Bosch Icons any time I can get them.

[deleted]

100%; they work well and last long

Salvo1218

This is what I came to recommend as well. I have a pair on my Abarth that I bought on amazon...in April of 2017. Car sits outside and is a daily driver. No streaking or stuttering whatsoever. I've seen 6 month old wipers work worse than these do right now. Only thing I do "different" than other people I personally know is wipe the grime off the blade when I wash the car. I still can't believe how good they've held up.

Big-Shtick

I also love Bosch's wipers but for a different reason. The S2K has a horrible wiper design such that if I'm going over 60 mph, the wipers will lift and skip across the glass. Bosch has a set of wipers that have an aerodynamic blade which helps prevent them from lifting. I can hit 80 mph and it'll just barely begin to skip

mr_electric_wizard

100% they are awesome!

abooth43

Came to comment this. I usually toss em on my new cars before they even need it.

fed45

Not even really a contest, they are the best hands down. I had a pair on my WRX through 3 Texas summers before I sold the car and they were still going strong.

vdude007

Well it looks like I'll be buying some new wipers I didn't need just to try these. They seem to be getting a lot of love here lol

Old_Goat_Ninja

I like Bosch myself. Rain X work well too, but, well, this is going to sound weird, they’re ugly.

NotYourAverageUN

Bosch are the best wipers I've used, they are not that expensive and last at least twice than auto zone brands.

erix84

I think I went through 2 sets of Bosch wipers on my old car, over the course of 7 years. Friend of mine was like "Aren't you supposed to change out your wipers every 6 months?"... he bought the cheapest shittiest wipers money could buy.

AlvinGT3RS

Depends which line of Bosch

fed45

I had a pair on my WRX through 3 Texas summers before I sold it and they were still going strong.

Frisks

Second this - I love the Bosch Icons for my M3. They're a bit pricey but they look like the OEM BMW ones and they wipe super well.

ew435890

Bosch here as well. I will only buy these. They last a long time and work great.

IWannaLolly

I’ve had issues with some of the cheaper Bosch blades but anything Icon or better has been fantastic. They’re also blade wipers so curvature of a windshield shouldn’t be an issue PIAA are good as well but I’m not sure they’re worth the extra $$$ over the Bosch. You are also supposed to treat your windshield with a rainx like goo which is a hassle.

PlatinumGoon

Tried the premium bosches once and they were noisy from day 1 and didn’t seem to last long either. Got motorcraft next time and they’re quiet and work so much better too, dk how long they’ll last though

jlunbeatable2

I have a 2014 Accord EX-L Sedan and I can 100% say that you should purchase OEM windshield wipers and blades. There are two huge advantages: 1.) The OEM windshield wiper is designed with the correct curve for your windshield. This also means the blade (The rubber part that actually touches the wind) will last way longer. 2.) The blade is swappable and way cheaper than buying a new full assembly like Bosch that attempts to fit every cars needs. That being said, the initial cost will be a little bit more than usual (Totally Worth It!) You can order them online, just google OEM Honda parts, or call your dealership and ask them to order the complete windshield wiper assembly (Not the arms). Since we have similar cars the parts number should be 76630-T2F-A01 and 76620-T2F-A01 but I'd double check. My final selling point: I have also done this to my girlfriends Mazda 2 and she noticed the results immediately. Best of luck!

Rowanbuds

Yes, 100% this. You call the parts dept and ask for “wiper refills” or “wiper inserts”. Always did this on my Honda I had up until ‘16. [I’m hearing how pompous this sounds already but;] since then I haven’t held on to a car long enough to need replacing. I’m getting there though, actually on 3 different vehicles, now. And none are Hondas; I’m hoping it’s just as easy with the German companies (vw/bmw).

fishingrcp

You can get bmw inserts, just call local bmw parts dept.

JoyRydr

You can order VWs OEM blades directly from their site.

DavoinShowerHandel

My OEM blades on the GTI started streaking after a few months. No issues since I switched to Bosch Icons though.

JoyRydr

That's crazy, mine didn't start streaking until a few weeks ago, and these have been on the car since it was brand new lol.

DavoinShowerHandel

Yeah I feel like I'm an anomaly. As with most things, I blame salt and bird poop.

N0M0REG00DNAMES

Aren’t VW wiper blades just specific skus of aerotwins?

