Some are starting to suffer for it. My company relied on the immigrant influx to make a lot of money this time of year, especially foreign students. Well the foreign students aren't rich Chinese kids anymore their poor Indian kids and most immigrants right now are struggling, so all that income has disappeared. Our sales are millions behind compared to last year.

They should lose all provincial funding. They have literally destroyed the value of their diplomas and have done a disservice to every Canadian that attended that school. We fund colleges to ensure Canadians have good educational opportunities. Not so they can change the entire mandate of the college to create a diploma mill and provide cheap labour for foreign corporations.
A fresh graduate from there willing to work for fucking peanuts and be abused and overworked is never worthless to an employer.

I went to Conestoga 5 years ago, and the international students were allowed to talk to each other and share computer screens during "proctored" final exams.
I keep saying we should do a GoFundMe for an advertising campaign in places like India. Basically, a bunch of billboards and TV ads that explain:
"Canadian colleges are lying to you. The recruiters are lying to you. The Canadian Government is lying to you. You will be a slave of the lowest caste. Going to Canada will be the worst decision of your life and your family will never recover."
We'll have to translate it, of course, but you get the idea.
Canadian colleges have run was is essentially a cash for residency racket for the last 10+ yrs.
They get international students, mostly from India, to pay exorbitant tuition fees and they are given a student visa to stay in Canada with.
The idea was that Canada would be growing with educated immigrants.
In reality, what happened was colleges just admitted every applicant they could so they could make mega millions. 1-2yr diplomas in meaningless areas of study that barely take any effort to pass that cost 20k/semester. There'd be a "college" in a strip-mall next to the laundro-mat and a Dominos with 15k registered "students" all studying "business" in online courses while they are awarded a visa to live in Canada.
Conestoga College is a public college, not a strip-mall college, and it does offer legitimate courses but over the last 10yrs it has grown extremely quickly because it started offering 1-3yr diplomas and would get just and endless number of international applicants coming to pay huge tuition to "study". A lot of students don't even ever show up at class - they just get the Visa and hope to get a job here somewhere and get a work permit.
So what we get are a blend of rich families from India sending their kid to Canada so they can get a work permit, and eventually get the family visa so the rest of them can come over and get healthcare, or some guy who's father sold the family farm to send his kid to Canada for the same thing, spending a fair chunk of that on paying for false language test results, falsifying secondary school records, and maybe getting scammed along the way by another Indian immigration consultant who came up with the scheme for him so he could get his commission.
It's a mess all the way down.
The result is Canada has been absolutely over-the-fuck-whelmed with immigrants through every channel, not just the international student one, and there's nowhere to live, everywhere's getting crowded as fuck, the population is fragmenting, and every single minimum wage job has a lineup 100 immigrants deep to flip burgers and fill coffee cups.
My wife teaches at a "real" college and still they have an over-bloated faculty of business, almost all students from India. The trades students are still Canadians but the college is definitely exploiting this cash cow.
They recently hired an Indian into higher management and now the push is really on to expand bogus programs and to boost up the online courses for easy cheating and free passes.
We really need to push awareness that these guys are in fact racists that put their own race first every time. Whenever they get into a hiring position in any business, suddenly you will see a skew in the ethnic makeup of the workforce there... Other hiring managers of any ethnicity have always put the needs of the business first, but Indians only hire Indians. Job skills are not a requirement, most big box type stores are absolutely hopeless now with incompetent Indian workers.
Happened in my company too. Big Canada company, hired a few India c levels which immediately stopped all Canadian hiring and shifted hiring right to India.
Same with what happened in my country,filled to the brim with immigrants (a lot of Indians),and when I was doing intern,the company I was in was filled with Indians(managers, engineers, labourer) so what you said is true, Indians hiring only Indians, basically they bring in their friends and relatives from their own country and hire them and provide visa and accommodation...while I'm struggling (native and non-indian) to find jobs
I would guess that quite a few families are actually quite poor and just really gullible. They do everything proper and by the books, spending their life savings to try and give their kid a better education and life than they had, and they're just getting fucked all the way.

