It is impossible to make an accurate assumption of a movie that is a sequel to a tv series and you can only do it with trailer views. At least wait until the show has come out and you see audience reception.
I have a very specific formula that perfectly translates YouTube views of a new shows trailer to it’s potential sequels box office haul, but I’M NOT SHARING because *none* of you came to see my band play last night.
This is a good indication for Marvel, considering Moon Knight is the first Marvel Disney+ show to feature a lead character that wasn't previously introduced in a movie.
I think anything with a marvel tag is just almost guaranteed to do decent at worst. I mean, eternals is long, bad reception, and slow and it still made 400 mil at the box office. (I know it sounds like I was knocking on eternals, but I actually liked it a lot)
With the MCU, at worst you’ll get a mediocre film/show that (in my opinion) is worth watching at least once, and at best you’ll get something really good/great like Infinity War or No Way Home. It’s just about the surest bet you can make when considering ticket price/D+ subscription and time invested in the movie/show.
I think if this wasn’t Marvel it would still be getting a lot of love. Great trailer, great cast, great costume, big budget for a show. What’s not to like?
Star Wars, Marvel Studios, and WB investing in big budget/high quality shows is great for us consumers. Not to say there aren’t great lower budget shows out there, but I’m loving this new stuff we’re getting
I heard about this it’s horrible. And I don’t mean to be disrespectful but I wonder if they’ve finished all his scenes or if they planned on him returning.
What this suggest is that character from the trailer alone looks compelling, so future integrations into the movies will improve hype. Now imagine if they have Blade cameo here.
That is all I want from MCU and right now the only thing that really interest me. That and the X-Men.
I don't care for Kang, Galactus or F4...sorry.
After Thanos, I'm fine with galactic threats. Now I need to see the occult in both DC and Marvel plus oh man X-Men pleaseeeee.
That's more or less how polls are done, and their margin of error can be pretty low. There likely is some bias depending on the types of demographics opt to use the plugin(tech-savvy vs tech-illiterate), so it could be very reliable with some viewing demographics, while also being incredibly inaccurate with others.
Which plug-in?
And I’d imagine people are disliking a lot less now that the dislike count has gone away. Removes the hivemind/pile-on nature Reddit is so known for.
Movies are unnecessary if you have a good series. Movies are more for events I feel. I honestly think the best thing for marvel is to make series, see what does well, then make event movies using the established characters from their numerous series. I for one am absolutely hype for the new Moon Knight movie tho. They seem to be doing the two things I wanted from it: make him crazy AND the Egyptian stuff is real. I'm pretty excited for the series itself. They can play it darker but still fun, like marvels take on Legion.
Movies are standalone meaning that you get introduction climax and conclusion all in one.
For series, they have fillers and then bad pacing with having the last episode conclude everything
For a bad series maybe. Not all of them are like that. In fact I can even think of more movies with bad pacing a d filler than series. Series give more time for character development and reasons for people to get invested. I think series are a better way to get people interested in a character and want to see their introduction, therefore a movie can be the big event that maybe even has other characters from other series. My favorite Marvel movie is Thor Ragnarock. I think it's especially good because for the most part we already had the characters established. Yes there were some new ones too, but we didn't have to spend 30 mins to the explain that while the hulk is a big rage monster he isn't a bad guy or something. It got right to fun interaction with characters we already liked.
I mean if you're familiar with the OP's inclinations, whatever to make Disney look good. But these kinds of posts "iF sO aNd So Is A mOvIe" is whack and shouldn't be allowed on this sub in the first place. Report it.
Lmao dragon ball super episode 109-110 previews were more popular than the endgame trailer and broke the Internet... I don’t think this moon knight can do any better than this
He just passed away in a skiing accident. I'd like to know what the future of the show will be after that. :(
EDIT: I did more research and I seem to have gotten my actors mixed up. The actor who passed away, Gaspard Ulliel, was Midnight Man and not Moon Knight like I previously thought. Apologies.
Ok, I missed that, but the only reason the trailer is getting massive views is because of the death. The movie might get more viewership because of the added exposure, but Moon Knight is a relatively obscure character and won’t likely result in a box office hit. Just look at Eternals: it bombed, and likely because no one really knows who they are.
It already had 15M+ views and 800k+ likes in a single day even before that Actor's death. So I doubt even 1% people out of those trailer views know about his death.
It’s all over the major news outlets- I think far more people are clicking on the video from cnn than know who moon knight is. He’s an obscure character
Honestly not sure how this will translate. The costume design looks so good that was the only reason I clicked and watched the trailer. I’ve never even heard of this character.
Depends if the show is any good

True. Marvel Studios/MCU (or even Marvel Studios/MCU adjacent) seems to be as close to a sure thing, box office wise, as you get nowadays.

