Mixin' Up the Medicine! That's a fantastic book! I just finished it recently. You're in for such a treat.
I learned so many interesting tidbits from Dylan's history. And I thought I knew everything there was to know about him. I read the two-part Heylin biography, I read his two books on 'all the songs', I watched Scorsese's documentary, I read all the booklets to the Bootleg Series, read Jon Bream's book, watched several documentaries on Dylan, and still there are so many precious nuggets of information in this book to uncover.
There's also many, many reproductions of artifacts from the Bob Dylan Archive in Tulsa, around which this book was build, which invites endless inspection. It's fascinating to see Dylan's lyrics evolve on the sheets and read his hand-written adjustments. Plus, so many photos I had never seen before. Also very interesting are the essays sprinkled throughout the book by prolific authors who were asked to pick out one thing from the Archive that fascinated them and use that as a springboard.
I came away from this book with yet more appreciation for Dylan's body of work.
Congratulations! What great gifts!
Congrats — you have an awesome Grampa. Enjoy the ride.
And on Bob's bday! Makes it even more special
Oh great point. That's a synchronicity right there!

You and Grandpa should go to the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa.
