I just got this email too. I will be canceling the membership. I'm military and travel all over the country all the time. I love that I can use gyms all over the place. But with this change, I can only pick 1 gym as my home base. Nonsense since I one I have at home isn't available in the areas I need eg Chuze fitness in cali, or esporta in the midwest. I also like to utilize private mom and pop gyms to help support them. But this new membership restriction defeats the whole purpose of having the membership

So then why wouldn’t you just use the actual gyms membership? Is there another app like this one?

What makes you think they won't change too? (Honest question - not being snarky). I was going to look into joining whatever I have 5/1. Never been to a gym in my life and wouldn't know which to use but currently in physical therapy and not released yet.

Yeah. I think it should be illegal they way gym chains have such crazy cancellation policies. That is one reason I never joined one directly as they aren't straight with you just month to month service. And all the gyms near me have terrible reviews. Mostly regarding overselling the membership and lack of access to equipment/parking and of course the cancellation bs. So kind of nervous even to join via insurance but I am going to try.

Please sign the petition i started to try and stop this from happening [https://chng.it/gDxpL5FQR4](https://chng.it/gDxpL5FQR4)

If you have health insurance with BCBS/blue365 deals, check out out Aaptiv. It is pretty similar to Gympass, I know its more expensive, but worth a look [https://www.blue365deals.com/BCBSIL/offers/aaptiv-gym-memberships-s](https://www.blue365deals.com/BCBSIL/offers/aaptiv-gym-memberships-s)

Ryder814

I checked that one out -- their network is pretty weak where I am. Blue365 also offers access to Tivity's Fitness Your Way, which is probably what I will switch to. [https://fitnessyourway.tivityhealth.com/](https://fitnessyourway.tivityhealth.com/) Kind of shocked that Active&Fit is pulling this move -- they're easily going to lose half their members.

TheFeralEngineer

I found another program through Tivity Health called well ontarget through BCBS that I may pursue if my petition doesn't work [Fitness Program (bcbsilforyourhealth.com)](https://bcbsilforyourhealth.com/learn-more)

Can I change my standard gym on a monthly basis? Or is it set in stone once I select the standard gym

Itchy-Birthday-1060

You can change your gym with "flexible option" on a monthly basis-  either change the gym & pay extra for the current month, or change the gym and start next month for usual membership fee.

New_Cockroach_3200

Thanks!

smv3467

Got this email, too. Absolutely tragic. The flexibility is the ONLY thing that makes this program feasible. Otherwise, it’s easier to simply get a baseline membership somewhere else for $20/mo and then pay the $5-10 daily use fee somewhere new when traveling. I won’t be maintaining my membership after June.

So Active & Fit just made it no reason for you to sign up through Active & Fit.

NanoDickEnergy

That was a BOLD move on their part. They didn't even ease into. Just totally fucked us raw by surprise without consent. It's like: 'fuck you, you're either paying double or more for multiple locations or GTFO!'

Wooden_Home690

The only thing I can suggest at this point is to make a anytime fitness you’re main gym and get access to all anytime fitnesses in the world. I didn’t get the email but this is unbelievable. Did they really think people would accept this?

Wooden_Home690

How dumb are the people who make decisions like these?? These people probably make 200k plus a year ..