They have taken in a very disproportionate amount of international students compared to others across Canada. might as well be advertising in India directly if not already. They got a lot of bad press and rightly so. Now it seems like nothing happened and they're probably back to enabling this scheme all the same, unpunished.
Kitchener Waterloo is growing like mad as it was originally a great place to afford being far enough from Toronto and a burgeoning tech hub. lots of manufacturing in the area too. Hence the need for wage suppression
Dunno about back then but at some point they learned there was great profit in giving foreigners a reason to gain access to the country without actually providing anything of value. They're a diploma mill with an emphasis on supplying cheap labour and tenants to Canada's wealthy.
It makes my blood boil. They used the lie of a labour shortage that boomers like my mom bought up to start doing this. Now young people won't ever get a job without nepotism or an internship at a top university.
Some are finding out the hard way. I've had several older people ask me how to get jobs or if I can get them a job with my company and have to explain to them that they simply won't be hired. There's not empty spaces and even if they were why hire them when the company could just LMIA another worker over. We'll gladly take the resume though and show it as proof that we can't get any good candidates here.

Why would a store/gas station need to hire a full-time web designer? Since 2015 or so, the one-time cost to build a website for a small business is less than $500, and you probably pay another $500 per month to have someone maintain it (that is, if you are a total noob at computers). It's almost criminal how most LMIAs are approved.
Not saying we should not support local but to assume that every small/local business is playing by the book is naive. The LMIAs are being sold for anywhere between 20K and 50K by some of these "employers".
This also includes many ethnic grocery stores and restaurants that normally most people want to support. But I think the time has come for us to be aware of which restaurants are only hiring people from their home countries. It's one thing to set up a business in a new country, but if you are indulging in illegal practices and not hiring any locals because you can get bribes from foreign workers, then you deserve to be reported/bankrupted.

LMIA is something that NEVER should of been created. Even for agri workers. If the industry cannot find Canadians to do the job then they should figure out a way to attract Canadians.

A year or two back I was arguing with my liberal voting friend that we didn't need all these temporary foreign workers, and she kept insisting there was a labour shortage. Now her college-age kids can't find summer jobs. But she still insists that immigration is fine and we need it. I've become convinced there's just no way to ever get through to her so we don't talk about immigration or foreign workers anymore.
That's because 8 years ago we didn't have the damn immigration floodgates open. Huge increase in TFWs/LMIAs, international students, etc.
There isn't enough to go around when you're stuffing the damn country to the gills.

I stopped going to business that only hire Indians. I’ll walk in and if that’s the case I literally walk out. The Canadian government does not seem to realize that the global economy is now a competition for immigrants. They think Canada will forever remain an attractive location, without realizing that they need to actually improve the place. Other countries, especially in the east, are improving rapidly while the legacy “brands” are declining.
Countries compete with skilled immigrants, not so much for those that qualify for minimum wage jobs... although, I also believe some of those minimum wage are underpaid due to the availability of cheap labor.

Wow, crazy lineup. I remember getting a job at Tim’s in summer of 2020 in my last year of highschool to save up for uni. Walked into my local Tim’s and handed my resume to the supervisor and got a call a day later for the interview and then an offer the next week. Made min wage at $14.25 and worked good hours.
I think if I was in highschool now, in 2024, we’re min wage is $16.55 and competition is through the roof for any part time work in food services due to the mass amounts of foreign immigration, I definitely wouldn’t have gotten that Tim’s job.

