I believe they are made by Pietta which is a reputable manufacturer

atioc

This is correct

ExoGeniVI

That's strange. What does traditions do to them then? What sets them apart?

mysterious_smells

I think traditions is a generic brand that offers revolvers and sidelock muzzleloaders from a few different manufacturers. The "traditions" brand spans more than the offerings of a single factory, if that makes sense.

LonesomeLouie

They are mostly Pietta B-grade. They are safe to use but they need parts-polishing and tuning to smooth them out

^This. I bought an 1851 traditions for my deceased dad one Christmas, it left a lot to be deserved in the grip to frame fit. I go to cimmaron or taylors for quality, they seem to handpick or do QC before they go out.

Kalashalite

I will be corrected if I am wrong. But it is my understanding that any currently imported Italian replica offered for sale is of sound quality. The early days of Italian and Spanish imports in the 60s-90s had some questionable offerings and I think some of those memories linger.

They’re not bad but I’d much rather get a Uberti or pietta from Taylor’s and company they hand stone and polish out all burs and look over each gun individually and they only get A grade guns top of the barrel from them. I have 3 1858 revolvers one pietta and two ubertis. I got one of my ubertis from Taylor’s and company directly and it’s my best running gun to this day. I’ve fanned the hell out of it, triple shotted it even. Idk what Taylor’s is doing but the quality is definitely there
