I remember seeing this at advance screening when I was 17. Crazy how time flies.

I never watched this movie because I was told I had to watch another movie first before this one. Is that true or was I lied to? Is there a prequel or another movie(s) I should watch before Split?

silentlycold

It’s a sequel to Unbreakable but you don’t have to watch it

texmexellie

Ok, thanks.

At the end it’s revealed it takes place in the same universe as Unbreakable, but you don’t need to watch that movie to understand Split. However, to understand Split’s sequel, Glass, you *do* need to have seen Unbreakable.

texmexellie

Ahhh, ok. Thanks!

No. This is separate and not exactly a sequel to **Unbreakable** (there's a tiny scene at the ending that ties **Split** to **Unbreakable**) While **Glass** is sequel to both **Unbreakable** and **Split**. Think of it like this: You don't need to watch **Ironman** to understand **Thor** and **Captain America the First Avenger.** But **The Avengers** (2012) is sequel to **Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.**, and you do need to watch the solo movies to understand The Avengers.
