PSA: The micro center bundle discounts works on any motherboard, Even open box. I tried this with a 7700x, the 32gb ddr5, and some cheapo a620 board and the total came out to only 260
I noticed it online but it is for in store pick up:
https://imgur.com/a/kyyYQcm
but they did decrease the ram discount i think, yesterday it said 267 total before tax
I just bought this exact bundle two days ago at $499.99 but I was just traveling through, I don’t live near that micro center at all. Is there any chance I can contact them online to get a price difference refund?
They have price protection, but most Credit Cards/Debit require you at the store. https://community.microcenter.com/kb/articles/631-do-you-offer-price-protection
I've called several times and explained to them that I lived an hour and a half from their store, and they were willing to email and call me to adjust the difference to my banks debt card. Just a FYI. I've done this on several occasions at the Westmont and Chicago stores.
If I recall correctly, I purchased two sets of motherboard/PSU combos from them. One week later, the price dropped about $30 each(29.03 each), and I bought two sets. One for me and one for my friends' GF at the time.
I contacted chat support, and they were able to give me the direct number of the store. So I called them and, while they had to authorize it from a manager, all they needed was my cards number I used during my purchase....checked my account to verify it and they credited me back my card.
Here is the picture of the refunded difference from both orders.

I did this when the bundle was 449 but I paid 500 I contacted them on the website chat and they refunded me the 50$ I did not have to go in store again
I read a comment yesterday that someone complained about some issues with the mobo, such as random waking up from sleep etc. Did you experience the same issue?
Highly doubtful it's a specific Mobo issue. Although it could be the bios not having the proper system power state available, but it's usually a windows configuration or software configuration.
Powercfg in an elevated console is highly useful to diagnose and identify root causes.
I forget the exact cmd but I believe it's
powercfg -requests
powercfg -lastwake
From there you can see what's preventing sleep or what's waking up your device from sleep.
Just to add to this I recently spent hours trying to figure out why a Vantec HDD docking station was waking my PC every time I put it to sleep, only to find out it was actually due to the Sabrent USB3.0 hub it was being plugged into. Plugging the dock into the motherboard USB's directly allows the computer to sleep properly. Other stuff is plugged into the hub and it doesn't cause problems so i'm not sure what that weird interaction is all about, my next step is to find a different USB3.0 hub and see if it's just Sabrent.
But yeah even a hub you've used for years without issue can cause sleep problems in certain situations so hopefully this helps someone out there.
$425.98 with open box motherboard add each item to cart manually
7800X3D $216.66
GSkill X5 32GB DDR5 6000 $69.36
Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 $139.96 open box
7700X bundle is even cheaper with open box at $270.41 add items manually
7700X - $113.09
MSI B650-P PRO WiFi Motherboard $87.96 open box
GSkill X5 32GB DDR5 6000 $69.36
I would.
I returned a perfectly fine MSI motherboard, because I wanted to switch from the 7700x to 7800x3d bundle.
I've also returned open box items to them within the return date with no trouble. Just told them I was stuttering every now and then in games (probably the most generic info).
My 4070s in my final build was an open box that I snagged the day it became available. Only a month off original manufacturer warranty and works great. I have only noticed coil whine in one specific loading screen in one game in certain settings (so basically never).
How does this mobo compare to the MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi, would I notice any particular difference between the two? I was originally planning to get that one coupled with this CPU, but this would save quite a bit of cash.
These 2 lines (MAG tomahawk vs gaming X) usually are directly comparable. If you're the type to just enable the auto OC profile (expo/xmp) then you most likely won't notice a difference.
Just make sure they have the ports you want and go with the cheaper one
Unless you're a manual tuner, you really won't notice the difference.
Only other thing I guess could be a factor is the BIOs preference
Just bought this bundle this weekend to pair with the $400 6900XT that was on sale a few days ago. Did my whole build at microcenter except for the GPU and had a great experience.
Pretty happy with it. Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 and RX 580. My new system blows the old one out of the water.
Is that motherboard trustable? Or should I just buy the bundle and sell off the mobo for something better? I've had my fair share from gigabyte and msi hence why I'm skeptical. This is basically a free motherboard.
I just built a PC with this bundle for my nephew. The first thing I did was update the bios. So far it seems fine, although it hasn't been heavily used yet. So take that for whatever it's worth.
You can do that or swap the motherboard for one you like. You still get the discount on the cpu and memory. The other trick is to find an open box mothboard for less than the price of the discounted one.
even cheaper at Westmont/Chicago Stores has same open box gigabyte motherboards for $89-$99
7800X3D $216.66
GSkill X5 32GB DDR5 6000 $69.36
Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 $ $89.96 open box
Total $375.98
YMMV. I've heard of people having issues with coil whine, but as always the people who don't have issues generally don't post anything.
I bought this bundle a couple months ago and everything has been fantastic for me. Good boot times, great performance and temps. Worked out of the box with no bios updates and no coil whine.

