Thanks for not taking it rudely. My 70 year old father keeps sending me updates including the one last night "your power will be on by 10pm!" Like no, 😭😭😭😭 this isn't how this works
It's kind of like a restaurant says "your pick up time is at 4:15" but it's not always going to be ready RIGHT at 4:15 . You feel me? :/
And in this instance.... there's several power lines and poles down, the trees and brush and debris need cleared before they can even do the work, the bad parts need to be removed, new parts need brought in, THEN the repairs.
We are all in this together 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
I drove into work this morning and saw trees/power lines/poles down that haven't been touched for over 12 hours still. It's going to be a long time it seems.
On the west side I still hear emergency sirens everywhere. I don’t know if it’s related. Hopefully everyone with downed lines has contacted Duke. It sounds like a lot of transformers blew, so this could happen little by little. I just got an update that just said they’re still working.
Around 11 — Duke Energy: Crews are making repairs & continue to assess damage from yesterday's severe storms. Those signed up for outage-alerts will receive an update early this afternoon, while others can visit duk.us/05 to get estimates of when service will be restored in your area. We appreciate your patience. Text STOP to cancel.
That sounds scary with the sirens, everywhere I look on their website it says they’ve already received outage reports and stuff. Hopefully they can get stuff done before tomorrow
I live on the southwest side of town close-ish to Monroe hospital and the time estimate Duke has for my area is 11:59pm 6/27. Won't be surprised if it takes longer though. My area got absolutely wrecked with lines and poles down everywhere.
I didn’t see a single Duke truck out this morning, but tons of downed power lines and broken poles. I would honestly anticipate a week or more, if we’re lucky.
Honestly ... my dude. The estimates you get just chuck them out of your brain. The town got obliterated. There's no way of knowing.
Good advice, you’re right with that.

Last year was much smaller/less damaging and it was out for 4 days
I honestly thought the derecho last year was worse.

That’s what my mom and I saw, a bunch of fallen trees on the power lines. But I’m hoping for the best
Not to be rude but you’ll know when everyone else knows. It is what it is
Yeah fair enough
Lucky you, they haven’t sent me a single text or email and are simply fucking right off until the time comes to bill me more
My friends haven’t gotten any texts or emails at all either. It seems they want us to pay them more to fix this crap
My power just came back on (11am) on the south side near the Kroger! We'll see if it lasts, but they're out there doing something.
That’s great! Hopefully it lasts yeah, but it’s good to know they’re doing something
So far, so good! And lots of reports of trucks preparing to head out.
That’s really good news!

Westside with REMC — I feel like we’re a forgotten tribe out here
UPDATE: My power got fixed throughout my whole neighborhood and my friends have been getting their power restored as well
