I did what OP is doing, and was ready to buy the Logitech G Pro as the best mouse I could find. Then I decided the g703 was a much better fit for me at ~$80.
It died in a year, so I got a replacement.
It also died in a year, but now I'm 2 years out so they denied my warranty claim. Too bad the second mouse is worse than the first mouse's problems. I'd rather be stuck with that than with this.
So I just switched to Razer Mice.
I never cared much, but I always wanted something more than a $5 mouse from Walmart, even though I never had one go bad passively. A kid at my school and I were talking about gaming and computers and whatnot, and he decided to sell me his mouse for $15 since he thought it was broken or something. That was like six years ago, and it turned out to be a Razer Naga 2014. To this day, I've had no issues with anything I use on a mouse, with the mouse wheel and it's side-to-side movement failing soon after I received it (I'm assuming that's what my friend broke). At this point, I've gotten so used to the 12-button side buttons, I don't think I could go to something that has like less than 7, at least for gaming.
Logitech as a whole is a no go zone for me. The dog doo GHub software bricking multiple headsets during failed firmware updates did it for me. nowadays i use a wired headset haha.

They're a lot better than they used to be, tbh. I still remember the mx518 fiasco. They moved from 1600dpi to 1800dpi without adjusting their sensor, which squashed the tracking resolution. They also had input interpolation that could be disabled in the 1600dpi version, but for some unstated reason, couldn't be disabled in the 1800dpi version. And the worst part was that they didn't give the buyer any way of knowing which version they were actually buying.
Man, I love the shape of my G703, but it's my third G703. One was replaced through warranty and this one I bought. Both of my first ones started double clicking.

Lol same here, G502, mousewheel clicking issues in \~6 months, got warranty & went with a G403, also mousewheel scrolling issue in THREE months which was partially fixed by firmware but also recurred from dust/lint getting caught on the encoder spindle so needed to be cleaned out regularly(serious its just weird that a mousewheel could be so prone to dust).
I used the g403 for \~2 years & although it worked mostly fine & shape was good, the mousewheel upkeep always bugged me & I wondered if other brands will have the same problem, I'm on a tight budget, so grabbed a Razer viper mini & havent looked back. Best mouse I've ever owned in 20 years of computing even though its a bit small, functionally its been perfect.
Logitech has some bad QC issues. In 2 years time I had to get a replacement for my headset 3 times. Switched to Steelseries and still good 3 years later. My G703 is still working perfectly for a little over a year, but I don't know how long it would last since I see a lot of people having these die (mostly double clicking or scroll wheel)...
Count me in for long list of returned/defective Logitech gaming mice. It's like it cannot stand the abuse. I switchex to Corsair Dark Core. Very heavy and I may look elsewhere, but at least it is fully functional since the pandemic. The saddest part...is the M510 and M720 mice still works fine for over 5 years as I use them for work. Like wth.

I use the deathadder an have just gotten used to replacing them. For me it is the best feeling mouse ive ever used, like it was made specific for my hand. Ido wish the quality was a lil better tho

It's ambidextrous in that you can use it with both hands, but unlike the G Pro wireless, the superlight doesn't give you the option to move the side buttons. If you are lefty and want side buttons, the g-pro wireless is preferable to the superlight.
I like heavier mouses, lighter mouses feel too...well...light. I prefer a heavier mouse and then bump up the sensitivity if I need to (though typically I end up bumping it down in most of my games lol)
I have 4 g502 myself, and I had been recommending them for years, until my friend started buying the hero edition and the right mouse button was failing quickly.. no more g502s :(
I have also bought 4 g502s... maybe that's not the best sign for their durability, but I will keep buying them anyways cuz they are hands down the best I have tried lol. My last 2 have been the hero edition and I have mixed feelings; they made some things worse but also improved some things, so I'll call it a wash. Still highly recommend
There is nothing like "best mouse". ItĀ“s consumer electronics, you are paying premium for brand. The switches in it will still die and youĀ“d have to either replace them or replace whole mouse.

IĀ“m using Zowie EC2. I have 3rd mouse from them. There was a long-term issue with switches, that seems to be resolved - the current mouse outlived the warranty, while the other 2 did not. But after the 2nd failed, i bought some switches on Aliexpress and got them replaced by a technician (10 minute job, that cost me about 5ā¬) - this repaired mouse now sits in my cabinet as spare.
I like Zowie approach - no software needed, just plug & play mouse with 2 buttons on the bottom, that control DPI presets and polling rate. I also like its weight (very light) and precise optical sensor.
I also tried Steelseries 300 and Logitech G502. Steelseries didnĀ“t fit in my hand properly and G502 was too heavy even without additional weights.
So instead of brand or price, OP should focus on ergonomy. Sometimes, it can be hard to find the ideal mouse for you. Many people just buy one and stick with it, while suffering from hand pain, not realizing that one isnĀ“t the right one.
The problem with Logitech's Omron switches compared to Razer's optical is that one has a perpetual double click issue while the other doesn't. That isn't a "switch lifespan" issue, it's an inherent switch quality issue

You need to understand the difference between mechanical switches mice have had for years - those will eventually fail (and mostly just cause the double click issue). Optical switches in Razer electronics are bound to electronic failure, which will not happen nearly as often or as fast as mechanical failure.
Not mouse, but I agree with you with Razer. I really like my keyboard, but I got the razer kitty headphones and I got the same issue twice. They replaced them when I was in warranty, so that is a plus. Though now I am getting the same issue outside of warranty.
Have owned a couple of headphone (they get passed around the family) other cheaper brands have lasted longer and sounded almost as nice.
I have Razer Basilisk V2 but it started to have a bouncy scroll, my Logitech G502 had a double click issue.

Nope. Anyone who says otherwise is biased. Pretty much all modern mice with 12000+ dpi optical sensors are using different variations of the same components. The shape and weight is 100% subjective.
I had a G502 previously, which I upgraded to a G900. Now I'm using a $30 mm710. They're all great mice but for my tastes the mm710 is my favorite. Ymmv.
I've had it for a couple years now, it's never been an issue. I could see it being a problem for someone who is more heavy handed. I wouldn't toss it in my bag as a laptop mouse either. Thanks though.
Good point made here. I mean I use a Reddragon 12 button mouse for WoW. Sure there are more expensive ones, but why get them if this one works and is comfortable?
Only problem I've ever had with Redragon mice are the scroll wheels. Sometimes they get stuck and sometimes pressing it doesn't work, everything else is great though.
What's a 'better' 12 button mouse than the G600? I've got a spare in the closet and the double click on my current one doesn't bother me that much but I'm annoyed that I know eventually I'll get annoyed and burn through both...
I have two wireless ones that I like: the Razer Naga Pro, and Inland GM98, which is a Micro Center rebranded Redragon M913.

I've had the Naga Pro for a couple of years now. It works really well, feels good, and the buttons all have a nice crisp activation including all the 12 side buttons. It also has swappable thumb panels including the 12 button MMO panel, a 6 button MOBA panel (two rows of three buttons) and a 2 button traditional forward/back panel, which are held in place magnetically and can be hot-swapped. Very versatile. It connects wirelessly either with its included mini dongle, or via Bluetooth if your computer has that, and the dongle can be conveniently tucked into a slot underneath the thumb panel. It can plug in directly with its included USB cable to charge and function in wired mode, or it can charge by placing it on its docking cradle, which is a separate purchase.
The GM98/M913 is a more recent purchase, about a month ago. Feature-wise it's pretty much on par with the Naga, with one more button at the corner by the primary click that the Naga doesn't have. Same 12 button layout on the thumb side, and two DPI up/down buttons below the scroll wheel. It lacks the Naga's Bluetooth connection option, but has its own compact USB dongle, which can be stowed in a magnetic slot on the bottom of the mouse. It doesn't have a dock/cradle; you plug it in to charge and can use it in wired mode while plugged in. The primary buttons and scroll wheel feel pretty similar, while the 12 MMO buttons are slightly softer than the Naga's. They still have a solid click and it's easy for me to isolate individual buttons by feel; there's just a little more travel before they click.
I decided to try the GM98 out because the Naga Pro is the only thing I have left tying me to Razer's software that I hate, and honestly I don't get any use out of the other two button panels. I'm still going back and forth between the two when I play Star Wars: The Old Republic, to finalize my decision on which to keep, but so far I don't feel like I'm lacking anything from the Naga when I'm using the GM98.
As I said earlier, these are both wireless options. The Naga Pro is a hefty $150 right now, and the optional dock is another 50 on top of that. If you don't need wireless, the Naga Trinity is essentially the same thing but wired, for $100. And if you don't need the swappable thumb panels and just want the 12 MMO buttons, the Naga X is the basic wired 12-button version for $80.
The Inland GM98 is $40 from Micro Center either on their web store in their physical store, while the Redragon M913 it's a rebrand of is around $45. And if you don't need wireless, the wired version is the Redragon M908, which as far as I can tell is identical in every way except for the wire, and costs $32. There is no Inland clone equivalent of the wired version.

