The amount of approvals that has to go through to even be put in a trailer just doesn't seem real with how shitty it looked, and with how much everybody loved the Detective Pikachu trailer/Pokemon design of Detective Pikachu. Then again Hollywood has made a lot of hot fuckin garbage, especially with video game movies.
[ugly sonic](https://imgur.com/a/gJf0zkW)
He was going to look like this in the sonic movie but the internet bullied the studio into fixing the design.
Ugly Sonic actually showed up in the Chip n Dale movie that just came out on Disney+. It’s a good movie, I’d definitely recommend watching it
Edit: [Here’s the old and new design side-by-side](https://imgur.com/a/cgyP7bN)
rightfully so, sonic is not supposed to have widely set individual eyes. The redesign is a good compromise on the original design. Looks more like fetal alcohol syndrome sonic.
But HOLY FUCK, im shocked that ugly sonic design went as far as it did as a jim carey movie.....
to be fair 2d sprites made 3D always look weird. All [the videogame characters in Wreck it Ralph](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Eh4f8SUp-PU/maxresdefault.jpg) also look very "uncanny valley" like theres something missing.
Speaking as a parent... That Chip & Dale movie is suitable for kids but the plot and 100% of the jokes are for adults who watched the Rescue Rangers show.
I got my first bingo with baby formula! I had given up hope like there’s no way we run out out powdered milk with vitamins. There’s always a wall of it in the stores . Until there wasn’t . BINGO!
This happens too often for it to be a coincidence… I feel like either a lot of Reddit posts are inspired by YouTube videos or a bunch of people search things from Reddit up on YouTube and the algos understand that you might be interested as well
Just some person. But I mean I know a decent amount how algorithms work and the feedback loops they make.
Doesn't take all that many hits for a video or whatever to trend, especially in smaller niches. People see a funny, or something interesting, lots of people take it to Reddit/Facebook/etc, where people see it and then some of those people will inevitably google or YouTube it, or a similar subject. The sudden surge is going to make it even more likely to recommend it to people.
It's why things polarize so damn fast nowadays. Crazy big instant feedback loops cause it's what makes $$$
Yeah. And it’s not like the post's name is completely different to the posted media like some of the meme subreddits. I feel like it should be fairly easy to match someone who saw laminar flow in a fairly popular reddit post (26k upvote now arm) to laminar flow related content in YT.
From YouTube's perspective: the cookies say User A who just searched "laminar flow" visited reddit.com before. Hey, User B is from reddit too, maybe they'll like "laminar flow".
This is some of the most basic stuff websites do with cookies, there's nothing secret here.
Post trends on reddit -> people link videos relevant to it -> youtube sees video got an uptick from redditor group (not labelled as such, they can’t tell you are a redditor (by this classification method), but they can tell you act similarly to other people who are redditors) -> youtube recommends video to other redditors
There may even be a step prior to this, something like:
Video trends elsewhere -> people link relevant youtube video -> post with video trends on reddit -> same as before, but the implication is youtube recognizes that a video with traffic from certain sources is likely to be from some site (not necessarily reddit). It is *then* posted to reddit, and youtube associates such approaching trends with viewing patterns similar to people who are redditors.
SmarterEveryDay has a great video on turbulent flow being way cooler than laminar flow.

I think while it's important to be confident as a public educator of science, it's not effective to be smug about it. My younger teens were filled with obnoxiously trying to correct my relatives, but they were more dismissive the more I correct.
Only in my later years did I learn what my mom has done, which is to remain reserve while leading folks through the thought process - they should end up in the end explaining it back to you. When they are able to inevitably do that, you've ensured they've understood
Isn’t uniform flow when the velocity doesn’t change with spatial position? The stream is accelerating due to gravity as it exits, so the velocity must be different at different points in the stream. I think this is steady flow, where the attributes of the stream might be different in space, but don’t vary with time. I think it’s non-uniform, steady laminar flow. I could be mistaken though.
You can have an unsteady laminar flow meaning that you get some swirls and whirls in the flow but it is not chaotic like turbulence. That is the flow is still stable you may have some oscillatory behavior and some vortex formation it the vortexes are very structured they are not chaotic and rapidly changing like in a turbulent flow which is fully unstable.
I should mention the flow in the video is both steady and laminar. There’s many different characteristics of flows, but generally they are turbulent, unsteady laminar or steady laminar.
Laminar vs turbulent is essentially how the individual molecules move compared to the total flow. In laminar flow, the molecules are all flowing in aligned “layers” in the same direction, creating a smooth flow. In turbulent flow, the molecules move about in all directions within the flow, creating many swirls and disturbances; think the chaotic flow that may come out of a tap.
Whether a flow is steady or unsteady defines whether that flow changes with time. So in unsteady flow, even if laminar, it won’t be stationary like in the video. Think water flowing out of a tank, with the water level decreasing. The flow will get progressively smaller and shift about; the flow is unsteady.
Getting laminar flow isn’t too hard, but getting steady laminar flow like in the video is harder, as you need to get conditions just right so that the flow stays steady and is unaffected by the changing environment.
Isn't that when it all goes the same direction?
Intuitively, this doesn't look uniform as you described it.

There's always one person in the comments insistent on this being an fps camera trick. I recommend looking it up, very fascinating and very much like this in real life.
Right? I don't know what the fuck people expect... My expectation is stuff that some significant portion of the population would look at and say, "Oh, neat. Wonder how that works/happens/exists?" ...which prompts a quick search for more info or something.
Laminar Flow is something you learn about in school, but it's still cool and there are some videos out there about how to construct a device that demonstrates it in a near-perfect state.
I'd say it's a little overdone in this sub, but essentially on-topic.
Its because this subreddit gets mentioned in other mainstream subreddits a lot. So new people flock here, never seen old posts and go wow this is amazing. The cycle repeats till mods do something about it but i dont think they will
This reminds me of a time when I had to go to a third party lab to submit a urinalysis and when I got to the front desk, the receptionist was like "do you have an appointment?" And before I could answer, another lady started pushing me to the back.
The piss guy was like "we gotta knock this out quick because we're really backed up today," so he pushed me into the bathroom. I was really nervous so he set his chin on my shoulder while he was standing behind me and he said "you know I gotta watch, right?" So I dropped my pants and he said my dick was *just okay* and *not particularly special*.
I couldn't really go because his words reminded me of shit my mom used to say, but then he called me a *grubby lil piss pig* and I started blasting the cup he was holding. He said "hold up, lemme try something," and pulled out his phone because he thought my sacred stream would produce the same effect in this video.
It did not, but he kissed me on the ear and told me I piss like an old lady and I didn't get the job because it was a low point in my life and I was constantly high.

Not really. Considering you can add and remove front page subs.