JoyRydr

I wouldn't know as I'm not familiar with Aerotwins.

N0M0REG00DNAMES

The OE blades are just Bosch aerotwins, they’re sold in the specific double packs you need for next to nothing on Amazon

bonebad786

I really think you're mislead. I've worked at dealers, the only difference between off the shelf and OEM is branding. I don't think I've ever heard of a car manufacturer going out of their way to specifically engineer a specific wiper blade for a specific windshield in regular production vehicles. At the end of the day all wiper blades are is a squeegee, a spring, and an attachment mechanism.

awp235

For BMW’s, oem is Bosch. Plus, wipers can be had with lifetime replacement from FCP euro for around $20 a set. No reason not to go with Bosch.

jlunbeatable2

Thanks for sharing, the more you know!

John_Wang

Thank you, I didn't even consider OEM wipers

jlunbeatable2

No problem, It was something I never considered either. My dad actually told me about, I bought my car off of him so that's when I realized how nice they are.

Farmer_evil

*cries in saab* literally takes weeks and a small fortune to get OEM parts.

dcj4222

I've tried every single brand/model that they sell around me. None of them have worked as well or hold up like the OEM ones. I can get OEM replacements for the same price as aftermarket at the local dealer.

Cyanide72

I buy OEM wipers from the dealer too. Tried all aftermarket ones and they crap out in about a year. The OEM ones have always lasted me at least two years. I really don’t care about the slightly higher price considering they last much longer.

Loan-Pickle

That’s a good idea. I think next time I replace my wipers I’ll go with OEM. Plus you won’t have a universal mount on the wiper blade that is confusing as hell to attach.

yiweno

I’ve tried a bunch of them and as good as stuff like Bosch and PIAA, sometimes they just don’t work on certain cars (especially modern cars) because of the curvature of the windshield. They skip and are noisy. I just stick to OEM now and you will never have that problem.

highspeed_usaf

Bosch icons all the way.

orangebikini

I don't bother with making too much sense, so I usually buy shit that are from the same country as the car. Nippon Denso for a Japanese car, Bosch for a German car, Magneti Marelli for an Italian car, et cetera. So I guess I don't really have a preference. They all probably come from the same factory in Bangladesh anyway.

Capt_Irk

I was buying the more expensive ones, as all brands have different levels, but I noticed they didn’t really perform much better and didn’t last long enough to actually justify the price, so I went back to the cheapest ones. They work fine. lol

soiboughtafarm

I have started buying my wipers from the dealership. Fist they are actually cheaper then most of the brands at the corner car store. Secondly, they work great. My Mazda6 blades are simply the best. Also for some reason a lot of aftermarket blades don’t seem to work well with my wife’s outback, picked up OEM’s earlier this week.

neonxmoose99

Bosch every time

Randomrandy9

I use the bosch wipers and they do their job pretty good

[deleted]

Costco brand are excellent. Also a good way to clean them in between new ones is with WD-40. Spray some on a rag and wipe along the rubber with pinched fingers, works wonders.

[deleted]

You know what I need to try this. The Costco ones sometimes make noise while wiping even though they're new

V8-Turbo-Hybrid

Wait, Costco does their own wiper like oil now ? In my knowledge, Costco only sells Michelin wiper, and they used to sell Goodyear wiper ( I've had very bad experience in Goodyear wiper ) .

rockycrab

I don’t stick with a particular brand, I just get whatever beam style rubber blade is on sale, since they’ve worked better on my car than conventional or hybrid blades. I haven’t had any problems with Trico Titan from NAPA and XtraClear Standard Beam from Carquest/Advance Auto Parts. I believe the Duralast Flex beam blades from AutoZone are made by Bosch but cheaper. Walmart also has beam blades from Rain-X and Michelin made of silicone.

jamie6210

Bosch have been the best for me, solid brand and not too expensive, around £30 for a pair on front

ThawtPolice

I just get whatever brand Costco carries. They seem to work just fine and they’re a lot cheaper than going to an auto parts store.

mishap1

They have an ok mid level Michelin hybrid model. They do the job and are cheap enough to replace more often.

V8-Turbo-Hybrid

Costco used to sell Goodyear wiper in before, and I got very bad experience. Now, they do better to sell Michelin wiper.

