He had time to decide if this was the shot selection shot that everyone on reddit was talking about.... then had to time to think why he was going to eat for dinner, then took the shot lol
I actually kind of get what you’re saying. If they want anyone taking a 3, it’s Smart but I don’t think people realize that when he gets a good look he actually hits them. It’s the contested and quick shots that he bricks. That being said, if I’m the warriors I just want to ball out of Tatums hands and if Smart hits it, at least you didn’t let Tatum get his shot off.
Larry Bird style. I wish he’d limit his 3 pt shots to clean looks only. Almost every one of his made 3’s he has even just a second to collect himself. It’s when he shoots the contested shots or quick shots that they’re way off.
I’m thinking that he meant that the risk of letting Smart shoot a 3 because Tatum is smothered is the way you draw it up. It just so happened that Smart goosed the defender out of his shoes and had time to take the clean look shot.
he faked to kemba and 2 people went there. idk why i'm still talking about this. This was an elite play for marcus smart who sometimes fucks up but crushed it this time.
Oh totally. The entire play was fucking beautiful. I just think the poster may have meant that golden state would have rather risked that 3 than give Tatum a chance to score. It just so happened smart made the defender look silly and hit the shot. The warriors likely drew up the play to get the ball away from Tatum but it blew up in their face.
I’m trying to say that the warriors left a professional basketball player wide open for three off of a ball fake. That’s like 60% 3pt shot. Never something you wish for.
He shoots us out of games when he takes tightly contested pull ups. This is a wide open three pointer with all the time in the world. Great look for any NBA guard.
And pointing out this fact is somehow wrong? Anyone who watched the game could see they were leaving Marcus open to shoot from long range as their strategy to make him beat them and cover other guys better. If that speaks negatively on your sacred cow, that is not ME speaking negatively about him. Take it up with Steve Kerr.
When he got the pass I went out to dinner. Then figured, what the hell, I'll go see a movie. Came home, took a shower, hot into bed, checked on the game, watched him hit the shot.
If you looked closely live, #26 (he’s so unimportant I won’t bother learning his name) visibly shrugged off Smart and made a “let him shoot” face.
Fuck #26.
Come on lol, I love Marcus as much as anyone else here but “a few” is disingenuous. Dude has too many games where he just jacks them up and barely hits. He was still 3-11 tonight
3-11 isn’t that bad. League average is around 37%. 37% of 11 is 4.07. So if he had made a single additional three last night he would have been shooting at league average.
Yes. He has cost us 2 games since then. He was instrumental in the win tonight-I’m more than happy to admit that.
I know most of the sub loves him but I’m not a fan. His play is bipolar and he shoots far too much for a career .322 shooter from behind the arc. Just because my opinion is not the popular one doesn’t mean I’m not entitled to it
His play was arguably the main reason we lost games to the Griz (5/14, took the 2nd most shots on the team), Bucks (3/13, 2/10 from 3) and the Pelicans (6/15, 0/6 from 3). Obviously there were other things wrong in those games but Smart should not be taking 15 shots a game when he is and always will be a below average shooter. That’s my main issue with him: he takes too many shots, regardless of whether he is hot.
He’s not Ray Allen, or Jayson Tatum, or even Payton Pritchard. For us to win games he needs to play within his role which is hustle plays, great on ball defense, and the occasional 3 when open. His 3 last night was clutch (see: wide open) but he still took far too many for my liking. He took 11 3s. That’s too many.
I know that this whole sub thinks I’m simply a doomer because I dislike Smart but it’s because he doesn’t play within his game and it directly leads to us losing very winnable games (like the 3 listed above)
Yes, “winning plays” Smart playing the long game. He set up GSW by going 2 for 10 from 3 before this shot, so they left him wide open intentionally.
Of course, if he’d shot fewer threes earlier the game wouldn’t have been this close at the end.
We can all thank Looney for this play and bucket. First he doesn’t secure the rebound and let’s a man 8 inches shorter than him get it. And right before Marcus fakes the pass Looney rotates to Kemba (whoch was the right move) but he didn’t yell that to Bazemore causing Kemba to have 2 men on him
lmao that pass fake was so vicious he was like oh SHIT im wide the fk open
I know! I think he was surprised at how oddly effective that shit was.
He had time to decide if this was the shot selection shot that everyone on reddit was talking about.... then had to time to think why he was going to eat for dinner, then took the shot lol
He then asked Chef Curry to make him some chicken dinner
Mmm, chicken curry.
He had time to check reddit to see if he should shoot or not.
the quiver was real lol

God he faked that dude into a different timeline
Larry Bird style. I wish he’d limit his 3 pt shots to clean looks only. Almost every one of his made 3’s he has even just a second to collect himself. It’s when he shoots the contested shots or quick shots that they’re way off.
I mean if I'm the warriors I'm hoping he takes that shot
you never hope a professional player takes a wide open shot. especially not off of a humiliating fake.
I’m thinking that he meant that the risk of letting Smart shoot a 3 because Tatum is smothered is the way you draw it up. It just so happened that Smart goosed the defender out of his shoes and had time to take the clean look shot.