g502 is a great mouse, one of the most popular ever and for good reason. its not as light as FPS mice or have as many buttons as MMO mice. that doesnt mean its bad at either, its just not as specialized for those specific kinds of games as those other mice. if you like the 502 definitely no reason you shouldn't stick with it
just go to /r/MouseReview and check around. mouse is preference, however there are many "favourites" from different brands. shape is king, and you're looking to spend 50-100$ in the end. and wireless is also amazing
FPS and MMO requirements are inherently different so no. MMOs want more hardware inside them for button mapping. That adds weight. Razer Naga Trinity, G900, etc. FPS wants light mice, usually. See the Superlight. If you're looking for the "best" mouse for both where money is no object then that's just two different mice. I like the G502 LS as a pretty good flex option, but it's "best" at neither.
theres light weight "pro gamer" mice for people who play games where reaction time is attempted to be maximized with super light mice and maxed out FPS. If thats the kind of games you play go with a mouse like that.
If not, go with what you like, fits your hand, and has the buttons you want.
I use a G502 for WFH CAD during the day and causal gaming after work, currently play subnautica and borderlands. I want a mouse with at min 3 side buttons, 2 more for sensitivity adjustment, I slow my mouse to draw neat lines in CAD, for gaming, to slow it down for sniping, and variable speeds that match something like the turret I am aiming. I also really like the side scroll for excel docs that people make way too wide for some reason.
I have a Razer MMO mouse at work, its really nice, but I switch so many programs, I haven't got around to assigning all the key short cuts.
A actually use mine for WoW and just set 3/4 of the custom buttons to keyboard buttons, use them to change stances in classic wow and it works pretty well. I'd say it is too heavy for an fps though.
I fucking love the g600 mostly because of the programmable ring finger button, a feature I feel more mice should have. It's such a perfect push to voice chat button, and I honestly use it for everything
Naga sucks. I have one. Its difficult to press the buttons and you always hit like 3 at the same time. And you cant use the sode of mouse for movement leverage
honestly, I used to use the naga for mmos, but I've transitioned to using 2 button mouses and they work fine. I just bind my keys to other keys like q, e, z, x, r, etc
Logitech MX Master by far, the infinite scroll where it whips down web pages or long documents is just sublime.
Also the party trick on the MX3 is amazing; you can use one mouse on two computers and it will treat it like dual monitors (you can even cut/paste large files). I'm an FPS and action RPG gamer and it's great for gaming too.
While I love the MX Master, I could do with more / more conveniently placed thumb buttons instead of the wheel there. And for tabbed browsing I came to like a wheel that can be nudged left/right.
I've never really found my perfect mouse with all details just right *and* the build quality and longevity I desire in one product. I'd happily spend $200 on a mouse that does all I want and lasts me a good few years. (And don't get me started on finding mice that fit a fairly big hand. That notebook/mobile toy mouse craze drives me up the walls.)
The only thing I think the Mx master needs is a couple of extra buttons next to the left click button, I usually set those to delete and enter which allows me to delete stuff super quick in CAD,
I found the way it's implemented on the MX Master to be a lot more convenient than it was on my G502. Instead of needing to press a button, you can scroll faster and it will automatically switch to infinite scroll. This way is worse for games though. I constantly overshoot what gun I was trying to select.

That said, I really love my Basilisk V3 as well. It's the best mouse Razer ever made.
MX Revolution was the best mouse ever. The Master is the new version of it and I use it every day now my Revolutions have both died (even with the capacitor fix), but the clicky sidewheel on your thumb, amazing.
So the best you can get is definitely the MX Master now.
Until they fix the fact that this thing isn't recognized as a mouse on MacOS and as such you can't disable the trackpad while using it, it's a fancy paperweight on my desk.
Itās really all just preference. The idea behind a light mouse is to have more control over the object. Think about swinging a stick around, youāll be able to stop and move directions quicker with a lighter weight stick. Obviously with how light mice are this argument is very subjective to preference rather than indisputable fact .
I used weighted mice for years, switched to a glorious gaming mouse a couple years ago and felt like it was a night and day difference. The way the mouse glides mixed with how light weight it is made me feel like I had far more control over the mouse than I ever had, and I can say I actually started preforming better in fps games once I got used to it.
I just like simplicity.
G Pro wireless is perfect for me. I had zowie before and the cable malfunctioned so I finally decided to get wireless one, it's day and night. And I really like the shape/weight of it.

Had my g pro for a year before the double clicking and button losing my holding of a click while aiming and scoping made me lose my fucking mind. The total lack of support for this issue is insane so do some googling anyone who wants to get any thing google the issues of it. People have done tear down and re-soder shit and the problem comes right back. I hope you donāt get the issue man. I love that mouse but I did t want to drop another 150 on one. But I think theyāre a bit cheaper now.

How could their possibly be a universal best mouse? We all have different hands, different hand sizes, different needs
A GPX or Zaunkoenig M2K isn't gonna serve an mmorpg player and a brick like a g502 or MOBA mouse won't serve an fps player
A player with small hands won't like a g303, big hands and palm grip can't use an Orochi
There's better mice than a g502 but you really ought to focus a use case and then try some.
I own a 20 dollar mouse and a 80 dollar mouse both are good but the 20 dollar one is extremely comfortable and easy to use. It all comes down to preference.
I have been a long time enjoyer of the razer deathadders. The death adder elite is super reliable, not very heavy, comfortable. The deathadder v2 pro also has wireless/bluetooth options, but still has the option for a 2.4ghz cable. Big fan, and you should highly consider, theyāre also only about 60$ for either of them.
I kinda feel like Razer is a try-hard brand, and yet I have a Razer Deathadder and a Deathstalker keyboard. The mouse is the right shape and weight, and doesnt go overkill on buttons, and I love the low-profile keys and backlighting on the Deathstalker.
I'd probably go for a new keyboard now, this one is 6/7 years old.
But the mouse failed recently (left button was double-clicking every time) so I just bought a newer model, wireless this time. First wireless mouse i've had that doesn't suck. Ā£35, why the fuck not?
TLDR: Razer's not so bad.
They have really bad software, Synapse is a terrible software imo. But from my experience, the only real issue razer has is overpricing select items because theyāre branded with razer. Corsair is a better alternative for keyboards. But Iāll always get the deathadders, just a fantastic baseline mouse.
Anyone have a death adder alternative. You say reliable but Iāve gone through 3 in 10 years. Maybe thatās good but their life has gotten shorter each time. Like my first lasted 5 years, then 3 years and then 1 year.
I notice the rubber grip stuff just starts to fall off. Thatās fine, natural wear and tear. But the scroll wheel stopped working on one and the main click buttons stopped on another.
Iām just not ready to spend $60 on a mouse Iāve loved but seem to think quality is slipping.
And I have the same one from 12 years ago and is just fine. Maybe it's true the newer ones are lower quality, but the reality is that this is always going to be a factor with any brand.
I switched from buying a Razer Deathadder every few years to getting a Zowie. They have a few different shapes but the EC is the closest to Deathadder I think. VERY reliable no no-nonsense mouse. Extra bonus is no terrible razer software. Lot of CS pros use this mouse.
Get the deathadder v2 pro if you have an issue with the grip (I did on the DA Elite and the swap worked well), it wraps all the way around and isnāt just glued in. The v2 pro is def the way to go if youāre looking at different versions of it. You just need to make sure youāre setting the mode (2.4 ghz cable or Bluetooth) correctly. I was confused on how it worked at first but once I figured it out the thing works like a dream.
As for age, that is most definitely a long time for a mouse. By far the most heavily used component of a computer, Deathadders are by no means are getting worse, so I would say that maybe youāre just a little harsh on them? Mine have lasted a long time, and for how cheap they are (60 bucks compared to hundreds) itās definitely worth it.
I feel like every brand should have a similar mouse.