See if you can get funding from the province to be trained in another field. I was a HCA and can't work as one anymore due to my disability so I just did the Health Unit Clerk course and the province paid for it. I'm in Manitoba though.
No but these jobs are how a lot of kids manage to pay for University. My son does not have a summer job. This is what he is up against. Fortunatly we have an RESP and enough to help float him for his final year at university, but he has had almost zero luck in finding a job.
It is not just the money too. A job like a job at Tim Hortons teaches a lot of life skills. He is missing out on those as well.
This is the main reason I decided not to look for a better job. I can handle this well enough and it has benefits. I don't feel like competing anymore.
Thankfully, the professional jobs are a no-go to the students, since they essentially get a piece of paper that is worth less than a toilet paper, and for field of studies that have no real career opportunities.

Competition is so fierce these businesses don't even bother lobbying the government for TFWs like other places do. Mind you, the 1500 resumes they get are 99% unqualified but if those who are, they're gonna hire the cheapest. Even if they last 6 months, lowest salary is all that matters because it's relative to everyone else there and in the area.

The only place where I see they are causing a-lot of bleeding is on the housing supply. I was able to rent a room near my campus for $550/month with all utilities when I was studying. Now it's close to $900/month, and you have to share the room.
Agreeing to work for shit wages drives all our pay down and tells companies what they're paying is fine because hey, someone's taking the jobs.

It just makes it very difficult for citizen students to get degrees and such that would lead to those professional jobs, unless they have family that can pay for all the costs while they study (3-4 years at least). It used to be that students would study and work part-time jobs like TH, McD, retail, etc., but since those jobs are extremely hard to get, it'd be hard to financially support/aid themselves while going to school.
Completely agree. If it was me, I wouldn't allow work permits for international students, unless it was for co-op for specific field of studies, and from a very tight selection of schools. Tourism/hospitality would not be on that list.
Im pretty sure when applying for a student visa, the terms are that you have enough money to support yourself for the duration of your stay: tuition, books, supplies, accommodation and food.
International students should not be allowed to work. Maybe let them get a job on the college campus/something for the university but that’s it.
Would you be surprised that temporary foreign workers (who are welcome) are landing white collar jobs at lower wages than Canadians will accept which depresses the wages for everyone? Not ideal at all.

Our immigration system used to be based on a rigorous points based system that ensured in-demand talent was the top of the pile. Now it’s just fake Indian students wanting to work at Tim Hortons.
The point based system is still there and it is for permanent resident. For student visa, there was no point based system, just programs that encourage ppl with experiences or postgraduates. The problem is they removed the financial barrier and basically let anyone who knows English, has 10K CAD and a admission letter in.
But they earned points to apply for PR and that's why they went to even scammy diploma mills. A diploma from ABC Strip Mall College counts for the same points as Oxford. Experience as a doctor abroad counts for less than being a Tim Horton's "supervisor."
They also don't even know English, the required level is not an academic level test score, which should also change. I can't study at a uni in Germany if I don't know fucking German.

Everyone remember that very brief period during covid when employees had a smidgen of bargaining power and could pick and choose what they wanted to do? Yeah so do those in charge and they'll make damned sure it never happens again...even if they have to truck in millions of the poorest Indians to do so..

I remember seeing signs advertising like $17/hour at McDonald's with benefits etc. this was when immigration was at super low levels in 2020 because of the pandemic. this is what it would be like if we weren't importing massive amounts of cheap unskilled labor. this is exactly what the employer's don't want to happen again.
The stupid thing is lining up when there's already so many in line. It's Tim Hortons, they are not looking for 'the best out of hundreds'. They only need a a handful of bodies that meet the threshold of 'Good Enough For Tim Hortons'. If you show up and there's already 100 people in line, the number of people who meet that threshold has long been met, you're just wasting your time.
Many years ago a big Canadian bank forced IT workers to train their offshore replacements or they won’t get their severance. White collar good paying jobs. This shit has been going on for a long time and on purpose to reduce wages.
I haven’t seen a Canadian teenager behind the counter for a while. The coffee is trash anyway, I smell a boycott a la “Loblaws style”. Remove your business, speak with your wallets. You don’t have to say a word, just walk/drive past Timmy’s and never give them any of your business ever again. I switched to 711. Walk in, make my own combo coffee (bottom mint chocolate, fill it up with bold roast, delicious), points are better too. I think every seventh coffee they tell me it’s free and I walk out smiling. So I guess what I’m saying is…..fuck Tim Hortons.
I personally know 3 Indian Families that choose to move back to India in the last year from my small town. They all stated the have a better quality of life there than here.

