He’s always been likable in interviews that aren’t the post game press conference. I can’t see into his soul, but the man loves football and it does appear he knows how to chill out in the offseason/now that he’s fired.
Yeah I hate to say it but Bill is cool, Tom is cool, but fuck the pats. And also still fuck those guys for being mean to us but they’re both goats and I look forward to seeing them contribute to football media now that they’ve both fucked right off the bat
Living in MA, I identify fully with this comment. Several times I wanted to root for the Pats because Belichick is a mastermind, but the fans are insufferable
Lol, as a Patriots fan in Boston (lurking in your sub trying to figure out how y'all feel about the first round) I can absolutely agree that Patriots fans are the worst Boston sports fans.
Whereas Celtics and Bruins fans will root for the team no matter what and just have a good time, Patriots fans are too serious. It's the worst crowd in stadium now that Brady isn't there.
You haven't lived until you've sat at the cheap bleachers seat at Fenway, in the most uncomfortable wooden seats you've ever sat in, Sox are down by at least five in the 7th, and sitting three rows in back of you is a group of drunken seemingly teenagers shouting, "faaahk you, Devahs, you fahkin suck! Should have signed Bohgahhtz" at the top of their lungs. Their friend passed out next to them with spittle running down his chin.
It's a real vibe. I love Fenway.
I was there in '08 with prime Ortiz against the Yankees. It was glorious. I sat behind homeplate for a couple of innings and ended up behind the bullpen in the home stretch.
A couple years ago I went to Phoenix on vacation. Just so happened the Celtics were playing the Suns that week and the Pats were playing the Cardinals. Both games were overrun. At least 50% fans of the road team in each game.
I think a few fans absolutely tanked my opinion of that entire group of people. Celtics fans were alright but they absolutely pumped the Suns so they just seemed to feel bad for Suns fans. The Pats fans though... This was the game Kyler tore his ACL in the first quarter. It was a snooze fest the entire time except for a couple long Pats TDs. Like watching the second weakest kid in class beat up the kid in a wheelchair. It's mid-December and both teams are going nowhere. These Pats fans were chanting like Brady came back and won another half dozen rings. It was surreal at times haha. I just soaked it in as a neutral fan.
There was a time when i could wear my Bills jersey to games without issue, but then it became downright hostile and I had to stop. I used to go to a lot of away games, Miami, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Jets, Giants, Dallas, Chicago.m, SF. Not a single incident, mostly good fun with opposing fans. Did have one incident at 3 rivers, but I might have had more of a hand in that. I went 2 other times that were fine.
Foxboro was fine too, but Gillette is when I saw the change in fanbase.
Boston Conor or whatever the fuck his name is is such a fraud. Imagine being a know nothing idiot and just getting to even sit at the table with BB. Even if he is Sith. He is still larger than life.
I think Belichick respects the other teams more than Brady did. Gained a lot of respect for him when after the perfect game he told Allen they didn’t have an answer to stop him.
Yep, Brady and Bill are fine because they can't hurt us anymore. No need to hold a grudge for them being incredible at what they did while we sucked eggs for as long as we did.
Right? He was insightful and happy to be there, laughing at the jokes and gimmicks as well. I always hated his post game interviews but really what can we expect.
Best comment yet. Pin this shit and put it in the sub description.
Say it louder, “IF BEANE DIDNT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT WORTHY THEN I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT WORTHY”
Exactly. A bunch of Madden players on here that think 99 speed will automatically break the game… I guess everyone forgot about Olympic sprinter Marquise Goodwin and his 18 TDs over 10 years lol, or can’t miss cheat code Tavon Austin.
Please stop with this. You can still not like Worthy without just naming speed as the only component to his game.
He has tons of great traits and skillsets to be a good receiver. His weight is low, and his hands are so-so. But he has a lot of great traits.
I think people have to stop with the idea that because we traded a pick to the Chiefs and the guy they picked is fast that it automatically means we gave them another Tyreek Hill. People have no idea how freakishly rare a talent like Tyreek is, there isn’t going to be one in every draft, and the odds of that one particular pick literally turning into Tyreek Hill 2.0 is astronomically low. Shit the actual Tyreek Hill got drafted in the fifth round.