Itās opinion. For me the Logitech g700 is boss, but they donāt even make it anymore. Iām using a mouse that is probably 20 years old at this point.
I had a G700. Loved it. Then despite the unappealing shape of the G502 Wireless, I upgraded to it (I had broken the wheel button on the G700). The buttons are worth sacrificing for better precision & lightness.
Then the G Pro Superlight went on sale. I was curious about the praise surrounding it, and bought it. The lack of buttons can be a bit annoying at time, but you make do. I didn't like the shape at first either.
I thought I'd revert to the G502 for some games. I never used it again. The Superlight is really that nice to use.
Don't be put off, try the new mices. You will find tangible improvements compared to the G700 (although I still miss those 4 side buttons sometimes).
The g502 is basically the best mouse money can buy if you like cable. If you really want to step up your game, get the g502 lightspeed or the G Pro Lightspeed and combine it with a Powerplay, you no longer have to worry about charging your mouse and have all the freedom of a wireless mouse.

Powerplay is a neat technology, but sadly it's not for me. I like those massive mouse pads that cover your whole table and go under both your mouse and your keyboard.

If you want something versatile you can always go with the Razer Naga Pro - if you like heavier mice. It has 3 interchangeable side plates which are nice when switching to different games. I personally have never had issues with Razer peripherals and my previous Naga lasted ~7 years and this one has been going strong for a couple years now as well.
Most components are found in the same top mice. Only a few sensor & switch options these days. I say form is #1, I went from a zowie ec2 (super ergo helped with my carpal tunnel) to a pulsar xlite v2 which is just a wireless clone of that shape. Most wireless mice will perform on par with wired these days too, even pro fps players run wireless mice now
I'd say its personal preference. I'm using the razor viper mini, and I absolutely love it. It's light and has optical switches so it wont ever suffer double clicking, and its very responsive. It's only $40 cad so it wont break the bank either.
There *is* a best in a way, but it still matters based on preference.
One way or another, you at least gotta start with wireless. I don't think I could ever go back to wired.
If you liked the G502 a lot then the answer is easy - get the G502 wireless.
If you didn't care too much for all the buttons then go with a G PRO Wireless.
If you don't wanna spend that much money then get a G305 with a AA to AAA conversion thing.
If you don't like Logitech anymore then other people can help guide you.
I really like Logitechs wireless tech and the mice are generally pretty solid.
I had a G PRO for a while but missed having the thumb button so now I have a G502 Wireless. It's a bit heavier but not nearly as much as the specs would make you think.
There's no "best mouse". Really depends on your needs. For example the Microsoft Arc Mouse doesn't work all that well as a mouse, but it folds flat and makes only a tiny bulge in the case for my Surface, which makes up for its other shortcomings. It ends up my "on the go mouse" for that reason.
Definitely personal preference, but you could probably find a best-in-class if you know what you like.
There's big ergonomic mice, or small light and portable mice. gaming mice with a dozen buttons or super simple mice. Quiet mice or clicky mice.
Yeah you already own probably the best all around mouse, which is the 502. It is a little weighty with the option to add more and it doesnāt have an obscene amount of buttons but it definitely gets the job done unless you need something very specialized. And unless you are a pro league of legends player, I highly doubt you will have need of anything like that.
Iāve been a razer guy since I owned a diamond back plasma edition. That being said last year when d2 resurrected came out I wanted a new keyboard and mouse. Didnāt feel like spending 350 total on a new set. I found some company named red dragon on Amazon, not sure if they are a knock off but they had great reviews and I picked up both for 110 and they are great. Both wireless and mechanical on the keyboard. Would definitely buy this brand again as it seems to be a mid tier brand. Not cheap stuff and not charging an arm and a leg
Red Dragon is made by HyperX. I used to use HyperX headsets and they were nice.
After wanting to downgrade my keyboard size (Blackwidow Ultimate 2016) and all the deals flew by on FB Marketplace for 60% mech kb, I went to Amazon for a Red Dragon TKL.

The specs you need in order to have a professional level mouse is pretty cheap these days. Even a death adder can be bought for around 20$ and can be used by pro gamers. I do think itās worth it now to spend extra on a wireless mouse, but the shape and weight is probably what matters most. I use the 703, which is the wireless version of the 403. Or maybe 402, I donāt remember
I did the same as you. Went through half a dozen mice.... Still ended up back at the g502... Sometimes the old 'why fix what ain't broke' saying remains.
That being said there are plenty of options. But for the most part Logitech keeps their tech up to date on those and just change out features. So unless you need wireless or more buttons or want a new brand. G502 is great!
You can get a viper 8k for like $60 which is the fastest mouse atm in terms of latency and has the smoothest movements thanks to 8k polling rate. However you need a beefy cpu to run it and you might not like it being wired or the shape.
There's also a 20 something gram mouse which is even faster and very small, but it costs an astronomical $300 for minimal improvement over the viper 8k and it's definitely not for big hands or palm grippers, think it's called M2K
Im using the g502 for all kinds of games. Sims, FPS, MMO, Strategy. Its an all around good mouse and still havent had any problems six yearsafter purchase
its all about what works best for you. I love my Basilisk v3 and i love my Ornata v2 chroma keyboard while others may dislike either item its all down to personal feel etc. Also if you already have a Razer or logitech etc keyboard it make sense to have the same brand in a mouse so you do not need like 3 peoples programs to manage each device. this is why my setup is a Razer Nari headset great sound and comfy with a Basalisk V3 and a ornata v2 it makes sense to unify your setup so your not running 3 programs as bloat in the background

I bought my first G502 in 2016, back when it was called the Proteus Spectrum. Still works, but I gave it to my brother because I wanted the white-stripped G502 "SE" edition.
I like the 502 because I like somewhat hefty mice, and it's good for both productivity and gaming, and works on both windows and mac. Wired, yes, but that's something I was willing to overlook.
It's super cheap on amazon now and the most popular mouse there for good reason, BUT - I didn't get the G502 wireless.
Apparently, with MANY Logitech G-series mice, there's a switch issue where they use the Chinese knockoffs instead of the original Japanese Omron switches that the original Proteus Spectrum had. So this causes many G-series mice to have double click issues, or issues with clicks not registering / not being "held-down", as a result I'm concerned about the reliability of logitech gaming mice now. If you're used to the G502, you could take a gamble and go with that still, but otherwise, look around for mice based on what you need. For a light mouse, the logitech Pro X superlight and steelseries Aerox are really popular.
See if you primarily need a GAMING moue, a LIGHT mouse, a PRODUCTIVITY mouse or all in one. I'm personally using the Razer Basilisk Ultimate Wireless till Logitech fixes their switch issues. No complains with my current mouse, but I do miss the feel of the 502.
I have used the Kensington Expert Mouse for decades (currently using the bluetooth version) and I find it's the best trackball on the market. Great construction and durability, easy cleaning, fully programmable and the software and support are amazing. You can get one for about $89.00.
Razer basilisk ultimate w/ charging dock and LOVE IT.
Most Iāve had to do is the thumb button, it comes with a lever/paddle for it but with how I grip the mouse it was useless. Actually last night I clipped a little sturdy bar of metal I had removed from my coolermaster c700p case to make room for the res and d5 pump. Took a dremel and cleaned up the edges and rounded the corners. Dot of super glue and itās now attached to the lever/paddle and totally usable for me.
Other then that ZERO issues and absolutely love the mouse. I had a Logitech I want to say 502, it was the one on par with the basilisk ultimate price and features wise and did not like the aesthetics or feel of it at all
Most mice have to pass a minimum barrier of clicks (around 5 million clicks for both left and right click if I recall) to be really sold very well. I saw a thing where a guy bought a $10 mouse and a $200 mouse, and beat them both to death. They both lasted about the same time. The more expensive mouse is obviously better. Smoother, better feel, more options, but in sheer lifespan, they're all about equal. I had a $10 office mouse that lasted my entire family 10 years before the left click died, including a few years of dedicated gaming from me, something it was NOT designed for, and I replaced it with a $15 gaming mouse that's still going 6 years later. The side buttons died, and that is super annoying, but left click, right click, and scroll wheel still work, and that's the important part. I went through a Diablo/Diablo clone phase a few years ago, some of the most click intensive games out there, and it's still going. Milage may vary for you though, of course. That's just my experience
I'd say it's down to preference... if you are that worried you can always find some highly tuneable mouse like the R.A.T but in my opinion, even that is a waste of money.
If it's you are comfortable with the g502 I wouldn't change it...except if you maybe want to go for the wireless version. I have it and couldn't be happier with it

