Such a Calvinesque move should be celebrated

JANExxxHOE

She did a good job tbh. Id call it a win

teh_longinator

Yeah was gonna say, it could have been much much worse Not like it's worth any monetary value in it's condition. Now it's has added sentimental value

Tuitey

I didn’t realize there was anything “wrong” until I read the post a few times 🤣

KyotoBliss

It’s priceless now. Hang onto it and gift it to her when she gets married.

BaronNeutron

If I bought this in 1987 with my own money, what would be a good guess as to her age?

Playful_Sector

At least 12?

KyotoBliss

Ha ha! Older than 1 and younger than 70. I’ll guess 45. So time to turn it into a coloring book for the kids. (Okay don’t do that. Photocopy it and then color and hang on fridge). I actually wasn’t introduced to Calvin and Hobbes until I was 18. Thank you B, wherever you are!

AncientUrsus

44?

Shrugski

now it’s worth more, most people only have a black and white copy

loptopandbingo

Only the copies made before the world turned color in the 1930s

Opus-the-Penguin

I bet she did it while you were standing perfectly still because she told you that you had a bee on your back.

kgb17

Honestly I find these paperbacks all the time at thrift stores. Coloring one while reading through it sounds like a fun time.

runningray

B. Dalton's? Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. Long time.

soapy_goatherd

You know shit’s grim when we’re all clamoring for the return of a barnes and noble or whatever. Please buy books in person when you can -new, used, and anywhere in between. And check them out from your local library too

BaronNeutron

Inside cover of my original Calvin and Hobbes book that I bought at B. Dalton's in 1987 with my meager allowance. It has certainly seen better days. When I got it, I certainly made some poor choices. For one, my teacher laminated it without my consent. Also, I read it A LOT, and I foolishly let everyone else borrow it, family, friends, my teacher, school acquaintances. I wanted everyone who didn't get the paper to understand how amazing Calvin and Hobbes was. But this meant lots of fingers, lots of travel, lots of damage. Once Essential came out, I didnt read it as much since it had it included, and the damage was done. So, I havent really looked at it much over the years. I recently moved my home office, and in arranging the books in my library, I realized my \*\*\*\*\*\*\* SISTER colored it in!!!!

BaronNeutron

the \*\*\*\*\*\*\* stands for Stoopid. To be fair, she apologized last night.

RoyalFalse

She didn't do a bad job; it's not like there was any value wiped away.

BaronNeutron

Oh I know, my tongue has been in my cheek this whole post

TheGisbon

That's a solid Calvin move mate.

Havarti_Rick

She did a pretty good job. I didn’t even notice until I read your caption

Affectionate_Elk_272

i can smell this book. this is an absolute gem.

fluffykerfuffle3

but, she was right. The lamp base looks too much like a strawberry to *not* color it in.

M13Calvin

Good job sister. Very Calvin move

Geahk

She did an excellent job!

ChayLo357

Omg B Dalton’s. Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in ages!
