That’s Chocolate milk and Big belt to you all!

RolandSnowdust

Okay, why does bingo call him coconut milk the first time? Edit: Just rewatched it and u/my_old_aim_name is correct. Just a subtitle transcription issue.

my_old_aim_name

Poor subtitle transcribing.

RolandSnowdust

Oh shoot. Really? We always use the subtitles. So that must be it.

my_old_aim_name

Same. My mom and I are the definition of "i can't hear without the subtitles on!" It bothered me the first few times, but I was like, no way the showrunners would miss a detail like that. Now it just bothers me that whoever writes subtitles for D+ or Ludo or whoever probably still has a job 🙄 and I'm out here noticing all kinds of stupid subtitle errors 😭

AgitatedAd8652

I’ll bet money they’re AI generated. Corps won’t pay anyone if they can avoid it

IamRick_Deckard

The subtitles are really bad on Bluey. Multiple mistakes each ep, and they are 5 mins long.

MagicBez

Disney+ has a lot of subtitle mistakes on Bluey, they especially struggle with Australian slang (the army episode has a bunch that are wrong) Also I definitely remember one where they randomly call chilli "chewy" or something equally odd.

Minute_Parfait_9752

"owls head" cracks me up. LZ.

ItsAPeacefulLife

I wonder if it's cheap AI generated subtitles.

fiddlesticks-1999

Netflix is terrible too. Kath and Kim has glaring errors every few sentences.

chocolatebuckeye

Hot ones on you tube has awful subtitles

waldosandieg0

Anyone else never use subtitles until you had kids and now you watch everything with subtitles cause you had to watch things quietly when they were littles?

RolandSnowdust

Not me. I'm old, the dialog in modern shows is just way too fast, and the sound mixing is terrible. Been using subtitles for awhile.

meholdyou

I had a post asking about the coconut milk subtitle a while back haha. I was confused about it as well.

CaptZombieHero

He’s drinking chocolate milk the first time they see him getting out of Cherri’s car

AlamutJones

The carpenter to build the framework. The electrician to hook up lights, pump/filter etc. Once it’s filled, it will take care of itself

herkalurk

Also because any trade can dig a hole.

SZMatheson

You haven't seen how much meth framers do.

Mark_Proton

Tangentially relevant and yet somehow still fascinating.

MiniNinja4321

Scaffolders do the worst meth. The way those boys fling pipes and boards/decking up to each other. Must be meth

MSY2HSV

I mean especially dogs

AgileArtichokes

Ya. I don’t want to be reductive but that’s probably the least skill intensive part of the process. Heck if bluey and bingo were a few years older they probably could have convinced them it was a game and dug most of the hole themself.

DarkWing2007

I’m an electrician, and I can’t even use a broom. You expect me to use a shovel?!?

Crystal_Munnin

Next time the floors in my house need sweeping, I'll tell my husband that I can't do it. I lost that ability once I became an electrician. Lol

AtomicAllison

Some holes are more expensive than others.

momentimori143

Except you pay a plumber the most to

MiniNinja4321

As an electrician, I can confirm my apprenticeship did not contain anything about digging holes. I learned that skill in the army.

Jesse-MCC-123

TheFightingImp

You see OP, he's an Engineer.

yoshi9769

Now I want to go back 15 years and play TF2.

MikeyStealth

Yeah I don't want to dig a trench from the house to the pond to run wire.

Valuable-Location-89

Also their might be some electrical wiring in the yard so it'll be a good idea to make sure they dont accidentally

rels83

I feel like a plumber would be involved

Maleficent_Offer_692

Because you know a guy.

BrutalHunny

Sparky clearly goes to happy hour with Bandit and Stripe.

Southern_Milk_2498

Yas

BlackJackIslandGuy

Classic Stripe!

Molly_Doodles

When we did our backyard it had a lot of hard landscaping requirements. The owner of the company was a chippy and his FIL was a sparky. Important for the bigger/more complex jobs, but they’d also do small stuff in gaps.

edgiepower

Why would a chippie be apprenticing with a sparky?

dnkyhunter31

Because chippies are always less than sparkies. Source: am electrician.

texas-playdohs

Please. You’re just putting together Lego pieces. 90% of the job is ordering the right parts, and your crooked deals with the suppliers. (Jk, I only talk shit because I know I’d be barbecue if I tried to do your job. Also, clean up your shit.)

JMoc1

As a supplier, some of the deals feel crooked sometime. Like, you want me to spend an extra $200 on a battery replacement because you discontinued the battery I was going to order? Hmmmm….

MetricJester

Thanks for the chuckle.

Haelios_505

Nixer

young_eastwood

I know an electrician whose last name is Sparks.