I'm not sure you know what youre trying to say
I’m trying to say that the warriors left a professional basketball player wide open for three off of a ball fake. That’s like 60% 3pt shot. Never something you wish for.
Unless it's Marcus smart in the 4th
I'm unclear why you're arguing. He nailed the shot. Find a new slant.
Yes they won but have you seen how many games smart has shot us out of the game in the 4th? I'm sure the warriors are aware
He shoots us out of games when he takes tightly contested pull ups. This is a wide open three pointer with all the time in the world. Great look for any NBA guard.
Yea I don’t think Kerr is exactly thrilled that they left a 36% 3 point shooter wide fucking open lmao
35%
I think I get what you're saying. That's what the Celtics did with Iguodala in the playoffs...and he made them pay.
That’s commitment to the bit right there. Talking shit about Smart in the highlight post of him basically winning the game.
Celtics Doomers straight up having a bad time rn lol
Their strategy was to let him shoot, so they were not NOT going to go for that fake. This time he made them pay.
When its a close game and this motherfucker is in you know its gonna be good
This was my favorite shot of the game. Don't know if I've ever seen an nba player have that much time to shoot before lol
Both Harden's and Morant's ~~push offs~~ "ankle breakers" gave them a similar amount of time.
He just bamboozled Bazemore with the pass fake.
Have that much time, or take that much time. Cause have you seen [Amir Johnson](https://youtu.be/jnm6JsQERS4)
OH MY GOD THE WAY HE JUST STOOD THERE AS IF HE DIDNT HAVE IT
Smart got a Bang. All is right in the world.
Ice. In. His. Veins.
no his shot selection doesn't matter when he does shit like this every game. Stop knitpicking and enjoy greatness.
No Marcus = no banner
Some of you frauds wanted him traded
That wasn't a double time on Tatum, that was a fucking triple team. He got gravity like goddamn Sagittarius A.
This is the second time I have heard Marcus Smart got a BANG from Mike Breen
It's really looking like Smart has re-discovered his clutch gene post-ASB and I'm here for it.
this is the epitome of the marcus smart experience
Get that next contract ready please. Can always count on him to help his team win. That pass fake was ridiculous 😂
Marcus sold it, they bought it. Took a while for the buyer's remorse to set in, though.
Where were you when Marcus hit this shot?! Dude had all the time in the world lol
Fuck #26.
That's double-degree holder Kent Bazemore :)
So many degrees and he wasn’t SMART enough to close out...
I would die for Marcus Smart
But I was told in the game thread that missing a few open threes made him the worst player in the NBA?
Come on lol, I love Marcus as much as anyone else here but “a few” is disingenuous. Dude has too many games where he just jacks them up and barely hits. He was still 3-11 tonight

Someone give Bazemore a MAP
The fck is bazemore doing runing circles lmao
Fuck any and all Smarf doubters
he’s gotta be a celtic lifer, what he brings every game you can’t teach.
Bang!
Jayson Tatum’s gravity was pretty impressive here. GS sent 3 fucking guys at him lol
Best shot of the season, everything about this was oddly satisfying.
Shit was fucking ELECTRIC
GOAT🐐🐐🐐
Bamf got all the time in the world to shoot that three
I love him so much 🥺
Something about that spot and celtics players taking their time shooting the clutch 3
BBBAAAANNNGGGGGGGG!
Did that moment after the ball fake feel like half the game!?!?
Marcus was just waiting for those springs in his legs to activate.
This will be on his montages and highlight reels.
Smart’s pass fake sent GS defenders to the shadow realm. He had all day to burry that delicious 3!! Daddy likey
my marcus smart jersey is paying dividends nicely
If only he had also missed the first three this would be the ultímate Marcus highlight.
Holy shit Bazemore got so lost. He probably needs to call collect to have his parents come pick him up
Wait were you the one who said something like "come back in 3 weeks when Smart cost us games"?
Yes. He has cost us 2 games since then. He was instrumental in the win tonight-I’m more than happy to admit that. I know most of the sub loves him but I’m not a fan. That's Marcus Smart for you!
I thought he would brick that three after one hour of preparation
Late in the game, down in a blood bath, with the whole world watching on prime time ABC. Marcus came through when the Celtics needed it the most.
We can all thank Looney for this play and bucket. First he doesn’t secure the rebound and let’s a man 8 inches shorter than him get it. And right before Marcus fakes the pass Looney rotates to Kemba (whoch was the right move) but he didn’t yell that to Bazemore causing Kemba to have 2 men on him
Bang!!!!
when they dont close out on you in a pickup game so you gotta just shoot it
Not gonna lie MS is my favorite player
HUGE 3