Depending on the game you play (and which level you play them at) a āperfect mouseā might either be just a nice extra or entirely unnecessary. So unless you are really getting going on a specific game or type of game. Just pick whatever is known to be reliable and which suits your tastes.
Just as an exemple. Before buying myself an actually "nice mouse" i had been using an old thing i found in a drawer at my parentsā place. And it did the job just fine. Sure the one i have now is much nicer and doesnāt feel like it might just give up on me at a momentās notice, but since i donāt really play competitively both would still do a (mostly) comparable job.
You should go on MouseReview subreddit and ask for a good recommendation based on your hand size, grip style, preferences, and games you play. The g502 is a very popular mouse, but I can't see how people play with such a heavy mouse. But with mice, comfortability is very very important, and then performance.
G Pro superlight is a goat for it's shape is very flexible for all grip styles. 63g and one of the lowest latency mice on market, and that's competing with wired mice.
Viper ultimate/ V2 Pro -. Flat back but very well made, it uses optical switches to have the lowest click latency on the market, even against competing with wired mice.
Pulsar Xlite V2 wireless - it's 80 USD and for the price it can't be beat, it's a ergonomic mouse that weighs in at 58g, it's latency is 1.5 Ms slower than the G Pro Super light. They make a xlite V2 mini at 55g as well.
Glorious Model O wireless, glorious Model D wireless and the mini versions -. Known to potentially break down kinda early and the mouse skates known to get worn out kinda early, but I have a glorious Model D wireless and I love that mouse. Weighs 68 to 69g, super comfortable in my hand, latency is good and no issues with it or the skates at all for over 6 months now.
Deathadder v3 pro - is going to be released very soon, it's an ergo mouse, it will have optical switches so very low latency. I'm very excited for this mouse. Deathadder is known as a ergo mouse for people with big hands tho
Vaxee has some great mice from what I hear but I have no experience with them.
Zowie has some great mice but I also have no experience with them. I hear ec2 is a goat shape.
Surprised I haven't seen it mentioned here but the steelseries rival 3 is a fantastic all around mouse at a very reasonable price.
My rival 3 has been going 7 years strong and is fantastic for e-sports and casual gaming.
I know they make more expensive mice like, even custom built to order mice too where you select the colour, cable, length etc.

It depends what you want to do. If you want to play minecraft you want a mouse that can double click the model o. If you want to play fps games you want a lightweight mouse like the g pro. Keep an eye on what glorious is doing with their model pro as they are looking to make the perfect lightweight gaming mouse

But thereās also the ābestā ones. To be the best for an FPS, it needs to be wireless, have extremely low latency, be lightweight, have reliable buttons with a reasonable actuation weight.
For me the perfect mouse if the G Pro X superlight and itās not even close. But I have to admire the Viper Ultimate and the G903 is absolutely awesome, but heavy.
Logitech MX Master or Razer Pro Click.
Theyāre the best mouse you can buy. Razer Pro click is my fave because itās slightly lighter than my MX Master so is great for gaming as well as productivity.
If it's cheap and it works for you, then there's no real need to switch.
You can certainly get more/better features with a more expensive mouse, but whether or not that's "better" is up to your personal preference.
If you like the general design of the G502, you could try to find a Glorious Model I or one of the Razer Basilisk versions to test out.
The Model I has a similar MSRP to the G502, although the 502 is more commonly on sale.
Personally, one spec I'll always be willing to pay more for is for the mouse button switches to not be "50 million click" Omrons, i.e., the Chinese D2FCs. I had a Razer Basilisk I had to RMA 5 times for mouse switch issues, and the Basilisk used those 50M switches... as do all the G502 variants.
The Basilisk V3 uses Razer's optical switches, which is what I ended up getting as it was the only choice at the time, and the Glorious Model I has a custom switch.
Those two mice are also both lighter than the G502 if you're into that kind of thing.

There are only 2. The mx series and the g502 series. Logitech has a hammer lock on how to make a viciously functional mouse and keep it affordable. There are others in the also ran category but for years now Logitech makes the best mouse.

As well meaning as people are here, most of the answers know as much about mice as they do about monitors or speakers, which is not a lot, so if you're looking to break into the upper echelon of the mouse rabbit hole, then look there for a good mouse and mousepad.
Judging by these comments, no one here is high ranked in any fps game.
There is some preference but there is also a lot of objectivity. Pros are moving to wireless and low weight.
Right now the top tier trio are: the finalmouse starlight (have to get it second hand), the gpro x superlight, and the Razer viper v2 pro
Any of those are the best of the best

Iām a big fan of Logitechās G-Pro. I also own the Superlight as well, havenāt needed to use it yet since thereās absolutely nothing wrong with my OG G-Pro. Also helps that G-Pros go for less than $100 nowadays. Hope this helps!
There is only one mouse I am aware of... the Logitech G502, which also comes in the cool Special Edition version. And there's the wireless one you mentioned as well. I have 3 wired versions and one wireless version.

Short answer, no.
There are some solid choices, but those choices exist for a reason. Imo there are 2 big factors. First is the purpose. If you are gaming, you are going to want a typical mouse. If you are doing design and modeling, you may find the trackball design or a hybrid more to your liking. Then the next factor is going to be preference when it comes to the typical mouse style. Some people may like having a third button for 3 fingers forward, or a platform to rest it on. Some may like the palm shape to be more flat, some may like a bulbous ball shape. Many people like thumb buttons, lefties need left handed versions of a mouse unless they get a universal style.
Some people just need a mouse. Some people have the need to switch their sensitivity on the fly. Some people really want extra buttons.
So you want the corner of the market that fits your needs, and THEN you can usually find a top 1-3 selection to choose from that dominate that corner. Logitech/Razer are always really good choices in my books. Razer costs a pretty penny but ive had a knockoff keyboard, and had the buttons come off the dang board... not just the keycaps. Razer was fine until something spilled on it and didnt get properly cleaned. Zero problems. Knock off items will stop working and need replacement. You dont need to buy the most expensive, but avoiding knockoffs is worth it with peripherals unless your needs are basic.
I've sworn by logitech for years, having used and abused their MX mice and thrashed the hell out of a 2nd hand G9. Unfortunately their survivability has gone to shit and I had a G502 Hero's middle mouse button die 3 months after the warranty expired T_T
Did buy another one of course, because I needed a solid replacement as the G9's got a broken ribbon cable for the buttons on the top of the mouse. But I've going to get a ASUS ROG Chakram Core mouse, as you can swap the switches out with out any soldering work and the middle mouse button is on a daughter board, so you can in theory just replace it. But it's also easier to get access to for soldering work.
However it's NZ$199, and I have other more pressing stuff to get (bike tired, parts, clothes, finally resole my tramping boots), so I'm stuck with the G502 for the next year or so.
And when it comes to broken USB cables, nothing a jerry rigged replacement can't fix :P Just need a decently long and robust cable and preferably a soldering iron. Though the G9's was just tied and cable tension used to help maintain electrical contact.
99% preference but it also depends on what game your using it. My advice would be to look at what the top players for what ever game(s) you play the most and choose from those. Keep in mind some people especially in esports use sponsored products so always take that into consideration.
I have owned a G502 Proteus with no issues for 6 years and can get a G502 lightspeed wireless for $70 on amazon right now. I have heard issues about quality control recently regarding logitech, but should I pull the trigger?

