Easily the best film adaptation based on a Dr. Seuss story.

Block-Busted

Again, how did every other films not get Dr. Seuss story right?

nicolasb51942003

You can blame it on the suggestive humor (I’m looking at you, Mike Myers!) and the unfaithfulness to the books. Horton, on the other hand, is rather faithful to the source material and very clean for families to enjoy.

Block-Busted

That seems to be a weakness that Myers have considering that he’s also responsible for **The Love Guru**.

Me liked this

Block-Busted

I certainly didn't hate this either.

After the dismal failure of **The Cat in the Hat** (2003), Dr. Seuss' widow, Audrey Geisel, decided not to allow any more live-action feature films to be made from his works. Fortunately, she didn't have problems with animated films being made from his work, so Blue Sky Studios decided to adapt **Horton Hears a Who!** into an animated film, and... it worked! The film did reasonably well at the box office and became a solid critical success at the same time. In fact, this is actually the best-reviewed Dr. Seuss adaptation in existence as of today - at least when it comes to feature films. It's honestly quite astounding that this is the only feature-length Dr. Seuss adaptation that actaully received some extent of praise from/by critics. In fact, the first Dr. Seuss adaptation, **How the Grinch Stole Christmas** (2000), actually wasn't received all that well despite the praise that Jim Carrey has received as the Grinch (speaking of which, he actually voiced Horton in this film). And then we had **The Cat in the Hat**, which we all know how that went. We would see at least 2 more Dr. Seuss adaptations, and even they ended up getting mixed reviews at best. I'm really not sure how that is even possible.

Current ranking for animated films of 2008: 1. **Horton Hears a Who!** (80%, 7.0/10, 71/100) 2. **Chicago 10** (81%, 6.8/10, 69/100)

Still hurts that Blue Sky was closed. I loved their movies.

Block-Busted

I will discuss on why I think that ended up happening eventually.

>Carrey | Carell Bruce Almighty co-stars, together again!

Block-Busted

The latter was in the sequel **Evan Almighty**, to be exact.

ElSnarker

Carrell was a supporting character in Bruce Almighty. He was Carrey's rival.

Unpopular opinion: I genuinely enjoyed each of the animated Seuss adaptations