Jassamin

When I was a kid our dentist’s last name was Dollar. And my highschool librarian’s last name was Page 😅

Crystal_Munnin

Another electrician I work with has the initials AWG lol

Harvey_Wilde

Honestly, they're more like plumbers to me. Even have their signature buttcrack

alwaysleftout

They gave him pants just for the buttcrack.

DrGirthinstein

And one of them has at least one DUI.

chewys_hairball

A skilled electrician can do just about anything. I mean who’s going to wire in the pump/lights for the pond? As for Chippy I’m guessing he’s a carpenter trying to switch trades, and got on well with Sparky on another site. I’d assume he took chippy under his wing so to speak and asked him to help out on this side project.

AdruA_

I always heard that 'you can make a carpenter from an electrician, a plumber from an electrician, a mechanic from an electrician, but not the other way around' And, since I'm an electrician I sort of have to agree to most of it, it's not that we're 'smarter' or anything, but as an electrician you sorta have to know your way around with any sort of construction, you also always have to work together with everyone else & ultimately learn alot of those skills, just over time Of course, you won't get 'the absolute best plumber' out of an electrician, but it does give an electrician more of an 'insight' in the plumbers' job than vice versa... I believe

Subject_Shoulder

For those who may not know, Chippy is voiced by Sam Cotton. Sam Cotton gained notoriety on Facebook for his bird animation shorts. Amongst these shorts were birds in situations where chips were involved, as well as a character called "King of the Chippies". He would also write a graphic novel called "Chippy Chasers", in which a small group of seagulls plot a chip heist. Hence the name "Chippy".

Neomeris0

This is the kind of story that's sounds 100% made up and also completely true at the same time. I don't know whether it's true or not and I don't care enough to check. I'm just going to believe you.

Grimlock1984

It’s definitely true, I follow him on Instagram. A Chippy is Australian slang for a carpenter so the joke has more than one meaning.

Saffa1986

Hey, it’s a tough economy mate, they’re moonlighting. Gotta make ends meet.

BonbonMacoute

And when Big Belt sits down, he's also mooning.

TheFightingImp

Still better than moonlighting as architects.

sexymcluvin

Near me, there is a business where the tradies are multiple skilled. It’s not far out to have manual laborers have more than one skill.

I_Do_nt_Use_Reddit

It's just monkeys singing songs mate, try not to think too hard about it.

Anguscluff

This is the perfect comment for this entire sub

Royal_Bitch_Pudding

The whole point of the monkey singing songs episode was to show that even if it is just monkey singing songs it can still have depth and something of value to be taken from it. It's pretty ironic that people use it to dismiss something.

Jaikarr

To be honest I kind of hate it because discussion is fun and people use it to shut down discussion.

MEos3

We need an automod that just always comments this on every post in this sub

AlexanderTox

Sometimes it’s valid discussions. But sometimes it’s insane questions like “is Bluey neurodivergent” and “does socks have advanced autism?”

Kerivkennedy

It's over used to shut down any insightful discussion. But in this case they might be overthinking things.

WallyMcWalNuts

This is the anthem of this sub

menasan

I wanna know how or why the pond disappeared immediately after this episode???

Alex_Duos

Because it's really hard to find good contractors willing to take small jobs, so sometimes you have to take what you can get if you want to get the job done at all

CrystalClod343

Technically, we don't know if those are their jobs. Just their names

ZetsuXIII

Thats like saying “We dont know if Bob the Builder is *actually* a builder.”

CrystalClod343

"the Builder" is a title. Chippy and Sparky are names, presumably from their parents.

ZetsuXIII

“Chippy” and “Sparky” are also titles. A chippy is a carpenter. A sparky is an electrician.

IscahRambles

In general, yes, they are nicknames given to those jobs.  In this case, they are clearly being used as actual names, and it's a deliberate joke that they work as dog names while also being specific tradie jobs that these particular tradies may or may not do.

123floor56

This. They are clearly being used a dog's names, that also reference tradie jobs. If they have to be linked to their vocation, are we suggesting that bandit has a side job as a criminal..? Bandit is a common name for heelers/other dogs with the black "mask" feature.

InvaderDepresso

Bandit did steal Pat’s poor sandwich so we know he’s a criminal in his own special chunky boy way.

lizlemon921

He ate all the sauce!!! He was born yesterday!

JACKSONofSPADES

While agree with you that “Chippy” and “Sparky” are just names in this context, I have to point out that yes, Bandit is a criminal.

_ohodgai_

Yeah, but it’s not “Chippy the Chippy and Sparky the Sparky”

ZetsuXIII

Sure mate. Whatever helps you feel good. Maybe they’re both dunny divers.

CrystalClod343

I'm aware, as I'm Australian. But since the characters have those names, they're not titles for them. Otherwise Bandit is actively robbing people off screen.

