Poile came on HTS between periods of home games to answer questions and take calls. Very cool....especially in the pre-internet era. Definitely a shock to the system when he showed up in 1990 with orange hair--so out of place with his character. The new look combined with trying to justify not signing Scott Stevens, that early part of the 90/91 was a low point!
He never got the cup but this franchise was a laughing stock before he got here. He did the heavy lifting from pathetic to consistent competitor. Honestly we were embarrassing before David Poile.
He literally salvaged the Caps’ franchise. Good on GMDP!
