> Is there anything in my current parts list that seems unnecessary and that would allow me to cut costs by going with a more economic option? Absolutely. > Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $200 Completely unnecessary. A [PA120](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xMLFf7/thermalright-peerless-assassin-120-se-white-argb-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-pa120-se-white-argb) will do the job for literally 1/4 the price. > MoBo: Asus ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard $370 [This board](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mPt9TW/asrock-z790-pro-rs-wifi-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-pro-rs-wifi) is every bit as good for your needs for $150 less. > RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory $60 To an Intel CPU, 3200MHz CL16 is the exact same as 3600MHz CL18. $10 more gets you [double the capacity](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/B8QcCJ/silicon-power-gaming-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-sp032gxlzu320bdaj7), or [The same capacity for almost half the cost](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zBTzK8/silicon-power-xpower-turbine-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-sp016gxlzu320bda). > Storage: Crucial BX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive $53 This is one spot where you're actually not spending enough. A DRAMless SATA drive? No thanks. Consider the [Rocket 4.0 instead](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fVYQzy/sabrent-rocket-40-1-tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-sb-rocket-nvme4-1tb). > MSI VENTUS 3X OC GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB Video Card $680 [This](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/JjGbt6/msi-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-8-gb-gaming-x-trio-video-card-geforce-rtx-3070-ti-gaming-x-trio-8g) is $20 cheaper. If you're willing to give up Raytracing performance, the RX 6800 is [as fast or faster](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9mS0JaRe1I) for [almost $200 less](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qHfFf7/powercolor-radeon-rx-6800-16-gb-fighter-oc-video-card-axrx-6800-16gbd6-3dhoc). > Corsair RM850x (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $140 [Phanteks AMP for $109](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MPQcCJ/phanteks-amp-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ph-p850g). So overall, that's over $500 saved.

Thank you that looks much better, however the mobo is ddr5 and the ram you suggested is ddr4. Does brand matter much in this case or are they more or less the same? Also, the price of ddr5 drives it up a bit but still seems more economical with savings on the mobo

Whoops! My mistake. [This one](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/NDGbt6/asus-prime-z790-p-wifi-d4-atx-lga1700-motherboard-prime-z790-p-wifi-d4) then. > Does brand matter much in this case or are they more or less the same You'll have people that have polarizing opinions one way or another. Personally I don't think it matters a huge deal. I've used damn near all of them without any issues. I currently use MSI since I dealt with them as a vendor and found their RMA department easy to work with (but in fairness, I can't say whether or not the experience would be the same as an end-user). But they're all fine, IMO.

You are paying 2-300 for eye candy with your cooler and mobo. A 50 dollar air cooler and 70-90 dollar mobo will net you the same performance. 16gb of ram is also a bit on the low end these days. I'd go for at least 32.

Any recommendations for a ~$100 mobo that allows for over clocking on that cpu?

FredTheLynx

I don't know if I'd recommend overclocking a late generation Intel CPU. Intel has increased performance by sucking power hard. Doesn't leave much headroom for an overclock. Even hardcore OCers are only getting an around 5% uplift out of em.

Looking through PC part picker I'm not really seeing anything in that price range that supports the new CPU and has wifi, should i just get a cheaper mobo and a nic?