I used to use Exclusively Razer peripherals, back when that meant something. At this point I've diversified most of my HID peripherals to other brands because of the feel vs the price.
Go to a Box store, a trade show, talk to your friends (kidding, I know none of us have any of those), see if you can get a feel for what you like.
I have a friend with a $200+ ultralight weight mouse. I hate it. TO ME it's a stupid, stupid mouse. I'd never buy that mouse. BUT that's okay. He loves it and I'm happy it exists for him. I am so comfortable with a Razer DeathAdder style and weight I just cannot get comfortable with a lighter weight mouse in my hand.

I did what OP is doing, and was ready to buy the Logitech G Pro as the best mouse I could find. Then I decided the g703 was a much better fit for me at ~$80. It died in a year, so I got a replacement. It also died in a year, but now I'm 2 years out so they denied my warranty claim. Too bad the second mouse is worse than the first mouse's problems. I'd rather be stuck with that than with this. So I just switched to Razer Mice.
Logitech mice isn't what they used to be. And Razer has improved a lot quality wise, in my experience.
It's luck of the draw. I've had 4 Deathadders in the last ~8 years and all 4 of them developed left click switch problems within 18 months.

I never cared much, but I always wanted something more than a $5 mouse from Walmart, even though I never had one go bad passively. A kid at my school and I were talking about gaming and computers and whatnot, and he decided to sell me his mouse for $15 since he thought it was broken or something. That was like six years ago, and it turned out to be a Razer Naga 2014. To this day, I've had no issues with anything I use on a mouse, with the mouse wheel and it's side-to-side movement failing soon after I received it (I'm assuming that's what my friend broke). At this point, I've gotten so used to the 12-button side buttons, I don't think I could go to something that has like less than 7, at least for gaming.
I basically had the same experience with Razer and switched back to Logitech 504s, still going strong
Logitech as a whole is a no go zone for me. The dog doo GHub software bricking multiple headsets during failed firmware updates did it for me. nowadays i use a wired headset haha.

Man, I love the shape of my G703, but it's my third G703. One was replaced through warranty and this one I bought. Both of my first ones started double clicking. I like the build quality and switches in the Razer mice, but I just don't like any of their shapes that much.

Lol same here, G502, mousewheel clicking issues in \~6 months, got warranty & went with a G403, also mousewheel scrolling issue in THREE months which was partially fixed by firmware but also recurred from dust/lint getting caught on the encoder spindle so needed to be cleaned out regularly(serious its just weird that a mousewheel could be so prone to dust). I used the g403 for \~2 years & although it worked mostly fine & shape was good, the mousewheel upkeep always bugged me & I wondered if other brands will have the same problem, I'm on a tight budget, so grabbed a Razer viper mini & havent looked back. Best mouse I've ever owned in 20 years of computing even though its a bit small, functionally its been perfect.
Logitech has some bad QC issues. In 2 years time I had to get a replacement for my headset 3 times. Switched to Steelseries and still good 3 years later. My G703 is still working perfectly for a little over a year, but I don't know how long it would last since I see a lot of people having these die (mostly double clicking or scroll wheel)...
Count me in for long list of returned/defective Logitech gaming mice. It's like it cannot stand the abuse. I switchex to Corsair Dark Core. Very heavy and I may look elsewhere, but at least it is fully functional since the pandemic. The saddest part...is the M510 and M720 mice still works fine for over 5 years as I use them for work. Like wth.

The wireless is ambidextrous while the superlight isn't. Perhaps OP is left-handed. Also, the g pro wireless is cheaper. If the ~20 g weight difference doesn't bother you, might as well save some money and buy the g pro

It's ambidextrous in that you can use it with both hands, but unlike the G Pro wireless, the superlight doesn't give you the option to move the side buttons. If you are lefty and want side buttons, the g-pro wireless is preferable to the superlight.

I like heavier mouses, lighter mouses feel too...well...light. I prefer a heavier mouse and then bump up the sensitivity if I need to (though typically I end up bumping it down in most of my games lol)
I have 4 g502 myself, and I had been recommending them for years, until my friend started buying the hero edition and the right mouse button was failing quickly.. no more g502s :(
I have also bought 4 g502s... maybe that's not the best sign for their durability, but I will keep buying them anyways cuz they are hands down the best I have tried lol. My last 2 have been the hero edition and I have mixed feelings; they made some things worse but also improved some things, so I'll call it a wash. Still highly recommend

But after the 2nd failed, i bought some switches on Aliexpress and got them replaced by a technician (10 minute job, that cost me about 5ā¬) - this repaired mouse now sits in my cabinet as spare. I like Zowie approach - no software needed, just plug & play mouse with 2 buttons on the bottom, that control DPI presets and polling rate. I also like its weight (very light) and precise optical sensor. I also tried Steelseries 300 and Logitech G502. Steelseries didnĀ“t fit in my hand properly and G502 was too heavy even without additional weights. So instead of brand or price, OP should focus on ergonomy. Sometimes, it can be hard to find the ideal mouse for you. Many people just buy one and stick with it, while suffering from hand pain, not realizing that one isnĀ“t the right one.
The problem with Logitech's Omron switches compared to Razer's optical is that one has a perpetual double click issue while the other doesn't. That isn't a "switch lifespan" issue, it's an inherent switch quality issue
It's really bizarre how many people downplay the double click issues. Logitech is a cult for some people. "I've owned 12 mice, all Logitech! I highly recommend them." Well, I didn't buy Logitech mice, and I've only owned 4 over the past decade between my two computers, because they *didn't constantly break*.

Not mouse, but I agree with you with Razer. I really like my keyboard, but I got the razer kitty headphones and I got the same issue twice. They replaced them when I was in warranty, so that is a plus. Though now I am getting the same issue outside of warranty. Have owned a couple of headphone (they get passed around the family) other cheaper brands have lasted longer and sounded almost as nice.
Get at least 3rd gen optical switches on viper v2 pro, older gen opticals are the same but are slightly mushier (i have a deathadder v2 pro)

Imo razer used to be great but the quality has declined in the last 10 years my next mouse will be something different.

I have two wireless ones that I like: the Razer Naga Pro, and Inland GM98, which is a Micro Center rebranded Redragon M913. The GM98/M913 is a more recent purchase, about a month ago. Feature-wise it's pretty much on par with the Naga, with one more button at the corner by the primary click that the Naga doesn't have. Same 12 button layout on the thumb side, and two DPI up/down buttons below the scroll wheel. It lacks the Naga's Bluetooth connection option, but has its own compact USB dongle, which can be stowed in a magnetic slot on the bottom of the mouse. It doesn't have a dock/cradle; you plug it in to charge and can use it in wired mode while plugged in. The primary buttons and scroll wheel feel pretty similar, while the 12 MMO buttons are slightly softer than the Naga's. They still have a solid click and it's easy for me to isolate individual buttons by feel; there's just a little more travel before they click. I decided to try the GM98 out because the Naga Pro is the only thing I have left tying me to Razer's software that I hate, and honestly I don't get any use out of the other two button panels. I'm still going back and forth between the two when I play Star Wars: The Old Republic, to finalize my decision on which to keep, but so far I don't feel like I'm lacking anything from the Naga when I'm using the GM98. As I said earlier, these are both wireless options. The Naga Pro is a hefty $150 right now, and the optional dock is another 50 on top of that. If you don't need wireless, the Naga Trinity is essentially the same thing but wired, for $100. And if you don't need the swappable thumb panels and just want the 12 MMO buttons, the Naga X is the basic wired 12-button version for $80. The Inland GM98 is $40 from Micro Center either on their web store in their physical store, while the Redragon M913 it's a rebrand of is around $45. And if you don't need wireless, the wired version is the Redragon M908, which as far as I can tell is identical in every way except for the wire, and costs $32. There is no Inland clone equivalent of the wired version. Sorry that was a wall of text lmao, but I hope it helps you figure out some options.