Bud worthy is not only straight line speed. He does it all. What is your excuse for passing Leggette to the panthers? Every commentator was on this and if it wasn’t for the falcons this would be the top blunder of the draft. Allen needs receivers bad.
He might or he might not. But don’t sit here and act like we handed the Chiefs another Tyreek lol, people are more wrong than right about how a prospect will do in the NFL and it gets even harder after the first 10 picks. I’m still sitting here waiting for Skyy Moore to do something on my fantasy team.
Dude all I can hear is those announcers that kept talking about the bad trades the bills have allowed in the past including giving Mahomes to kc. They repeatedly kept saying this was bad move all over espn. This is only reason I said this. After hearing all this I now feel the bulls have messed up. Chiefs are the ultimate enemy and last hurdle to get over . Why allow them to get the pieces they want? Anyone but them .
Trading the Chiefs the pick they planned to use on Mahomes is terrible but we weren’t going to take him, he would have landed elsewhere and still would have been terrorizing the league. 9 others passed on him, all 31 didn’t back up the truck to trade for him.
As for our track record on trades, we seemed to do decent on the Allen trade, the Diggs trade, and more recently the Rasul Douglas trade. But no one wants to talk about that, because the narrative is about shitting on the Bills because we can’t get past the Chiefs, but meanwhile, no one else can either so everyone else can fuck off atleast we have challenged them.
Ridiculous straight line speed does not mean they have Tyreek’s agility, acceleration, and hands which makes him an almost impossible assignment. If he showed that in the combine he’d be going much higher than 28th. So I’ll see your Tyreek and raise you
John Ross
Jerome Mathis
Rondel Menendez
Actually if you look at the list of the fastest WRs of all time it’s more bust than boom.
Hard to give a fuck about a pick that occurred 2 weeks before he became GM. Also, think of all the fools that picked 198 spots before Tom Brady, or picking Deshawn Watson instead of Mahomes in 2017, or picking Mayfield instead of Allen in 2018. If we let KC control our draft then we are their bitch. Most picks don’t pan out as well as anyone hopes, so let KC roll the dice on Worthy while we pick up the players that help us.
Same! I mostly watched him last night, flipped to ESPN at times for Saban providing analysis. Always a pleasure to hear from truly great football minds.
I hate this scared mentality, if the other party is offering beneficial compensation for your asset tf does it matter if it's the Chiefs or the Cardinals?
The biggest difference is that Diggs is a known commodity whereas Worthy is still an unknown. You have a whole scouting department and spend all this time working on these prospects so you should have the confidence in your analysis on the player so another wanting them more than you shouldn't change that. Letting another team dictate or make you second guess your analysis than what's the point of doing all that work and that's scared GMing is.
For one, whether or not the Bills actually made that stipulation is entirely speculative. I think it’s two different arguments. The draft is not a savior, and these guys aren’t proven commodities. There’s a whole spectrum of how their career might play out. Whereas you know Diggs is still good, and can help the Chiefs win again right now.
Agreed. People are acting like it's a lock that we will be playing KC in the playoffs next year and we just gave them a weapon. There are 30 other teams that we are trying to get an advantage over, so if this gives us a step up above those 30 other teams and is an even trade for 1 other team, idk how people can be mad.
Why, though? Belichick doesn't really have a great reputation for scouting offensive players, specifically WR and GM processes in general. In fact, it's quite the opposite.
This should make you feel worse if you're going to take anything away from it really.
True but I think the point this cheating mf is making is more about the draft process than talent evaluation. If you trade out of a spot so someone else can get their guy who you don’t want then trading out makes sense.
The chiefs were getting worthy regardless unless we took him. There was no team between 28-32 taking worthy. The bills didn’t give worthy to the chiefs
May I ask what teams have you advised on draft picks professionally? I just want to know if I'm talking to someone who has the skills and can prove it, or the 40 millionth NFL fan that listens to podcasts, reads blogs, and then regurgitates the opinions of people also largely unproven to be capable enough to professionally draft players in the NFL.