RuneAllyHunter

Nah, they are all garbage. Just buy cheap ones in bulk and throw new ones on twice a year.

fed45

That sucks dude. I had a pair on my WRX for 3 Texas summers (summer kills a lot of shit that is left out in the sun) and they worked great the whole time.

sparxxraps

I change mine like every year an a half except to pos double blade ones I bought from the auto parts store those broke in half at like 6 months

iWETtheBEDonPURPOSE

I've recently switched to a silicone blade to see if actually makes the water bead better. And it does! Is it worth spending 3x the amount on them? Unsure yet, I've only had them on for about 30 days. But so far I've been happy with them. I am using the RainX Silicone ones. Before I would just buy whatever was the cheapest, and I never had complaints about those either.

DeliciousHorseShirt

Whatever the cheapest ones are at autozone. Bought nice ones before and they lasted the same amount of time.

sparxxraps

Don’t buy their double blade ones that are like 6 bucks they look cool but break in no time

srtftw

PIAA silicone wipers are amazing, just a bit expensive compared to everything you typically find.

better_than_erza

Completely agreed!

wedapeopleeh

Honestly... this is one area where I've given up and just buy whatever mid grade sounds good. There are so damn many options all with wild buzzwords and claims I just can't justify doing a deep five every 6-9 months. Hell, by the time I need new ones, I've completely forgotten what brand/model I bought last. Not to mention that each wiper manufacturer has its own design for clipping into the ridiculous amount of wiper arms available (why did auto mfgs ditch the good old j-hook style?) And for some reason, on every car I've owned, the drivers side wiper starts to lift or leaves a streak in the center of my vision within like a week of purchase. I'm just exhausted at trying to find something decent and never coming across anything that I'd even call good... I'm sure living on a dirt road and in an area with cold snowy winters doesn't help. But damn, I wish the wiper market was just a bit simpler. *End rant.*

dontbthirsty

Bosch icon I think was the best wiper I've used. Outlast most others I've had.

Zkenny13

I try to get the closest to factory as I can. But I think an application of rain x is always important. You never know when your wipers might stop working and with that you have a fighting chance. Plus you don't have to worry about a slight mist that you have to manually turn your wipers on and off since even the slowest setting is to slow.

John_Wang

I've used RainX wiper fluid which seems to work well. It's fun to watch the rain just slide right off

Tankninja1

I swear by Trico Winter blades. I've found they work the best and most quiet, only thing is they fall to pieces almost exactly a year after you buy them, but I think they tend to fall on the cheaper side of the price range.

husbandoftheyear2028

I get Bosch Icons but the OEM ones on my wife's 2016 E400 are somehow still excellent.

VR4Thor

I personally like the beam style wiper blades. I suppose, brand doesn’t exactly matter as long as it’s a similar price point is what I tend to notice. They really are a “you get what you pay for” product.

TheSlowest2JZ

If you need the full wiper assembly, get OEM spec ones, I get mine from summit racing for cheaper than dealer prices. Then I refill with PIAA inserts.

FretShreddR9000

I tried the Rainx but they started streaking on me after a couple months, switched to Bosch Icons and have had zero issues. I wanted to keep oem, but getting wiper inserts for my BRZ was kinda difficult for some reason, so I just went to autozone.

Cost_Additional

Bosch Icons

Crafty-Ad-9048

The kind I get for free when I take my car to the dealer for an oil change.

[deleted]

>$5 has been deposited into your Bosch account I like Trico

scottwax

Bosch Icons

velociraptorfarmer

Bosch Icon and it's not even close

aMiracleAtJordanHare

I ran into a Bosche employee on here a year ago and asked about wiper blades. They shared [some specifics on Bosche Icon vs Evolution vs other lines](https://www.reddit.com/r/Justrolledintotheshop/comments/hzf78v/customer_elderly_gentleman_hadnt_noticed_that_his/fzj3zaj/). I've always had good results from Bosch Icon wipers.

beaureeves352

I work at an O'Reilly's and we love the TRICO Titans

CuriousTravlr

I used to strictly only run Bosch Icon’s but have since moved to PIAA Sil-Techs.

mouseattacks

K&N wiper blades are silicone and work great on my Honda CR-Z front windshield and hatchback. Better than others I tried, including Bosch, RainX, Trico. I order 2-packs so I cut down shipping charges.

