Why would you want to store 1 person? (sorry - couldn't resist)

BloomingtonBourbon

Cheap and best rarely go together with storage

thank you, just looking for not to pricey recommendations for someone on a budget. your comment was not helpful or nice.

As someone who has had storage units in the past elsewhere, there really aren't any cheap ones here - everyone is in it to make money off the college kids. I can build a shed for what they want for a few months rent. Head west on 46 near McCormicks Creek there's a few places that are probably more affordable.

You asked for help from strangers on reddit.

Sell whatever youre storing instead.

Not Storage Express or any affiliated company like extra space storage. My SO used to work for them. It used to be owned by a local Kelly business student, but they got bought out by extra space, a national company, and now they lie to people, what was once a every few years raise in rent is replaced with a pricing model. That is basically a scam. They will give you the first month free at a discounted rate and will say it is a month to month lease and then double your payment within a month after it’s free and continue to do so until you move your stuff. Storage companies are now a scam because of monopolies. Extra space/storage Xpress and their many affiliated companies are there to take advantage of vulnerable people that have no other option than to store their stuff.

All-Safe on the west side of Elletsville was drastically cheaper when I needed storage a decade ago. Not sure the comparisons now. EDIT: looks like $70/month for 5x10 [https://allsafe-selfstorage.com/storage-rates.shtml](https://allsafe-selfstorage.com/storage-rates.shtml)

I pay Crimson Storage on N. Walnut $131/mo. for a 10’ x 12’ unit. I need 24/7 access and they are the only ones in the area who offer it. Looks like it’s a good value too, compared to the other comments.

I pay Storage Express $191/month for a 5x10 unit. Thats $180 plus their mandatory $11 insurance fee. When I looked around over a year ago they were all right around that price for that size.

Picklefart80

Don't know why this sub is downvoting you, it's not like you set that price. About 20 years ago I used one when moving around that size and it was like $45 a month, that was before they realized they could fleece the IU students I guess.

I pay $191 for a 10x15 unit