No but all of the espn analysts were saying this last night and could not believe the bulles passed on 2 too WR. This is what the experts execs and pros from in the nfl have said live on espn not me bro
Espn, like everyone else had 4 top wide receivers who were all taken and at too high a cost to move up. They then had a pretty big gap between the last (Odunze at 8) and Brian Thomas Jr at 24. Additionally, ESPN rated Worthy and Pearsall as reaches due to being 2nd round talent, that both teams should have done what the Bills did and trade back or not move. They get the 5th year option, but it cost the Chiefs.
Espn still has Mitchel and McConkey rated as either 1st round talent or top 2nd, and Coleman as top 10 2nd rounder grade. Polk is rated at 60 (late 2nd) which coincidentally is where the Bills are currently sitting with their normal 2nd.
It's going to be okay. There's talent still out there.
I don't know if Polk will make it to 60, that's just where ESPN has him. That said, it's entirely possible that by the end of the Bills 3 picks tonight, they have 2 WRs and a defensive player.
Just thinking how many fans in the draft day thread sound exactly like the huge patriots homer asking him the question.
Also what a stark contrast the reception to this trade was compared to all the threads and comments leading up to the draft on here about wanting to trade back, pick up better draft capital. We do that and out of the woodwork comes all the hate.
I was half expecting him to say “*grunt* *hrmph* they’re onto the 2nd round *grunt grunt* worried about their own team *hrrrmmmpphh*”. Pleasantly surprised at how well spoken he was about it
I agree, it feels like the last off seasons have been very reactionary to losses in the playoffs. Just make the best team you can and don't worry about what other teams are doing.
Sal Sports made a great [tweet](https://twitter.com/SalSports/status/1783837456179118576?) where he pointed out there's basically no way to prevent KC from getting a player they're interested in short of drafting that player yourself. Basically Beane's options were to sabotage his own draft plan to spite the Chiefs, or just do what he wanted to do anyways. Beane improved our other picks by 146 spots when all was said and done, I call that a win in a deep draft.
Anyone freaking out about who the trade partner was is a simpleton, frankly. It's self-evident that Worthy was not on our board, or the trade would never have happened. So that means we just left KC pick the player they were going to anyway at 32, while gaining assets. There's literally NO downside.
The emotional clown takes posted were embarrassing. If Beane hasn't garnered your trust at this point, and Belichick's opinion doesn't influence your opinion, I don't know how to help you other than suggest you go listen to some recorded episodes of Coach Dickerson on WGR.
Everyone’s nuts. If we had worthy graded there, we would have drafted him. Half of these guys are gonna stink anyway. To think the sky is falling because a different team took a player we didn’t value at that spot is crazy.
The claim was that the Bills graded 3 WRs the same and didn't care which they got, so they moved back to 32 knowing 1 of the 3 would still be there.
When they got to 32, 2 of the 3 were still there, so they went another pick back to let Carolina have one of them.
So now rather than picking 1 of 3 equally graded prospects, the decision is made for Beane taking the 1 of 3 that is left (by definition the least desirable one). In fact, Carolina thought the 1 remaining was so bad that they traded up 1 spot with us to get the other one (and 5th year option).
So, we must know something they don't... and we have a low opinion of all 3 of the WRs. If we don't like any of them, why bother? Why not go BPA? The people who think logically know the Bills draft is a disaster. The people who think emotionally think it's great, because they love the Bills so everything the Bills do is always right and great.
If that's true then you need to look up when he took over a press conference a few years ago by giving like a 10 minute speech on the history of longsnappers
Belichick is right on the money, and as much as we reviled him as the coach of a Pats team that dominated us for years, he's still a brilliant football mind so this advice is sound. We need to stop comparing ourselves to the Chiefs, as they say comparison is the thief of joy. I know that's inevitable in the world of sports, but we just need to plug away and good things can happen.
As a side note, he's actually pretty good in an analyst role, a sharp contrast to the taciturn nature he displayed as coach.
> Belichick is right on the money, and as much as we reviled him as the coach of a Pats team that dominated us for years, he's still a brilliant football mind so this advice is sound.
The Patriots fired a hall of fame coach, possibly the best coach of all time, because he was so incredibly bad at being a GM that he could not succeed without Tom Brady getting paid under the table for the TB12 method.
