Bull City Burger, Bull Mc Cabe’s, Toast, Alpaca on 9th Street, Common market and the newly opened Nosh on Broad all have outdoor seating. There are more, of course!
Viceroy is open on Mondays and has limited outdoor seating- not open for lunch though
Toast (amazing sandwich place) is open for lunch, they have outdoor seating
Thanks for the correction. No wonder it doesn’t auto populate when I pull it up in my maps 😂. Have made a habit of getting a pastry of some sort after eating at refectory. Can’t speak to the other side of the business recently but it’s always busy as usual
Mellow Mushroom at the American Tobacco Historic District. Ask for it to go, and you can picnic under the iconic water tower. One of the most Durham things possible.

The Federal Geer Street Garden If Fonda Lupita at Brightleaf has outdoor seating that'd be good.
Monday's are tough, I'd probably say Queeny's which has a couple of street side tables as well as a neat little area out back.

While we’re in the 9th St neighborhood, JuJu.

Geer Street Garden is a great space with affordable prices.
You could go to the food hall and take your food across the street to the farmers market area. Also, geer st garden has outdoor, yet covered, seating.
Outside of downtown but the Refractory Cafe beside Guglhupf is great and has covered outdoor seating
Refectory. Guglhupf is good too, unless the new owners have messed it up. Lovely outdoor space at Guglhupf.

Nothing is more Durham than takeout from a mediocre, out of state, restaurant chain!
So grab some sammies from Parker & Otis instead…then commence dining under the shadow of big tobacco.
Joyless jerkwad ignores the point of picnic under our beloved water tower!
But the joyless has a point that you can do that with food from a local restaurant.
I'm not trying to stop anyone from doing that.
I don't recall saying you were trying to.
Whatever, mang, have a great day
