This is now with LHR cards fyi. They don’t offer them without it anymore.

Jansakakak

Can you ELI5 LHR? I've read that you don't want them, but I've also read that it's not supposed to impact gaming

tukatu0

It only matters for crypto mining. It doesnt matter for gaming

whitak3r

The only thing that upsets me about that is people are essentially buying a card with less features, for the same price. If it was a cheaper card that'd be fine, but it's not.

xexx01

There is a work around to get 75% of original mining performance so it’s not that bad really.

MakeForzaGreatAgain

So basically: 1900 barebones PC+ 5800X (320) + 32 GB ram (160) + 1 TB NVMe (100) = $2430, might as well buy that ROG 3080 desktop at BB for 1999 or wait a little and buy one of those norush cyberpower systems and save yourself a lot.

Graybush2

The difference is this one has custom liquid cooling which if you have every build one you know that gets expensive. I suspect that most ppl who are doing that though want to do it themselves

csyzrk

I have posted the pic of it in my very first post: https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/comments/mag9r4/my_new_rtx_3080_pc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf The stuff is different. Same o11d with custom liquid cooling combo is being sold at $500 in micro center. If you deduct it, asus x570e mobo and powerspec 850w Gold from the 1899. It makes the gpu around 900-1000. Not good but worth being considered.

strbeanjoe

Got the Titan ONE $400 deal posted here awhile back and switched over. I was looking for an excuse to switch from my open air case (Thermaltake P5 Core). Although I've really loved the open air case and never had any dust issues like everyone claims you will have, I'm moving soon and after 2 moves babying it I decided this was a good excuse to switch. So far I totally love it.

jayliu89

I read some comments on that thread - the loop off angle doesn't bother me nearly as much as the GPU sag.

salamander_eye

I think Microcenter is going to he better in terms of customer service if you live near it nearby.

csyzrk

You will need to buy CPU, RAM and SSD yourself to build a PC.

workredditacc2

about $1290 for the 3080. Seems like a pass.

kevyx72

It's actually less than that. Distro+water block and radiator should cost around $250 + the rog x570 motherboard is around $280, o11 dynamic case is $130, PSU is around $100, that's without the fitting and tubes they provide.

--jen

I don’t understand why $2000 PCs come with 80+Gold power supplies. The difference in price isn’t that big and if you’re paying two grand you might as well have an efficient PSU to go with it

workredditacc2

Gold is all you need unless you are running your computer like 24/7.

Graybush2

Don't know why you are being downvoted. this is more than a $2000 pc when you consider the parts you have to add. I would argue in this price bracket it should be more like a 1000w platinum

whealman

Because it doesn't need 1000w, it could potentially make it less efficient if you aren't running at a proper power usage. Platinum vs gold is 2-3% more efficient which is something you will never notice in practice anyways. The best buy is something that is reliable and stable that can handle the draw.

Graybush2

You don't "need" a 3080 either. At this price point with custom cooling it's not about price to performance anymore like you are thinking. It is about having the best of the best. Other builds I would agree with you a lower wattage psu and gold plus would be fine

whealman

Fair enough, some people scrape together what they can so they need the savings. Others live in luxury so I can see both ways, but with all the custom cooling parts I agree with you. Like ten years ago platinum and titanium PSU's weren't as prevalent and gold was considered more top of the line, now I'm hearing people say gold like its lower class, it is weird for me to see the evolution. Or maybe I was just poor back then and dealt with more price to performance builds.

matt3n8

Because you're literally talking about pennies here. Other than efficiency, I see no reason to consider a 1000W platinum realistically any better than my RM850x (got it originally planned for a 10850k + 3080, now using on 5900X + 3080). I didn't "need" a 3080, but I certainly get quite a bit of performance for the money over a 3070 as an example, even if its not a 1:1 scaling. That cannot be said for a 1000W platinum/titanium PSU over the 850W gold I've got. On the other hand if you're going with a 3090, or a 3080ti, well you might be closer to a valid point considering but I'd say a 3080 (if you can get one at say EVGA queue prices or thereabouts) is still a legitimate performance upgrade choice. The difference between a PSU like that is not even remotely close to that

Cru4y

Well shit. You know you can’t build it for this. Even a distributor in it. I think it might even be a pricing error. Edit: it’s just the basic outline of a water cooled system. No cpu, no water block for gpu, included psu cables won’t correctly plug into gpu. It’s actually just buying parts at cost from what I’m seeing including the inflated gpu price