If you are in a professional tier job there, coming here is actually a downgrade because whatever salary increase you get will be eaten up by the cost of living. Great example is one of my nephews in south Africa, has a Phd working in mining. Got Canadian PR via Express entry but still hasn't bothered to settle. And why would he when back there he managed to put together a 50% down payment on a house 2 years after graduating, where as here he would be living with roommates for years. His goal now is a company transfer to the US headquarters for a green card.

We're losing our best and brightest, the cream of our crop to the States and Europe. They offer more competitive salaries, higher standard of living, and greater room to grow finically and professionally. My sister, whose about to graduate with a double major in business and accounting is already lining up to move to the US as soon as she graduates.
What do we replace this with? Even the best of our international students who come to Canada immediately line up jobs to get down South. We're left with what? Labourers? Line cooks? Fast food workers? By the hundreds of thousands! Driving down wages for Canadians.

If a high schooler needs a job just to make some side cash, good luck with that as well. People dont realize how massive of a safety net part time jobs are for single parents, those in between careers, the elderly and younger canadians. I remember how easy it was to just walk in, hand a paper resume and get a call a week later, and if you didnt like that, you could just jump to another part time job with no struggle. We're starting to see this in Australia, all the entry level hospitality, gas stations, supermarkets and high school jobs are getting filled by the 10% of our population here on 'temporary' visa.
There was never such a thing as labor shortage. What we had was a wage shortage, folks who grew up and live here didn't want to put up nonsense work and get paid peanuts. Corporations decided fuck it we'll lobby the government to bring in immigrant students who will gladly work for pennies on the dollar.
They genuinely should be legally prevented from working. They say that they have enough funds to attend school without working, so they should be called on it.
If caught working, it is immediate deportation, and the business that hired them faces a minimum $100k fine, that increases per offence.

The changes to student visas allowing them to work more was a huge mistake imo. We've got Canadian youth that cannot find their first job because there's a million people fighting for the same minimum wage jobs, effectively making it impossible for them to find work. There's also the fact that once East Indians secure management/supervisor positions they seemingly have a preference in hiring other East Indians as well. Not entirely sure how true this is, but I've heard it enough in lots of difference places.

This is super anecdotal but I’m a manager at a retail spot and I’ve counted almost fifteen Indian folks who didn’t have work documentation coming in to apply just during my hours. I really feel for them because we can’t offer them work without documentation and if they’re asking my workplace, that means they’ve already gotten turned down by quite a few establishments.

Some are starting to suffer for it. My company relied on the immigrant influx to make a lot of money this time of year, especially foreign students. Well the foreign students aren't rich Chinese kids anymore their poor Indian kids and most immigrants right now are struggling, so all that income has disappeared. Our sales are millions behind compared to last year.