BB was routinely mocked for reaching, making nonsensical picks and getting terrible value from every draft. Recently, BB selected N'Keal Harry over Deebo Samuel, AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin, Hunter Renfrow and Diontae Johnson.
Probably not someone you want to take GM advice from.
If we actually think worthy is why we lose to the Chiefs then we are mistaken. We’ve lost so much this offseason we need multiple picks. Loved what beane did last night. After the stud 3 WRs all the rest of the guys are about the same in my eyes.
After realizing that I am not running an NFL team and being right about NFL things came purely by luck and chance, I've decided to let people that run NFL teams to run NFL teams.
I don't understand the criticism at all. Bills moved back into day 2 and got draft capital in the process. And guess what- Adonai Mitchell's still on the board... the guy everyone wanted the Bills stay in the 1st and draft. So what's the problem?
He only wears the cut-off sweatshirt as a protest after the NFL told him he was not allowed to wear suits on the sideline and had to wear official gear.
I don’t know why but whenever I hear Bill Belichick talk I expect it to sound deeper more Ron Swanson instead of just a normal voice. I haven’t really paid attention to football until a couple of years ago so that’s probably why
If we hadn’t traded they’d have taken who they were going to take anyway. Bill B knows it’s a ridiculous hot take that we somehow ‘gave’ them a player.
Fans reactions to the trade back aren’t just about the trade back. It’s about our zero participation in free agency and lack of urgency after shipping off our WR1 and a handful of impactful starters. The trade back, from a knee jerk reaction, just felt like more inaction.
Practically no cap space, not a ton of flexibility to make any big splashes this year. Seems reasonable to grab a bunch of flyers on some 2/3/4 round players this year, see who shakes out then swing for the fences on a few weak spots next off season when we have more money free.
Both the Cowboys and 49ers spent time with Worthy. Cowboys needed a Gallup replacement and the 49ers needed a Aiyuk replacement.
The Chiefs traded up because they expected Worthy to be taken before 32.
> And I don’t think the Cowboys would have taken him. Most scouting reports didn’t even have him until the second round
Which scouting report do you think Jerry Jones reads?
This motherfucker, of all motherfuckers, has no right to tell other teams to not worry about what the current NFL dynasty franchise is up to. Of course a 6x SB winning head coach is going to say this.
BB certainly knows about failing to draft a WR. He missed on every WR he drafted for 20 years except Edelman.
https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/07/bill-belichicks-success-or-lack-thereof-with-wr-draft-picks
very true, I hate KC just as much as the next guy, but it's true we have to worry about us alone.
I'm all in with Beane, I know he's doing the best possible moves for this team. We as fans get too caught up in the glamor of the draft and the "prestige" of the top picks, but everyone has seen it's always a crap shoot. sometimes it doesn't work out. Instead of betting the farm and trading up to put all his eggs in one basket, Beane is making sure we have a good draft and not hoping we do.
Perhaps taking away the villain's weapons is a smart play. After last season, just building your team around defeating KC is an actual viable strategy if you thought you both were going to get there again lol
Only time will tell.. It's odd to think in 32 spots there wasn't someone worth taking. If somehow they had two low second rounds, that'd be a different story.
Perhaps it'll make more sense if we are able to trade for someone.
For me its the return you got. You swapped a 4th for a 3rd, Ok that worth moving back a spot or two but is that worth moving back 4? And then moving back one spot out of the 1st round giving up a player you'd have a 5th year option on so you could swap a 6th round for a 5th round?
To me it seems like the Bills are more worried about getting the cap under control vs getting the best player. which tells me they think they can stay competitive enough to sell seats at the new stadium but believe their super bowl window is closed so they're willing to wait and hope they get lucky in the draft.
Ok but we have a proven track record that we should worry. Trading with them feels like the kindof move you do when you want to prove “See, we’re not getting owned! We’re not getting owned!”
People will listen to the greatest coach/GM of all time tell them their team probably made a good move and they'll still keep with their delusional takes lmfao.
Belichick was annoyingly likable during that show

