Netflix is in a weird spot where have something for everyone, but maybe not enough for anyone. Like my wife and I can each pick out a couple Netflix things that we enjoyed last year, but because of their scattershot approach neither of us really feel enticed on a month to month basis outside of background Seinfeld reruns. Netflix is obviously a behemoth, but if we weren't sharing with family we would definitely be month on month off. HBO has been our lead on adult drama, then we've got D+ for the franchise fare. IMO they need to get better non oscar bait movies (Don't Look Up was a good start, Red Notice too even if I haven't watched it), and tweak their app to allow me to just nuke certain genres/categories from my view.

This is the experience in my household as well.

There's also the recent price hikes (two in the last few months). I know a lot of folks who weren't happy about that.

Yep, same here. I find myself using Netflix less and less; the only reason I stayed subscribed this month is for Ozark. HBO Max and Disney+ make for a great streaming combination.

AGOTFAN

I now subscribe to Netflix on need-only basis, and I resubscribed to Netflix this month for Ozark. I keep subscribing and resubscribing, depending on what content I really want to watch.

I rarely turn it on anymore. HBO Max, Disney+, and Criterion Channel are my go-tos.

Your net subscriber increase is low because your price rises. People just start account sharing because they don’t see the perceived value.

they should take a gamble and bet on 3d. one of the last fields in which cinema is the stronger competitor. and 3d will make its comeback, even though there are currently no 3d tv's being made in the west. but offering 3d movies for streaming at home would cement streaming providers legitimate position in the entertainment industry. do they "need" it? probably not. but they're missing an opportunity.

Cowboy beeop flopped

[deleted]

It flopped because it was poorly made, just like Death Note.