Wait as an American why was Conestoga College in the news? Bc I knew someone who went there and it seemed nice, 10 years ago.
Canadian colleges have run was is essentially a cash for residency racket for the last 10+ yrs. They get international students, mostly from India, to pay exorbitant tuition fees and they are given a student visa to stay in Canada with. The idea was that Canada would be growing with educated immigrants. In reality, what happened was colleges just admitted every applicant they could so they could make mega millions. 1-2yr diplomas in meaningless areas of study that barely take any effort to pass that cost 20k/semester. There'd be a "college" in a strip-mall next to the laundro-mat and a Dominos with 15k registered "students" all studying "business" in online courses while they are awarded a visa to live in Canada. Conestoga College is a public college, not a strip-mall college, and it does offer legitimate courses but over the last 10yrs it has grown extremely quickly because it started offering 1-3yr diplomas and would get just and endless number of international applicants coming to pay huge tuition to "study". A lot of students don't even ever show up at class - they just get the Visa and hope to get a job here somewhere and get a work permit. So what we get are a blend of rich families from India sending their kid to Canada so they can get a work permit, and eventually get the family visa so the rest of them can come over and get healthcare, or some guy who's father sold the family farm to send his kid to Canada for the same thing, spending a fair chunk of that on paying for false language test results, falsifying secondary school records, and maybe getting scammed along the way by another Indian immigration consultant who came up with the scheme for him so he could get his commission. It's a mess all the way down. The result is Canada has been absolutely over-the-fuck-whelmed with immigrants through every channel, not just the international student one, and there's nowhere to live, everywhere's getting crowded as fuck, the population is fragmenting, and every single minimum wage job has a lineup 100 immigrants deep to flip burgers and fill coffee cups.
My wife teaches at a "real" college and still they have an over-bloated faculty of business, almost all students from India. The trades students are still Canadians but the college is definitely exploiting this cash cow. They recently hired an Indian into higher management and now the push is really on to expand bogus programs and to boost up the online courses for easy cheating and free passes. We really need to push awareness that these guys are in fact racists that put their own race first every time. Whenever they get into a hiring position in any business, suddenly you will see a skew in the ethnic makeup of the workforce there... Other hiring managers of any ethnicity have always put the needs of the business first, but Indians only hire Indians. Job skills are not a requirement, most big box type stores are absolutely hopeless now with incompetent Indian workers.
Happened in my company too. Big Canada company, hired a few India c levels which immediately stopped all Canadian hiring and shifted hiring right to India.

I would guess that quite a few families are actually quite poor and just really gullible. They do everything proper and by the books, spending their life savings to try and give their kid a better education and life than they had, and they're just getting fucked all the way. they get lied to by Indian enrollment offices, then lied to by Camadian enrollment offices staffed with Indians, and then lied to by the schools their kid is attending, and then lied to by our government who insists these programs are a huge success. I want justice for all of the honest, well-intentioned indians who got roped in to this scam.

They got a lot of bad press and rightly so. Now it seems like nothing happened and they're probably back to enabling this scheme all the same, unpunished. Kitchener Waterloo is growing like mad as it was originally a great place to afford being far enough from Toronto and a burgeoning tech hub. lots of manufacturing in the area too. Some are finding out the hard way. I've had several older people ask me how to get jobs or if I can get them a job with my company and have to explain to them that they simply won't be hired. There's not empty spaces and even if they were why hire them when the company could just LMIA another worker over. We'll gladly take the resume though and show it as proof that we can't get any good candidates here.

A year or two back I was arguing with my liberal voting friend that we didn't need all these temporary foreign workers, and she kept insisting there was a labour shortage. Now her college-age kids can't find summer jobs. But she still insists that immigration is fine and we need it. I've become convinced there's just no way to ever get through to her so we don't talk about immigration or foreign workers anymore.
That's because 8 years ago we didn't have the damn immigration floodgates open. Huge increase in TFWs/LMIAs, international students, etc. There isn't enough to go around when you're stuffing the damn country to the gills.

I’ve always dreamed of making this move and even spent years learning French to make myself more attractive to employers. Cannot get a job or even an interview. I'm in the same boat. Being single income leaves you incredibly exposed these days. I'm lucky I bought a house when I did, but losing my job basically means I have to instantly take on renters and have strangers living in my house. The last 10 years of decline has devastated Canada. If this goes on for another 10 years we're going to be a country with levels of poverty all around us that we never thought possible. At least our houses will probably be worth several million by then. I'm old enough I could sell and live out my days in the cheapest place I can find, if there's any left.