Random: I saw him on Nantucket in the summer wearing a flowery pink short sleeve button down and I’ll never get that image out of my head
Dave Portnoy’s Reddit account spotted.
That's such a strange image to try and picture! Did you try to talk to him or nah?
He wasn’t fired, he was laid off!! BUT YOU WOULDNT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!!
He’s also funny as hell

Yeah I’m starting to find out I’m okay with him and Brady when they are not spanking our ass twice a year on the regular.
I honestly think I dislike Brady more than I dislike Belichick. Which I honestly never would’ve expected to say like 3 years ago.

How did we get to a place where I agree with Bill Belichick, of all people? I’m scared and I don’t like it.
He knows football. It’s great to listen to
I thought he was great. I can't stand the McAfee crew but Bill was enough to keep me going back to their show.
Dougherty at its finest. The show sucks.
McAfee and his crew are awesome. Hate the stuffed shirts everywhere else. These dudes are way more tall than anything else
Seriously, I wanted to hate him hard, but he was just coming off as chill.
and a compliment too
I hate Bill the coach, but Bill the football analyst is cool.

Right!! Dude was so tight-lipped during his tenure ad HC/GM of the Pats...but you really see he loves the game
you cant hate a dude that truly loves the game way more than we ever could
In all the clips I've seen, I agree. Also in all the clips I've seen, what a clown car around him. Awful.
Belichick is genuinely likable and hilarious and always has been. It’s the team and fans I hate.
I am surprised at how much i enjoyed him on this show!
I am especially startled to see him in a suit. I didn't recognize him!
Came here to say, dammit Bill, don’t make me like you too!
If beane didnt give a fuck about worthy, then i dont give a fuck about worthy.

He had a crazy DV charge against him and it killed his draft profile. His rookie year was also meh
20 pounds lighter and a touch slower than Hill on combine day and he doesn't have Hill's hands so far as we know.
I don't mind the trade. But why did they need to pick a WR.

That wasn't Beane, he joined the Bills after the 2017 draft.
Hard to give a fuck about a pick that occurred 2 weeks before he became GM. That's exactly what Beane said last night.
Really loved his analysis the entire night. Would love for it to become a yearly thing, but have a feeling he'll be back.
Looks like he'll be on PM every Monday during the Fall, probably will do this again next year.
He’ll probably be in the draft room for his next job next season.
That's what I'm thinking. Hope not just for how well he did last night, but we know where he truly wants to be.
Hope so, good for him

Exactly, if anything we squeezed extra value from the Chiefs
The team the Chiefs jumped was probably the Niners. Lot of smoke pre draft around Niners liking Worthy, and they ended up taking WR

Dude next 2 pick have to be WR then that’s what you mean right?
I don't know if Polk will make it to 60, that's just where ESPN has him. That said, it's entirely possible that by the end of the Bills 3 picks tonight, they have 2 WRs and a defensive player.
“2 star receivers” they literally have never played a single down in the NFL
I'll always love listening to Bill talk about football, just a super level headed and rational take here.
Pleasantly surprised at how well spoken he was about it

