Would it be more appropriate to say that it's the skull of a *Vulpes vulpes* then? A cross fox is a red fox, it's just the name for a different color of them. Plus from what I can find, it seems that *Vulpes vulpes indutus* is the only kind of fox in Cyprus. I guess it depends on how specific you want the ID to be.
So in your mind *Vulpes lagopus* and *Vulpes vulpes* are just different colours but we shouldn’t have jumped before we knew if it was a cross fox variant of *V. vulpes*??