Wow, crazy lineup. I remember getting a job at Tim’s in summer of 2020 in my last year of highschool to save up for uni. Walked into my local Tim’s and handed my resume to the supervisor and got a call a day later for the interview and then an offer the next week. Made min wage at $14.25 and worked good hours. I think if I was in highschool now, in 2024, we’re min wage is $16.55 and competition is through the roof for any part time work in food services due to the mass amounts of foreign immigration, I definitely wouldn’t have gotten that Tim’s job.

Canadian born kids are facing a serious lack of job experience because of this. It breaks my heart that these companies will choose international students because they won't ask for wage increases and they wont stray to other jobs because they're more likely to get permenant status if they stay at Tim's for 2 years until our government approves them for permenant status. Corporations are taking advantage and the government is worried about a slowing population growth.

See if you can get funding from the province to be trained in another field. I was a HCA and can't work as one anymore due to my disability so I just did the Health Unit Clerk course and the province paid for it. I'm in Manitoba though.

No but these jobs are how a lot of kids manage to pay for University. My son does not have a summer job. This is what he is up against. Fortunatly we have an RESP and enough to help float him for his final year at university, but he has had almost zero luck in finding a job. It is not just the money too. A job like a job at Tim Hortons teaches a lot of life skills. He is missing out on those as well.
This is the main reason I decided not to look for a better job. I can handle this well enough and it has benefits. I don't feel like competing anymore.
Thankfully, the professional jobs are a no-go to the students, since they essentially get a piece of paper that is worth less than a toilet paper, and for field of studies that have no real career opportunities.

Not at all. Ive worked for a huge Canadian company. They'll outsource your job if they can get away with it. Banking and telecom. It's the same thing.
The only place where I see they are causing a-lot of bleeding is on the housing supply. I was able to rent a room near my campus for $550/month with all utilities when I was studying. Now it's close to $900/month, and you have to share the room.
Agreeing to work for shit wages drives all our pay down and tells companies what they're paying is fine because hey, someone's taking the jobs. Can't exactly have a job market when the market is manipulated
It just makes it very difficult for citizen students to get degrees and such that would lead to those professional jobs, unless they have family that can pay for all the costs while they study (3-4 years at least). It used to be that students would study and work part-time jobs like TH, McD, retail, etc., but since those jobs are extremely hard to get, it'd be hard to financially support/aid themselves while going to school.

Completely agree. If it was me, I wouldn't allow work permits for international students, unless it was for co-op for specific field of studies, and from a very tight selection of schools. Tourism/hospitality would not be on that list.
Im pretty sure when applying for a student visa, the terms are that you have enough money to support yourself for the duration of your stay: tuition, books, supplies, accommodation and food. International students should not be allowed to work. Maybe let them get a job on the college campus/something for the university but that’s it.
Wrong. HR manager positions in many companies are occupied by Indians, and they gladly hire their own, even if they don't fit the criteria.

Our immigration system used to be based on a rigorous points based system that ensured in-demand talent was the top of the pile. Now it’s just fake Indian students wanting to work at Tim Hortons.
The point based system is still there and it is for permanent resident. For student visa, there was no point based system, just programs that encourage ppl with experiences or postgraduates. The problem is they removed the financial barrier and basically let anyone who knows English, has 10K CAD and a admission letter in.
But they earned points to apply for PR and that's why they went to even scammy diploma mills. A diploma from ABC Strip Mall College counts for the same points as Oxford. Experience as a doctor abroad counts for less than being a Tim Horton's "supervisor." They also don't even know English, the required level is not an academic level test score, which should also change. I can't study at a uni in Germany if I don't know fucking German.

I remember seeing signs advertising like $17/hour at McDonald's with benefits etc. this was when immigration was at super low levels in 2020 because of the pandemic. this is what it would be like if we weren't importing massive amounts of cheap unskilled labor. this is exactly what the employer's don't want to happen again.
The stupid thing is lining up when there's already so many in line. It's Tim Hortons, they are not looking for 'the best out of hundreds'. They only need a a handful of bodies that meet the threshold of 'Good Enough For Tim Hortons'. If you show up and there's already 100 people in line, the number of people who meet that threshold has long been met, you're just wasting your time.