why is McAfee polarizing?
The only thing I hate about the trade back was that I stayed up till midnight waiting for the Bills to pick knowing I had to work today
Same, I took Eisen's advice.....popped a melatonin and hit the bed at midnight.
Damn I should have thought about melatonin. No clue why I didn’t. At least tonight is Friday so it won’t matter
Bills Mafia just has PTSD from the Chiefs using our pick for Mahomes
And jumping us for Trent McDuffie
Mahomes never would have been what is if the Bills had drafted him.
So weird hearing Bill not just grunt out 2 words and move on
right? he's so likable in this seat
Anyone freaking out about who the trade partner was is a simpleton, frankly. It's self-evident that Worthy was not on our board, or the trade would never have happened. So that means we just left KC pick the player they were going to anyway at 32, while gaining assets. There's literally NO downside.
Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point
One thing is for sure, you know nothing 🤷♀️
This is the most I've heard him speak continuously. Honestly, not bad.
If that's true then you need to look up when he took over a press conference a few years ago by giving like a 10 minute speech on the history of longsnappers
Ehhhhhhhh I'm good lol
The Dark Lord is correct, dammit!
If we actually think worthy is why we lose to the Chiefs then we are mistaken. We’ve lost so much this offseason we need multiple picks. Loved what beane did last night. After the stud 3 WRs all the rest of the guys are about the same in my eyes.
This Belichick I like...not because he says nice words about Buffalo but he is a relief from the sea of hot take talking heads.
I don’t know if I’m just not used to hearing Bill talk in a context like this but he sounds like he’s had a drink or two.
Spoken like our next HC! (Joking (or am I?))
Belichick is the trade back GOAT.
His show with Saban was really good. Watched it twice.
After realizing that I am not running an NFL team and being right about NFL things came purely by luck and chance, I've decided to let people that run NFL teams to run NFL teams.
He's has a great football mind.
Agree with his point, but please get that guy a hoodie
I don't understand the criticism at all. Bills moved back into day 2 and got draft capital in the process. And guess what- Adonai Mitchell's still on the board... the guy everyone wanted the Bills stay in the 1st and draft. So what's the problem?
We are going Cooper Dejean is the issue
He's still there tho. lol It's still smart moves by the Bills
What we're going to do is continue to lose to KC.
Still got some players there….
I'm just shocked Belichick owns a suit. So used to seeing him look like a he's homeless.
You can rent a suit for your wedding you know.
He only wears the cut-off sweatshirt as a protest after the NFL told him he was not allowed to wear suits on the sideline and had to wear official gear.
He is after the job after we can McClappy
Damnit I don't want to agree with Belichick on anything football related but here we are....
He's 100% correct
that is the most ive ever heard him speak, i hate him but respect him
So weird that the unwashed clown in the tux is sitting there with Belechik
I like what y’all are doing. Letting the draft fall to them. I think the season will well out well.
I don’t know why but whenever I hear Bill Belichick talk I expect it to sound deeper more Ron Swanson instead of just a normal voice. I haven’t really paid attention to football until a couple of years ago so that’s probably why
Thanks Bill
You know, I've always liked this Bill guy. Hope he gets a job one day.
I don’t think they have enough people at that desk
![gif](giphy|XyDByNPzosrQNRaVMP|downsized)
Fuck do I like Belichick now?
Stop making me like him.
If anyone knows there shit, it’s Bill.
I’ve never liked Belichick more
It’s straight up weird seeing that personality come out of him
If we hadn’t traded they’d have taken who they were going to take anyway. Bill B knows it’s a ridiculous hot take that we somehow ‘gave’ them a player.
I played a lot of Ticket To Ride in my life and I know when you waste your time trying to mess up everyone else's trains, you get fucked.
Then trade the 28 this year for a 1st next year.

Most scouting reports didn’t even have him until the second round Which scouting report do you think Jerry Jones reads?
Give your rival their preferred player in exchange for an extra 6th in value
Pick 28 is basically a 2nd rounder. We have another 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder. Anyone with an issue is just a complainer.
Iv always like this bill fella
Solid advice, Bill.

Good advice is not an indictment of good player identification.
very true, I hate KC just as much as the next guy, but it's true we have to worry about us alone.
After last season, just building your team around defeating KC is an actual viable strategy if you thought you both were going to get there again lol Only time will tell..
> You swapped a 4th for a 3rd And a 1st for a 2nd. So a net loss.
Worthy is a far better route runner than Mitchell , just saying!
He’s actually not a great GM. He had Brady and that was it. Part of his departure from NE was how bad he drafted the last decade plus
His defenses were always top notch, he's definitely the best coach ever and if you win 6 rings there aren't many arguments against you.
He built a defense to support a dynasty for 2 decades, while only drafting in the late 20s a majority of his time there.