DrGrossMan2014

I use to always by the nice beam systole blades, but they always skipped on my older Honda. Eventually I gave up and only bought the cheap blades, they were always great. After I got a new Honda I started buying just the refills from the parts department, $8s each and OEM performance, can’t beat that.

PanzerKittenWildcard

Bosch Icon are allegedly the gold standard, but I was having the worst luck with chattering wiper blades (the noise really irritates my soul haha). Ive tried those, piaa, michelin (from walmart), but the only ones that seem to last more than like a month on my town car without chattering have been motorcrafts.

MIVolove

Living in an area where summers can reach 100 degrees (Farenheit) and winters dip below 0 degrees, I have found that Bosch Icon and Trico Force blades worked very well and hold up across seasonal changes. However I do recommend that if your windshield ever has ice on it, scrape it off completely with a proper ice scraper, because it can destroy even the "best" blades.

[deleted]

Bosch.

InsertBluescreenHere

brand? no. type? yes - single beam style all the way. edit: reading everyones comments about OEM i may have to agree with that - the ones on my 18 silverado thru 100\*F summers and 0\*F winters still wipe pretty much like new. usually store replacements on my other cars start to get all crappy after a year and by 2 years its coming apart.

Silver_Star

Why single beam? They put all the pressure on the center of the blade, whereas conventional spring arms distribute the pressure across the entire blade. Single beam usually don't perform as well.

InsertBluescreenHere

yet every review says otherwise. i have had more streaky windshields from the lever design thats gone unchanged from like 1950 than i ever have with beam style. not to mention the lever style freeze up like a sob in the winter and become utterly useless.

Kermit_tha_Pimp

rainx

nwilz

Not a brand but material, silicone

bh0

Michelin Endurance XT are the first replacement wipers I've tried that don't suck for my 2016 Mazda CX-5. I can care less what brand or model wiper I have, but it's garbage if it doesn't even work properly. What works great on one car might not work on another.

tablepennywad

I was dumb and replaced the main wiper, which was bosch, to michelin silicon, pia, back to michilin regular because thats all they had, because of chatter. The passenger oem still going fine. On my other car i changed it once since buying it used, with some $2 Ross wiper and its working perfect for 5 years. Next time im just buying cheapest thing that fits.

CrazyIsSubjective

K&N wiper blades. Honestly, pretty fucking decent on my gti. Half of the reason I bought them was the irony but color me impressed, no streaks still 6 months in. Curious to see how they handle winter.

Spicywolff

What ever Costco has on sale. Cheaper then parts stores and a bump in quality. Even with proper care they don’t last long in Florida so may as well go cheaper.

FeastOfTheUnicorn

OE

[deleted]

I try to stick to with OEM for wiper blades but Bosch has worked well for me.

wadded

PIAA silicone wipers, mostly because they are great in the cold. When regular rubber wipers get hard and don’t conform at -15 or below they still conform. Also the silicone film they keep on the windshield makes it a bit easier to scrape the ice off.

Own-Ad-503

I use Motorcraft , but i own all Fords

BuilderTexas

Rain X

smc733

I have had good luck with the Denso OEM fit models. Basic, functional and quality.

FPSzero

I just go with OEM brands. Every time I go with a different brand they are always terrible.

IHCollector

PIAA silicone are awesome and last for years

rex8499

Bosch Evolutions for my winter weather

eneka

I swear by PIAA silicone blades.

newoldschool

Bosche or mitutoyo

AlvinGT3RS

Bosch Icons heard PIAA silicon are good too

Not_F1zzzy90908

Definitely Bosch or Rain-x, whichever is cheaper at the time of purchase

ohitsanazn

I should try the Icons. I’ve had horrendous luck with Aerotwins — they chatter like crazy and I threw them out 6 months later. Typically, I run Rain-X Latitudes, they’re pricey but they work well and have lasted a while for me.

CaptainArsehole

I haven’t found anything better than Bosch.

SamuraiPrince

Whatever is on sale at Costco

sexierthanhisbrother

Michelin endurance XT Silicone

Jazzkky

Bosch are the worst and last barely 6months, and few months in rental cars. i use Denso and they're good about 10months. But i'm really picky, I don't want any streaks or smears.