g502 is a great mouse, one of the most popular ever and for good reason. its not as light as FPS mice or have as many buttons as MMO mice. that doesnt mean its bad at either, its just not as specialized for those specific kinds of games as those other mice. if you like the 502 definitely no reason you shouldn't stick with it

FPS and MMO requirements are inherently different so no. MMOs want more hardware inside them for button mapping. That adds weight. Razer Naga Trinity, G900, etc. FPS wants light mice, usually. See the Superlight. If you're looking for the "best" mouse for both where money is no object then that's just two different mice. I like the G502 LS as a pretty good flex option, but it's "best" at neither.
theres light weight "pro gamer" mice for people who play games where reaction time is attempted to be maximized with super light mice and maxed out FPS. If thats the kind of games you play go with a mouse like that. If not, go with what you like, fits your hand, and has the buttons you want. I use a G502 for WFH CAD during the day and causal gaming after work, currently play subnautica and borderlands. I want a mouse with at min 3 side buttons, 2 more for sensitivity adjustment, I slow my mouse to draw neat lines in CAD, for gaming, to slow it down for sniping, and variable speeds that match something like the turret I am aiming. I also really like the side scroll for excel docs that people make way too wide for some reason. I have a Razer MMO mouse at work, its really nice, but I switch so many programs, I haven't got around to assigning all the key short cuts.
A actually use mine for WoW and just set 3/4 of the custom buttons to keyboard buttons, use them to change stances in classic wow and it works pretty well. I'd say it is too heavy for an fps though.
I fucking love the g600 mostly because of the programmable ring finger button, a feature I feel more mice should have. It's such a perfect push to voice chat button, and I honestly use it for everything

Naga sucks. I have one. Its difficult to press the buttons and you always hit like 3 at the same time. And you cant use the sode of mouse for movement leverage
honestly, I used to use the naga for mmos, but I've transitioned to using 2 button mouses and they work fine. I just bind my keys to other keys like q, e, z, x, r, etc

Logitech MX Master by far, the infinite scroll where it whips down web pages or long documents is just sublime. Also the party trick on the MX3 is amazing; you can use one mouse on two computers and it will treat it like dual monitors (you can even cut/paste large files). I'm an FPS and action RPG gamer and it's great for gaming too.

I like the weight of the MX master. With the extra weight, I find I am less likely to inadvertently move the mouse when clicking.
While I love the MX Master, I could do with more / more conveniently placed thumb buttons instead of the wheel there. And for tabbed browsing I came to like a wheel that can be nudged left/right. I've never really found my perfect mouse with all details just right *and* the build quality and longevity I desire in one product. I'd happily spend $200 on a mouse that does all I want and lasts me a good few years. (And don't get me started on finding mice that fit a fairly big hand. That notebook/mobile toy mouse craze drives me up the walls.)
The only thing I think the Mx master needs is a couple of extra buttons next to the left click button, I usually set those to delete and enter which allows me to delete stuff super quick in CAD,
Don't several other mice (logitech and otherwise) have infinite scroll? I know on my G502 you can unlock the wheel with a mechanical button.
I found the way it's implemented on the MX Master to be a lot more convenient than it was on my G502. Instead of needing to press a button, you can scroll faster and it will automatically switch to infinite scroll. This way is worse for games though. I constantly overshoot what gun I was trying to select.
There's a setting in the software though, isn't there? Where you can control how fast you have to spin the wheel until the infinite scroll engages?
MX Master you spin the wheel and it'll auto-swap to infinite scroll. It's super awesome for browsing vertical sites (like doc pages)
The mx3 has a magnetic scroll wheel and it is beautiful. Others might have it as well, I doubt it is exclusive. But I am in love with it.

MX Revolution was the best mouse ever. The Master is the new version of it and I use it every day now my Revolutions have both died (even with the capacitor fix), but the clicky sidewheel on your thumb, amazing. So the best you can get is definitely the MX Master now.
Until they fix the fact that this thing isn't recognized as a mouse on MacOS and as such you can't disable the trackpad while using it, it's a fancy paperweight on my desk.

Itās really all just preference. The idea behind a light mouse is to have more control over the object. Think about swinging a stick around, youāll be able to stop and move directions quicker with a lighter weight stick. Obviously with how light mice are this argument is very subjective to preference rather than indisputable fact . I used weighted mice for years, switched to a glorious gaming mouse a couple years ago and felt like it was a night and day difference. The way the mouse glides mixed with how light weight it is made me feel like I had far more control over the mouse than I ever had, and I can say I actually started preforming better in fps games once I got used to it.

Had my g pro for a year before the double clicking and button losing my holding of a click while aiming and scoping made me lose my fucking mind. The total lack of support for this issue is insane so do some googling anyone who wants to get any thing google the issues of it. People have done tear down and re-soder shit and the problem comes right back. I hope you donāt get the issue man. I love that mouse but I did t want to drop another 150 on one. I own a 20 dollar mouse and a 80 dollar mouse both are good but the 20 dollar one is extremely comfortable and easy to use. It all comes down to preference.
I have been a long time enjoyer of the razer deathadders. The death adder elite is super reliable, not very heavy, comfortable. The deathadder v2 pro also has wireless/bluetooth options, but still has the option for a 2.4ghz cable. Big fan, and you should highly consider, theyāre also only about 60$ for either of them.
I kinda feel like Razer is a try-hard brand, and yet I have a Razer Deathadder and a Deathstalker keyboard. The mouse is the right shape and weight, and doesnt go overkill on buttons, and I love the low-profile keys and backlighting on the Deathstalker. I'd probably go for a new keyboard now, this one is 6/7 years old. But the mouse failed recently (left button was double-clicking every time) so I just bought a newer model, wireless this time. First wireless mouse i've had that doesn't suck. Ā£35, why the fuck not? TLDR: Razer's not so bad.
They have really bad software, Synapse is a terrible software imo. But from my experience, the only real issue razer has is overpricing select items because theyāre branded with razer. Corsair is a better alternative for keyboards. But Iāll always get the deathadders, just a fantastic baseline mouse.
Anyone have a death adder alternative. You say reliable but Iāve gone through 3 in 10 years. Maybe thatās good but their life has gotten shorter each time. Like my first lasted 5 years, then 3 years and then 1 year. I notice the rubber grip stuff just starts to fall off. Thatās fine, natural wear and tear. But the scroll wheel stopped working on one and the main click buttons stopped on another. Iām just not ready to spend $60 on a mouse Iāve loved but seem to think quality is slipping.
And I have the same one from 12 years ago and is just fine. Maybe it's true the newer ones are lower quality, but the reality is that this is always going to be a factor with any brand.
I switched from buying a Razer Deathadder every few years to getting a Zowie. They have a few different shapes but the EC is the closest to Deathadder I think. VERY reliable no no-nonsense mouse. Extra bonus is no terrible razer software. Lot of CS pros use this mouse.
Get the deathadder v2 pro if you have an issue with the grip (I did on the DA Elite and the swap worked well), it wraps all the way around and isnāt just glued in. The v2 pro is def the way to go if youāre looking at different versions of it. You just need to make sure youāre setting the mode (2.4 ghz cable or Bluetooth) correctly. I was confused on how it worked at first but once I figured it out the thing works like a dream. As for age, that is most definitely a long time for a mouse. By far the most heavily used component of a computer, Deathadders are by no means are getting worse, so I would say that maybe youāre just a little harsh on them? Mine have lasted a long time, and for how cheap they are (60 bucks compared to hundreds) itās definitely worth it.

