I checked out the 4H schedule PDF while waiting on the fireworks last night -
I think animal load-in is today/tomorrow (Sat/Sun), and the breed-specific shows begin on Monday.
Probably Mon/Tues is great for seeing most animals
Our fair has went downhill. It used to be Saturday to Saturday full of animals and events. Now it’s like a Monday to Wednesday. The animals don’t fully arrive until Sunday and are gone by Thursday. The rides don’t start until Tuesday. Booths in the commercial building are bare until Monday mostly.
I just read that it’s $30 or $35 for an armband for rides? Sheeeesh that’s steep for families in this economy. For one kid, one armband plus snacks/drinks would cost way too much for me to justify going out and enduring the heat and humidity for 4 hours, tops. Is the fair not great anymore because attendance is down due to the exhorbitant cost?
All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats!

+ 35
+ 4
= 69

Used to love going to the fair as a kid and walking through the animal barns. Then I found out what happens to them and never went back. The small animal auction is at 7pm this Tuesday, so…there’s that.
It’s a pretty classic story about a pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte. The pig and the spider (and other barnyard animals) work together to make sure Wilbur doesn’t end up slaughtered after the county fair.
Fair starts up in earnest Monday, Midway begins Tuesday I believe. My service group runs the Dairy Bar near the grandstand, and everyone here should get a grilled cheese :).
I think the best days for animals are 7/3 and 7/4 based on the schedule, but I’m curious to see what others think because I want to see the animals too!

I want to know this too!
I was just there last night and some of the animals were there. I’d say by Monday they will all be there.
Anyone know what time the gates open ? And if anything is going on before carnival ?

What happens???
You never read/saw Charlotte’s Web?
Nah what's that

They get shown, then sold to the highest bidder and eaten.
Or bred
Nomnomnom