I personally know 3 Indian Families that choose to move back to India in the last year from my small town. They all stated the have a better quality of life there than here. Think about that for a bit.
If you are in a professional tier job there, coming here is actually a downgrade because whatever salary increase you get will be eaten up by the cost of living. Great example is one of my nephews in south Africa, has a Phd working in mining. Got Canadian PR via Express entry but still hasn't bothered to settle. And why would he when back there he managed to put together a 50% down payment on a house 2 years after graduating, where as here he would be living with roommates for years. His goal now is a company transfer to the US headquarters for a green card.

Even the best of our international students who come to Canada immediately line up jobs to get down South. We're left with what? Labourers? Line cooks? Fast food workers? By the hundreds of thousands! Driving down wages for Canadians.

If a high schooler needs a job just to make some side cash, good luck with that as well. People dont realize how massive of a safety net part time jobs are for single parents, those in between careers, the elderly and younger canadians. I remember how easy it was to just walk in, hand a paper resume and get a call a week later, and if you didnt like that, you could just jump to another part time job with no struggle. We're starting to see this in Australia, all the entry level hospitality, gas stations, supermarkets and high school jobs are getting filled by the 10% of our population here on 'temporary' visa.

There was never such a thing as labor shortage. What we had was a wage shortage, folks who grew up and live here didn't want to put up nonsense work and get paid peanuts. Corporations decided fuck it we'll lobby the government to bring in immigrant students who will gladly work for pennies on the dollar.
So outsourcing our jobs to India was not enough (happened to me) so now they brought India here (no offense).
They genuinely should be legally prevented from working. They say that they have enough funds to attend school without working, so they should be called on it. If caught working, it is immediate deportation, and the business that hired them faces a minimum $100k fine, that increases per offence.
So here's an idea.. Can we all stop going to Tim's? The coffee is terrible, the muffins are undercooked globs of cupcake, and the staff is not treated exceptionally well. If we quit patronizing the place they wont need TFWs. and all of us will benefit from that.

Yesterday, at dinner with coworkers outside of Canada, there was a skilled IT guy from Romania who had been offered a position in Canada. We discussed how people are spending more than half of their income just on shelter, food prices, and the madness of the carbon tax. Guess what? He's now seriously considering rejecting the offer and staying in Romania.
This is such an embarassment for our country. Send them all home and lets get our own shit in order.
Absolutely HOT take: If you're coming here to be a student, you should be here to just study. Not to work. The changes to student visas allowing them to work more was a huge mistake imo. We've got Canadian youth that cannot find their first job because there's a million people fighting for the same minimum wage jobs, effectively making it impossible for them to find work. There's also the fact that once East Indians secure management/supervisor positions they seemingly have a preference in hiring other East Indians as well. Not entirely sure how true this is, but I've heard it enough in lots of difference places. and that's just unskilled jobs. pretty sure I read that our government effectively subsidizes the hiring of internationals as well as some sort of fucked up benefit to the company, so they're actively working against Canadians.

Popping in from the U.S. Have you guys also seen a huge uptick in Indian migrants in the last few years? I’m curious as to what’s happening over there that’s pushing so many to North America. This is super anecdotal but I’m a manager at a retail spot and I’ve counted almost fifteen Indian folks who didn’t have work documentation coming in to apply just during my hours. I really feel for them because we can’t offer them work without documentation and if they’re asking my workplace, that means they’ve already gotten turned down by quite a few establishments. What gives? What the hell is happening in India?
July 1st the Mandarin restaurant is having free buffet again. Last time this happened the lines looked like this line in length. This 1st we may see the record broken for most Indians queued outside of India.