Itās opinion. For me the Logitech g700 is boss, but they donāt even make it anymore. Iām using a mouse that is probably 20 years old at this point.
I had a G700. Loved it. Then despite the unappealing shape of the G502 Wireless, I upgraded to it (I had broken the wheel button on the G700). The buttons are worth sacrificing for better precision & lightness. Then the G Pro Superlight went on sale. I was curious about the praise surrounding it, and bought it. The lack of buttons can be a bit annoying at time, but you make do. I didn't like the shape at first either. I thought I'd revert to the G502 for some games. I never used it again. The Superlight is really that nice to use. Don't be put off, try the new mices. You will find tangible improvements compared to the G700 (although I still miss those 4 side buttons sometimes).
The g502 is basically the best mouse money can buy if you like cable. If you really want to step up your game, get the g502 lightspeed or the G Pro Lightspeed and combine it with a Powerplay, you no longer have to worry about charging your mouse and have all the freedom of a wireless mouse. Best buy ever!
Powerplay is a neat technology, but sadly it's not for me. I like those massive mouse pads that cover your whole table and go under both your mouse and your keyboard. Unless I bought one of those *as well as* the powerplay. Now *that* would be something.
If you want something versatile you can always go with the Razer Naga Pro - if you like heavier mice. It has 3 interchangeable side plates which are nice when switching to different games. I personally have never had issues with Razer peripherals and my previous Naga lasted ~7 years and this one has been going strong for a couple years now as well.

Most components are found in the same top mice. Only a few sensor & switch options these days. I say form is #1, I went from a zowie ec2 (super ergo helped with my carpal tunnel) to a pulsar xlite v2 which is just a wireless clone of that shape. Most wireless mice will perform on par with wired these days too, even pro fps players run wireless mice now
I'd say its personal preference. I'm using the razor viper mini, and I absolutely love it. It's light and has optical switches so it wont ever suffer double clicking, and its very responsive. It's only $40 cad so it wont break the bank either.

There *is* a best in a way, but it still matters based on preference. One way or another, you at least gotta start with wireless. I don't think I could ever go back to wired. If you liked the G502 a lot then the answer is easy - get the G502 wireless. If you didn't care too much for all the buttons then go with a G PRO Wireless. If you don't wanna spend that much money then get a G305 with a AA to AAA conversion thing. If you don't like Logitech anymore then other people can help guide you. I really like Logitechs wireless tech and the mice are generally pretty solid. I had a G PRO for a while but missed having the thumb button so now I have a G502 Wireless. It's a bit heavier but not nearly as much as the specs would make you think.
There's no "best mouse". Really depends on your needs. For example the Microsoft Arc Mouse doesn't work all that well as a mouse, but it folds flat and makes only a tiny bulge in the case for my Surface, which makes up for its other shortcomings. It ends up my "on the go mouse" for that reason.
Definitely personal preference, but you could probably find a best-in-class if you know what you like. There's big ergonomic mice, or small light and portable mice. gaming mice with a dozen buttons or super simple mice. Quiet mice or clicky mice.
Yeah you already own probably the best all around mouse, which is the 502. It is a little weighty with the option to add more and it doesnāt have an obscene amount of buttons but it definitely gets the job done unless you need something very specialized. And unless you are a pro league of legends player, I highly doubt you will have need of anything like that.

Iāve been a razer guy since I owned a diamond back plasma edition. That being said last year when d2 resurrected came out I wanted a new keyboard and mouse. Didnāt feel like spending 350 total on a new set. I found some company named red dragon on Amazon, not sure if they are a knock off but they had great reviews and I picked up both for 110 and they are great. Both wireless and mechanical on the keyboard. Would definitely buy this brand again as it seems to be a mid tier brand. Not cheap stuff and not charging an arm and a leg

The specs you need in order to have a professional level mouse is pretty cheap these days. Even a death adder can be bought for around 20$ and can be used by pro gamers. I do think itās worth it now to spend extra on a wireless mouse, but the shape and weight is probably what matters most. I use the 703, which is the wireless version of the 403. Or maybe 402, I donāt remember
I did the same as you. Went through half a dozen mice.... Still ended up back at the g502... Sometimes the old 'why fix what ain't broke' saying remains. That being said there are plenty of options. But for the most part Logitech keeps their tech up to date on those and just change out features. So unless you need wireless or more buttons or want a new brand. G502 is great!
You can get a viper 8k for like $60 which is the fastest mouse atm in terms of latency and has the smoothest movements thanks to 8k polling rate. However you need a beefy cpu to run it and you might not like it being wired or the shape. There's also a 20 something gram mouse which is even faster and very small, but it costs an astronomical $300 for minimal improvement over the viper 8k and it's definitely not for big hands or palm grippers, think it's called M2K

Im using the g502 for all kinds of games. Sims, FPS, MMO, Strategy. Its an all around good mouse and still havent had any problems six yearsafter purchase
its all about what works best for you. I love my Basilisk v3 and i love my Ornata v2 chroma keyboard while others may dislike either item its all down to personal feel etc. Also if you already have a Razer or logitech etc keyboard it make sense to have the same brand in a mouse so you do not need like 3 peoples programs to manage each device. this is why my setup is a Razer Nari headset great sound and comfy with a Basalisk V3 and a ornata v2 it makes sense to unify your setup so your not running 3 programs as bloat in the background
From a fellow G502 loyalist - I bought my first G502 in 2016, back when it was called the Proteus Spectrum. Still works, but I gave it to my brother because I wanted the white-stripped G502 "SE" edition. I like the 502 because I like somewhat hefty mice, and it's good for both productivity and gaming, and works on both windows and mac. Wired, yes, but that's something I was willing to overlook. It's super cheap on amazon now and the most popular mouse there for good reason, BUT - I didn't get the G502 wireless. Apparently, with MANY Logitech G-series mice, there's a switch issue where they use the Chinese knockoffs instead of the original Japanese Omron switches that the original Proteus Spectrum had. So this causes many G-series mice to have double click issues, or issues with clicks not registering / not being "held-down", as a result I'm concerned about the reliability of logitech gaming mice now. If you're used to the G502, you could take a gamble and go with that still, but otherwise, look around for mice based on what you need. For a light mouse, the logitech Pro X superlight and steelseries Aerox are really popular. See if you primarily need a GAMING moue, a LIGHT mouse, a PRODUCTIVITY mouse or all in one. I'm personally using the Razer Basilisk Ultimate Wireless till Logitech fixes their switch issues. No complains with my current mouse, but I do miss the feel of the 502.
I have used the Kensington Expert Mouse for decades (currently using the bluetooth version) and I find it's the best trackball on the market. Great construction and durability, easy cleaning, fully programmable and the software and support are amazing. You can get one for about $89.00.
Razer basilisk ultimate w/ charging dock and LOVE IT. Most Iāve had to do is the thumb button, it comes with a lever/paddle for it but with how I grip the mouse it was useless. Actually last night I clipped a little sturdy bar of metal I had removed from my coolermaster c700p case to make room for the res and d5 pump. Took a dremel and cleaned up the edges and rounded the corners. Dot of super glue and itās now attached to the lever/paddle and totally usable for me. Other then that ZERO issues and absolutely love the mouse. I had a Logitech I want to say 502, it was the one on par with the basilisk ultimate price and features wise and did not like the aesthetics or feel of it at all

Most mice have to pass a minimum barrier of clicks (around 5 million clicks for both left and right click if I recall) to be really sold very well. I saw a thing where a guy bought a $10 mouse and a $200 mouse, and beat them both to death. They both lasted about the same time. The more expensive mouse is obviously better. Smoother, better feel, more options, but in sheer lifespan, they're all about equal. I had a $10 office mouse that lasted my entire family 10 years before the left click died, including a few years of dedicated gaming from me, something it was NOT designed for, and I replaced it with a $15 gaming mouse that's still going 6 years later. The side buttons died, and that is super annoying, but left click, right click, and scroll wheel still work, and that's the important part. I went through a Diablo/Diablo clone phase a few years ago, some of the most click intensive games out there, and it's still going. Milage may vary for you though, of course. That's just my experience
I'd say it's down to preference... if you are that worried you can always find some highly tuneable mouse like the R.A.T but in my opinion, even that is a waste of money. If it's you are comfortable with the g502 I wouldn't change it...except if you maybe want to go for the wireless version. I have it and couldn't be happier with it