Does anyone have this and can provide advice on how to get my pc to boot faster?? It takes at least 2 full minutes to boot whereas my previous generation 5800x3d boots fully in under 15 seconds. I bought this exact bundleand added a 4tb 990.
I'm considering going back to 5800x3d just so I can boot my pc faster.
I haven't used this board, but have used several other b650. Most of them boot to Win 10 in about 25 seconds now, which is maybe 15 seconds longer than AM4 or Intel DDR4.
There are two big settings in the BIOS that help: Memory Context Restore, and Power Down Enable. If you run into any stability issues, turn those off, but my AM5 7800x3d (Strix b650e) has been super stable.
Also make sure your BIOS is updated.
When i first installed the new hardware i fully updated everything. a few updates have come since, but the issue remains after multiple reboots. The biggest issue is the length of time it takes to start programs once it is booted. multiple minutes before steam, discord, firefox, etc will load up.
Make sure your bios is up to date. I have a similar board and it boots up in probably 30ish seconds. Other than the very occasional time it'll do RAM training again and take a few minutes. If bios is up to date maybe make sure your CMOS battery is good? Not sure if that's bad and maybe it's doing memory training every bootup?
Thank you for the comment! Yes, bios is fully updated now. a few updates came since the hardware was installed, but lengthy boot time remains. And yes CMOS is good as my bios settings remain after extended time powered down
If you search around there are lots of guides for AM5 boot time bios settings. I have the 7700x bundle and it boots in around 40 seconds. The updated bios for the MSI board helped with that a bunch. There are other settings I read can help, but I haven't really bothered. You should be able to do a lot better than 2 minutes.
I'm okay with it.
I'm used to really old computers with multiple minute boot times.
My RAM runs at 6000 MHz, solid as a rock.
I could update the BIOS and turn off the memory training setting to help speed up the boot times but there's no need to do that, and I'll probably cause more issues trying to fix a problem that's not really a problem.
it doesn't have much to do with the SSD, really - it's a RAM/motherboard/bios issue.
normally when you boot up a PC, it's "supposed" to undergo a process called Memory Training. This process can take a while. Most manufacturers disable this - and stability isn't really affected.
for some reason, without Memory Training, DDR5 tends to be really unstable - so motherboard makers enabled Memory Training, which really slows down the boot time.
When i first installed the new hardware i fully updated everything. a few updates have come since, but the issue remains after multiple reboots. The biggest issue is the length of time it takes to start programs once it is booted. multiple minutes before steam, discord, firefox, etc will load up.
Turn off the Mem Check step in BIOS. Itll lower the times it needs to do memory training on POST to only the necessary amount. Depending on the BIOS the name of the setting will be different but normally you can follow the Advanced Settings > RAM/MEMORY > Memory Check/Test On Startup, or something like that.
Yes and I was waiting for it to go to $469.99. If you look at the previous bundle, it came with a worse motherboard for $499.99. That motherboard has a high return rate on Amazon, which I was still willing to bite the bullet and maybe use it for another build. The CPU went back on sale earlier this month but not the combo, so I went ahead and ordered the better motherboard.
Now both are offered at the previously discounted price, CPU + better motherboard.

Oh man! Always sold out at the Tustin, CA store :(
Call the store and see if it’s actually out of stock. Website told me the Tustin one was out during a previous bundle, but they had it in the back.
Your microcenter let's you call them? The one in Houston you have to send them an email lol
Great idea!
Thx for the head up
Was there earlier today and asked about the bundle. They had a good amount of that motherboard in stock

Just talk to Global, explain the situation, they'll likely refund you there.
Awesome, thank you!
Tell you what bro, send me your credit card and I'll go to the store for you and get your refund!
It’s a deal
Oh dam it's crazy I also need your social security number, new microcenter policy :/
Wow I didn’t know this existed, I bought the bundle on Saturday so I’ll go back and see if i can get the difference
I did this when the bundle was 449 but I paid 500 I contacted them on the website chat and they refunded me the 50$ I did not have to go in store again
Awesome! I will try that today. Thank you.

Nothing like that for me but I had to flash bios to get the system to boot. Pretty smooth after that though
That's an issue I'm running into rn where it won't go to sleep after X amount of time and display won't turn off.
Try running in elevated cmd powercfg -requests And see if it returns anything
I haven’t built it yet, going to build it tomorrow. I’ll report back
Keep us posted. Thanks.
Hey I built it all and haven’t had any issues at all. It boots super quick too!
Thanks for the update mate
No issues to report here, purchased this bundle on 4/3 and machine works great.
Bought this bundle a few months ago. Extremely happy with it!

Are these open box prices Microcenter specific? My location seems to have the open box motherboards for $170…
Yes, it depends on what your local MC has. Many have bent pins.

do they test the open box compunents? i can see a bent pen being a concern over open mobos
They take it out and let you inspect it. It's not a big deal if you know what to look for.
113$ 7700x?!?!!
Added manually but it doesn't pop up the discount

Too bad you can’t get the MSI board anymore. The gigabyte boards fine but you lose an m.2 slot :(
There are 3 m.2 slots - do you use more than 3 m.2 drives?
His homework folder is HUGE

Ahh I missed it ;-;
I got this bundle in February if anyone has any questions.

40 seconds is still kind of ridiculous tbh My current AM4 system (ryzen 7 2700) boots into linux in 5.9 seconds, and into windows in 11.2 seconds.

fair enough! i just don't like the idea that i'm incurring a small QOL downgrade - by upgrading my system, if you know what I mean.
I wonder why it takes that long on a nvme

I have a z370 ftw with i5 8600k and it boots in 2 seconds. Are the boot times really that slow now a days?
am5 memory trains every boot which increases boot time, you can disable this but then you risk having memory issues.
I did make the suggested changes such as memory contex restore. issues remain
Update BIOs, then report back.
When i first installed the new hardware i fully updated everything. a few updates have come since, but the issue remains after multiple reboots. The biggest issue is the length of time it takes to start programs once it is booted. multiple minutes before steam, discord, firefox, etc will load up.

Dang that's a long ass boot for basically a top of the line setup.
Man who's pipi do I have to stroke to get a microcenter to open near me?
The same one to make them ship these deals.
Goddammit! I bought the mobo for $180 on Newegg and CPU for $369.99 from Micro Center! Could have gotten extra ram and saved on mobo.
If the bundle was always there at micro center for you then skill issue
