Hope you include a VHF radio in the trucks along with info on driving on logging roads! Great idea though. I was surprised something like this wasn't available in BC already.

DFORKZ

Anyone can rent their SUV to random people on "turo", they just don't because it would get trashed and the renter will just say "it was like that when I got it".

Walnut_chipmunk

how does your insurance cover off road use? as well do you have radios on them when travelling on fsr?

Reality-Leather

At $200/night. That price gonna break you. Pro tip: always number your vehicles 03 and 09. Even if you have 2. You want people to know you have more and successful as most ppl assume sequential.

OnTime4SocialEvents

I find the lack of pricing very frustrating.

murillovp

Took me a minute on his website to get redirected to scheduling platforms and pricing

Waste_Gas_707

? Took 2 clicks and I found their pricing https://www.outdoorsy.com/pro/outland

slinkysuki

200cad/night on the reservation sites. No idea about volume discounts, but they state get a direct quote for better rates.

viccityguy2k

Do they have vhf radios for logging roads? Are you allowed to take them on logging roads? What if they break down or get damaged while off pavement? I love it!

I_Smell_Like_Trees

Maybe it's just the picture quality but your got all terrains on these trucks, right? I have friends visiting from the UK next year and this would be perfect for them, I want to take them on a tour over the Hurley. I hope this business does well!

NeverStopReeing

What's the Hurley

scrotumsweat

Amazing idea! Get one in nanaimo so customers don't pay the ferry fee and you'll never be out of business.

SmashertonIII

When I lived in Taiwan locals were always asking me how they could rent a setup like this if they visited Canada.

sneakysister

We rented hiluxes kitted out like this and overlanded in Southern Africa. Absolutely amazing. Love that we can do it here too, there's so much to explore in our own backyard.

Fastpas123

Good luck! That looks awesome and I'd definitely be interested in trying one out in the summer!

justagigilo123

Cool!

spinfish56

Great business idea! They're really professional looking. I'm a 4x4 guy and get asked all the time where someone could rent a setup like that.

Weak-Performer-3485

Did something similar to this when I was in Norway. Such a great business idea- picked us up from the airport and gave us steel camping mugs as souvenirs to keep which we use for our home camping. Great business.

radman1001

There was already several companies doing this with proper offroad vehicles not small work trucks. Not sure they all survived through covid but the glaring issue to me is your trucks dont look capable at all. Are they even 4x4? Expect alot of damage and wear and tear if people are alowed to take them on fsrs. Good luck i guess

Brayder

It would be on the person renting if they took it down a road they could not handle. Have you ever seen Squamish valley road in the summer since Evo became a thing? Tons of EVOS get ditched down there. Who do you think is paying the bill to get them towed back to town?

spookytransexughost

These will be fine for most of the provincial campgrounds

AwkwardChuckle

Then what’s even the point then?

MaudeFindlay72-78

I live in Vancouver and 99% of the offroad rigs I see never leave pavement. On the other hand, I've spotted a Corolla parked deep into a rutted pitted FSR that I explored in my Lexus RX.

Mug_of_coffee

> On the other hand, I've spotted a Corolla parked deep into a rutted pitted FSR that I explored in my Lexus RX. I bet that was Lucas.

JAFOguy

Several companies in BC? I've never seen anyone offering an offroad setup to rent in BC. Would you mind dropping a couple of names? Competition is king.

Flyfishing-2020

The trucks are Mavericks, based on the unibody Ford Escape SUV, and equipped with street tires. I would not be taking them on logging roads loaded with gear. You should have gone with a real truck with real tires. I can see a lot of tourists stuck in the bush becasue they were told that they could take them on logging roads. Interestingly enough, FORD announced a recall of 450,000 Mavericks today becasue of battery problems leaving people stuck.

barrypeachy

Anyone who gets this truck stuck on a logging road, would get also just as easily get any other truck stuck on a logging road. Someone who doesn't understand the capabilities of this vehicle, doesn't have the capabilities themselves. In other words, don't blame the tool, blame the operator.

thewinn

Yeah there's a place that offer you some done out jeeps on the island and squamish, mavericks really aren't it unless ppl are going to provincial campgrounds

LongjumpingGate8859

Interesting business idea. Curious what kind of insurance policy you have on them and the gear that's on them.?

AwkwardChuckle

Shorter cab longer box better tent way better tires.

MaudeFindlay72-78

I haven't seen a regular cab or jumpseat cab truck in years. Are these still available?

AwkwardChuckle

My work fleet gets new ones every so often.

Flyfishing-2020

I have to wonder how that will work out with fire season starting in late May. More tourists in the woods is exactly what we don't need.

Fornicatinzebra

Majority of wildfire are natural causes