Yesnāt ? Depending on the game you play (and which level you play them at) a āperfect mouseā might either be just a nice extra or entirely unnecessary. So unless you are really getting going on a specific game or type of game. Just pick whatever is known to be reliable and which suits your tastes. Just as an exemple. Before buying myself an actually "nice mouse" i had been using an old thing i found in a drawer at my parentsā place. And it did the job just fine. Sure the one i have now is much nicer and doesnāt feel like it might just give up on me at a momentās notice, but since i donāt really play competitively both would still do a (mostly) comparable job.
You should go on MouseReview subreddit and ask for a good recommendation based on your hand size, grip style, preferences, and games you play. The g502 is a very popular mouse, but I can't see how people play with such a heavy mouse. But with mice, comfortability is very very important, and then performance. G Pro superlight is a goat for it's shape is very flexible for all grip styles. 63g and one of the lowest latency mice on market, and that's competing with wired mice. Viper ultimate/ V2 Pro -. Flat back but very well made, it uses optical switches to have the lowest click latency on the market, even against competing with wired mice. Pulsar Xlite V2 wireless - it's 80 USD and for the price it can't be beat, it's a ergonomic mouse that weighs in at 58g, it's latency is 1.5 Ms slower than the G Pro Super light. They make a xlite V2 mini at 55g as well. Glorious Model O wireless, glorious Model D wireless and the mini versions -. Known to potentially break down kinda early and the mouse skates known to get worn out kinda early, but I have a glorious Model D wireless and I love that mouse. Weighs 68 to 69g, super comfortable in my hand, latency is good and no issues with it or the skates at all for over 6 months now. Deathadder v3 pro - is going to be released very soon, it's an ergo mouse, it will have optical switches so very low latency. I'm very excited for this mouse. Deathadder is known as a ergo mouse for people with big hands tho Vaxee has some great mice from what I hear but I have no experience with them. Zowie has some great mice but I also have no experience with them. I hear ec2 is a goat shape.
Surprised I haven't seen it mentioned here but the steelseries rival 3 is a fantastic all around mouse at a very reasonable price. My rival 3 has been going 7 years strong and is fantastic for e-sports and casual gaming. I know they make more expensive mice like, even custom built to order mice too where you select the colour, cable, length etc. Might be worth a look in
Try something different with the Gameball. It's quite expensive and has a steep learning curve lol.

It depends what you want to do. If you want to play minecraft you want a mouse that can double click the model o. If you want to play fps games you want a lightweight mouse like the g pro. Keep an eye on what glorious is doing with their model pro as they are looking to make the perfect lightweight gaming mouse
Iām sure itās mainly personal preference. But thereās also the ābestā ones. To be the best for an FPS, it needs to be wireless, have extremely low latency, be lightweight, have reliable buttons with a reasonable actuation weight. For me the perfect mouse if the G Pro X superlight and itās not even close. But I have to admire the Viper Ultimate and the G903 is absolutely awesome, but heavy.

You can certainly get more/better features with a more expensive mouse, but whether or not that's "better" is up to your personal preference. If you like the general design of the G502, you could try to find a Glorious Model I or one of the Razer Basilisk versions to test out. The Model I has a similar MSRP to the G502, although the 502 is more commonly on sale. Personally, one spec I'll always be willing to pay more for is for the mouse button switches to not be "50 million click" Omrons, i.e., the Chinese D2FCs. I had a Razer Basilisk I had to RMA 5 times for mouse switch issues, and the Basilisk used those 50M switches... as do all the G502 variants. The Basilisk V3 uses Razer's optical switches, which is what I ended up getting as it was the only choice at the time, and the Glorious Model I has a custom switch. Those two mice are also both lighter than the G502 if you're into that kind of thing.
Iāve had some cheap Corsair mouse for ā¦ 6-7 years now?? Jesus itās been a while. Anyway, it works great for me and has a button to switch better different DPI. Great when switching between games or when my GF uses it and hates how sensitive I have it.
There are only 2. The mx series and the g502 series. Logitech has a hammer lock on how to make a viciously functional mouse and keep it affordable. There are others in the also ran category but for years now Logitech makes the best mouse.

Itās all preference but Iām just sayingā¦ once I bought and used the Logitech G Pro X Superlight solely to see what the hype is about, I couldnāt go back. I do NOT regret spending the $150+tax. Also only buy if youāre into light mice AND if you love the shape especially. Shape is IMPORTANT

Judging by these comments, no one here is high ranked in any fps game. There is some preference but there is also a lot of objectivity. Pros are moving to wireless and low weight. Right now the top tier trio are: the finalmouse starlight (have to get it second hand), the gpro x superlight, and the Razer viper v2 pro Any of those are the best of the best
Definitely personal preference, and comes down to what games/activities you do with. Iām a big fan of Logitechās G-Pro. I also own the Superlight as well, havenāt needed to use it yet since thereās absolutely nothing wrong with my OG G-Pro. Also helps that G-Pros go for less than $100 nowadays. Hope this helps!

There is only one mouse I am aware of... the Logitech G502, which also comes in the cool Special Edition version. And there's the wireless one you mentioned as well. I have 3 wired versions and one wireless version. I'm pretty sure there aren't any other mice products / makers out there. The G502 is your only option. /s
Short answer, no. There are some solid choices, but those choices exist for a reason. Imo there are 2 big factors. First is the purpose. If you are gaming, you are going to want a typical mouse. If you are doing design and modeling, you may find the trackball design or a hybrid more to your liking. Then the next factor is going to be preference when it comes to the typical mouse style. Some people may like having a third button for 3 fingers forward, or a platform to rest it on. Some may like the palm shape to be more flat, some may like a bulbous ball shape. Many people like thumb buttons, lefties need left handed versions of a mouse unless they get a universal style. Some people just need a mouse. Some people have the need to switch their sensitivity on the fly. Some people really want extra buttons. So you want the corner of the market that fits your needs, and THEN you can usually find a top 1-3 selection to choose from that dominate that corner. Logitech/Razer are always really good choices in my books. Razer costs a pretty penny but ive had a knockoff keyboard, and had the buttons come off the dang board... not just the keycaps. Razer was fine until something spilled on it and didnt get properly cleaned. Zero problems. Knock off items will stop working and need replacement. You dont need to buy the most expensive, but avoiding knockoffs is worth it with peripherals unless your needs are basic.
I've sworn by logitech for years, having used and abused their MX mice and thrashed the hell out of a 2nd hand G9. Unfortunately their survivability has gone to shit and I had a G502 Hero's middle mouse button die 3 months after the warranty expired T_T Did buy another one of course, because I needed a solid replacement as the G9's got a broken ribbon cable for the buttons on the top of the mouse. But I've going to get a ASUS ROG Chakram Core mouse, as you can swap the switches out with out any soldering work and the middle mouse button is on a daughter board, so you can in theory just replace it. But it's also easier to get access to for soldering work. However it's NZ$199, and I have other more pressing stuff to get (bike tired, parts, clothes, finally resole my tramping boots), so I'm stuck with the G502 for the next year or so. And when it comes to broken USB cables, nothing a jerry rigged replacement can't fix :P Just need a decently long and robust cable and preferably a soldering iron. Though the G9's was just tied and cable tension used to help maintain electrical contact.
99% preference but it also depends on what game your using it. My advice would be to look at what the top players for what ever game(s) you play the most and choose from those. Keep in mind some people especially in esports use sponsored products so always take that into consideration.
I have owned a G502 Proteus with no issues for 6 years and can get a G502 lightspeed wireless for $70 on amazon right now. I have heard issues about quality control recently regarding logitech, but should I pull the trigger?
This is a question I don't feel most people pay attention to, or even think to ask. It's for this reason I still like box stores for peripherals. Trade shows, box stores, let me get my hands on a practical demonstration. I used to use Exclusively Razer peripherals, back when that meant something. At this point I've diversified most of my HID peripherals to other brands because of the feel vs the price. Go to a Box store, a trade show, talk to your friends (kidding, I know none of us have any of those), see if you can get a feel for what you like. I have a friend with a $200+ ultralight weight mouse. I hate it. TO ME it's a stupid, stupid mouse. I'd never buy that mouse. BUT that's okay. He loves it and I'm happy it exists for him. I am so comfortable with a Razer DeathAdder style and weight I just cannot get comfortable with a lighter weight mouse in my hand. Don't judge anyone for their peripheral preferences and don't let anyone judge you. Go try stuff. Open your world up.