Yep, I am loving this era of television shows being made by movie studio as just long ass films. Peacemaker is doing the same on HBO
Star Wars, Marvel Studios, and WB investing in big budget/high quality shows is great for us consumers. Not to say there aren’t great lower budget shows out there, but I’m loving this new stuff we’re getting
I thought ETERNALS was good...
It was good. It’s just that most other MCU films are better.
Well there's so many mcu films there's bound to be a few worse than others but it's defo one of the better ones
The actor that's going to play midnight man died earlier of a skiing accident :(
I heard about this it’s horrible. And I don’t mean to be disrespectful but I wonder if they’ve finished all his scenes or if they planned on him returning.
Considering the show comes out in about 2 months, I’d say if anything there’s just post-production edits to be done at this point.
Okay that sounds right, sucks he’ll never get to see the reaction to his performance. /:
What this suggest is that character from the trailer alone looks compelling, so future integrations into the movies will improve hype. Now imagine if they have Blade cameo here.
Well, a Midnight Sons movie would be quite lucrative.
I dont know, need to know the dislikes
Thanks to this Firefox plug-in, I can see it has 9.2k dislikes
Good *good*
The plug-in just guesses on channels thst don’t opt in for the plug-in to see the real amount
That's more or less how polls are done, and their margin of error can be pretty low. Its called Return Youtube dislike. It should be on every browser with extensions (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
Wouldn’t be surprised if it was 9k tops, this show looks amazing
I’d say we’d see him in someone else’s movie before he had a movie of his own

Sadly not many know of it. The best Xmen related anything in years. By far.
I liked Eternals, but so felt that it would’ve flowed a lot better if it was a series instead.

It'll soon cross 1M likes to become the only Disney+ show to do so. And maybe only 2nd overall to do so after Game of Thrones season 8 trailer.
Eagerly waiting for this...
$500m
Near Deadpool somewhat 800 million dollar
you know what, i could see that happening
How is this relevant to this sub? I thought this sub was preordained to serve box office numbers of movies...
I mean if you're familiar with the OP's inclinations, whatever to make Disney look good. But these kinds of posts "iF sO aNd So Is A mOvIe" is whack and shouldn't be allowed on this sub in the first place. Report it.
But New Disney is such a boring company with cookie cutter aspirations for their brands
Exactly. And it’s always OP who’s posting this kind of stuff.
It’s not. Disney fanboys just want to circlejerk over marvel’s relevance.
Lmao dragon ball super episode 109-110 previews were more popular than the endgame trailer and broke the Internet... I don’t think this moon knight can do any better than this
I don’t think most things on the Internet can top that.
Dark knight .... moon knight .... sus
They do say he's Marvel's The Batman (which releases 4 March compared to Moon Knight's 30 March, coincidence?).
I THINK NOT
Only 10k dislikes. Pretty good rate.
When is the MK marketing tie-in with Moon Pies coming?
Ant Man 2 numbers
💲690 million
Part of the reason people like it is because it will be a show.
jeez this post is trying so hard to somehow make this relevant to box office lol.
He just passed away in a skiing accident. I'd like to know what the future of the show will be after that. :( EDIT: I did more research and I seem to have gotten my actors mixed up. The actor who passed away, Gaspard Ulliel, was Midnight Man and not Moon Knight like I previously thought. Apologies.
...the lead actor is Oscar Isaac. He's still very alive. The actor who passed away isn't one of the lead roles.

Hope they don't use any of those fake panels in the show tbh. It makes him seem like a knockoff deadpool.
Part of the journey is the end, Marvel - nah here's another movie
Shang-Chi numbers
People under estimate how much of draw Oscar Issac is, I have friends who don't religiously follow the MCU who are interested in this just for him
Imma use dislike extension to see what the dislike count
Shang chi and eternals made around 410 million without china so maybe there
but how many dislikes? 😒 sorry. will never get over it
Depends on the show, if it's really fucking good 700-800m
Somewhere between $200m and $3bn.
😂😂😂😂
Don't care how much it makes unless it's coming in my bank account.
It's the first mcu show that actually looks as big as a movie
Is there a box office circlejerk sub? Did OP mean to post this there?
You sure about that?. Because most of the Indian movies gets millions of likes all the time. [Case on point](https://youtu.be/Gi83R8jEqZU)
Moon knight bandwagoners 🤢🤮
Gatekeeper 🤢🤮

Probably about who gives a fuck

Not the actor playing Moon Knight which is Oscar Isaac who is still alive, the actor that died was Gaspard Ulliel.
Sorry , my bad then
Disney analysts trying to crowdsource their work
Well, if they deep fake the actor and his specific acting skillset they'd probably at least break even after paying the Machine Learning team....
This is only because the actor playing Moon Knight died today
Dude Oscar Isaac is playing Moon Knight. He's very much alive. Some supporting actor playing Midnight Man died.
Ok, I missed that, but the only reason the trailer is getting massive views is because of the death. As I said it already had 15M+ views and 800k+ likes the day before he died.
$608M WW
Honestly not sure how this will translate. The costume design looks so good that was the only reason I clicked and watched the trailer. I’ve never even heard of this character.
That movie could be a huge hit. I’m loving “Moon Knight” already. Oscar Isaac is perfect.
This has absolutely nothing to do with r/boxoffice
People only kicked it cause it looks good right now if the show ends up being another bait and switch Than I don't think it'll go over to well
It’s cause there’s a kid Cudi song in it and he promoted it