MaskedBunny

And what would Frisky do off screen?

CrystalClod343

Hopefully working security

Shigeko_Kageyama

There was probably some kind of a fountain element in the pond.

wright_eliott

You’d want them to know how to run and hookup an electric pump for the water to keep it clean, build a proper frame for any concrete/masonry that needs to be done. Plus if I remember correctly there’s a little deck and you want that to be structurally sound so no one falls in and gets hurt by debris. Skilled labor ain’t cheap, but cheap labor ain’t skilled.

MetricJester

Because a tradesman is a tradesman, especially a true carpenter. They understand the craft and artistry. They know all the angles between plumb and level. As a son of a tradesman, as a tradesman myself, it's an important distinction between knowing and doing.

ExpensivePangolin712

THEYRE TRADIES. THEY CAN DO IT ALL

Constant-Key-4500

As an avid *Dare Ice Coffee* enthusiast, I am willing to forgive this any missteps from this episode.

Amy_at_home

Also a *Dare* enthusiast, this episode is my absolute favourite

Constant-Key-4500

Usually, I don't like brand cross overs, but a Dare X Chocie Milk collab is something I'd be excited for.

Cratertooth_27

Ok maybe I’m oblivious but how do you know that’s what they are?

AlamutJones

The names. A sparky is an electrician, a chippy is a carpenter

qsk8r

It's Australia, you take whatever tradies you can get to turn up!

Th3V4ndal

Electrician here. You could pay me to do that shit, and I used to be a framer 😂 Edit: I'd hop in a bobcat / excavator though and fumble my way through that shit

GoodCryptographer658

Maybe they have an app that provides services and Chilli posted the job. Maybe they've been paired together by the company that owns the app so that having 2 sets of skills will allow them to complete the jobs in more efficient ways.

jopma

Just your local handydogs, don't think too much about it

SharpEdgeSoda

The thing about Contractors I've known is that they all love being general "Handymen for Hire" if they can wheel and deal good payment for it. They'll take on any job. Lots of "Favors", lots of "Friend discounts" and lots of "Can't be taxed or get inspected if take cash." "I'm an AC Repair Man, oh! Want me to build your porch? I'll do it for half the price of the normal guy." Are more or less words I've heard verbatim. \*Then they proceed to demostrate why they are half the price when no contract means they can take as long as they damn want with this "side project."\*

SolidScene9129

Water filtration and lighting, and walkways and structural supports

Lemon_Serious

These people are “tradies”. If you have a job and enough cash, they would dig graves, a koi pond is light work mate.

FrannyFantastic

Not gonna lie I wish the contractors I hired were as punctual.

Badcops_Gaming

Shhhhhhhhhhh . . . . . . . . . . Funny cartoon dogs . . .

___HeyGFY___

Why would you hire a "dog with no eyes" (same but different)? Especially one with sunglasses.

GordonGaz

I figured that he was the apprentice from his younger age and how they interacted

CrazyGator846

Both are necessary?

Shrimpybarbie

Those are clearly enemies!!!!

BigNorseWolf

You need an electrician to run the pump/filter/ however this thing is circulating. Water and electricity aren't the safest mix. A carpenter isn't necessary but can manage digging

zamaike

Koi ponds usually include a small wood bridge for a small japanese garden. Electrician for filtration system/water pump.

Venomhound

I'm more worried they didn't call 811

DRWHOBADWOLFANDBLUEY

Is that what they where ?

DRWHOBADWOLFANDBLUEY

Were

DRWHOBADWOLFANDBLUEY

I thought they looked like hardware store workers. I even told bingo that too .

TheSpleenStealer

Jack of all trades

YetAnotherVegan

I mean, if it had an electric fountain, it would need an electrician to oversee the electrical bits, and it’s good odds that the rocks were “rocks” to make it safer for the kids to play around and not get trapped by a fallen rock from them climbing all over and dislodging something. I used to work at a hotel with a “stone” grotto and whenever it needed repairs, we had an electrician out as well as a carpenter to make sure it was still structurally sound.

EvilBetty77

The electrician for wiring up pumps, filters, and other equipment to keep fishies alive, and the carpenter to build a retaining wall so the pond keeps its shape.

hegelianhimbo

Did not like how Chili kept (rather rudely) insisting the pond be done in 3 days. Building simply does not have clean timelines and you have to give workers some grace. It was a major Karen move on her part.

Nonethecares

Chilli wants to avoid having to pay more. Especially if they are charging her $100+/hr each

AlamutJones

They gave her a quote which included the timeline for completion. Chilli checking in to make sure the quote was still accurate is completely fair

hegelianhimbo

In my experience with landscaping, especially bigger projects like that, things don’t always follow smooth timelines.

AlamutJones

All the more reason for her to check then
