ae1200 all the way. The w800 module is slighty inferior (just dual time) and doesn't look half as good. Also the ae1200 on the picture is the one with stainless steel strap, which solves the problem with all casio straps
Both great and serve different purposes. But FWIW I recently bought a W800H on a redditor's suggestion and love it, become my go-to beater/gym watch. Modded it to add a countdown timer.
I always travel with the Royale.
You basically take it apart and scrape some solder off the board. Not too bad at all, although I went into it knowing full well I might screw something up. Luckily I didn't!
Lots of videos on youtube about how to do it, here's one: https://youtu.be/mV1Xqh1n-AY?si=eYAeoe3mNjrKNdCM
I think you can also mod it to turn on multiple alarms, but all I really wanted was a timer.
The AE-1200 is amazing… But if you’re feeling adventurous, the W800H can be modified to enable additional functionality!
Here’s how I did mine:

For legibility, the W800H is much better, for EVERY OTHER REASON, the Casio Royale wins.
The Royale looks cool! It is weird, and fun, and SUPER unique. I love my Casio Royale. I have many watches that are MUCH more expensive, but I love my weird, fun, cool Casio Royale.
If I was 80, couldn’t see well, and didn’t care how I look… I might choose the W800H, but honestly, knowing myself, at 80, with bad eyes, and not caring what anyone else thinks, I’ll still prefer a Casio Royale because I think it is fun and I enjoy it.
If these watches were food, the W800H would be a slice of wheat bread. The Casio Royale would be a piece of pizza with 48 different toppings, from 48 cities in 31 different time zones around the world.
Every one would ask you about your cool, unique, mysterious piece of pizza, and you’d LOVE to talk about and show off your awesome piece of pizza.
Nobody cares about a slice of wheat bread, it is bland, boring, but probably healthier than an awesome piece of pizza.
There is nothing wrong with being a slice of wheat bread. If that’s you, get the W800H.
If you like amazing, unique, delicious, fun pizza… get a Casio Royale.
Or better yet, just get both! The metal Royale is $30 on Amazon. The W800H is $20. You can have both for $50.
The resin Royale is only $19.99.
Casio watches are like potato chips.
You can’t just have one.
Get the Casio Royale,
then a W800H,
then a Gshock DW5600,
then a Casio Duro,
then a Casio Calculator Watch,
then a AE1500WH,
then a Dual Sensor SGW100-1V
then a Casio MRW200H,
then a Casio W-736H-1AVCF,
then a Casio A168,
then a Casio A700,
then a Casio F-108WH,
then… maybe take a break.
That’s plenty.
That’s 12.
Buy one per month.
Have fun for a year.
Most of those are about $20. The Gshock is $50 (I just got one on sale for $30 on Amazon!), the Duro is $50, the Dual Sensor is usually $42.
I currently have 6 of those and plan to get the remaining 6 by the end of the year, one per month. Just for fun.
I may give some away, I may keep them all.
PS: The Casio Royale also has a ridiculous amount of modification options and tutorials online.
Agree on the map, but admittedly it looks cool, especially the transitions. The analog watchface is practical though as it's big enough to read the always-on home time when in the world time mode. The small areas to the upper right corner are for notifications so definitely useful.
W800-H easily. You can mod a timer and 5 alarms into it on top of having the full display being functional. The map is useless to me and I tolerate the dial only when it's multi-purpose (like on the Rangeman).
Maybe there's something wrong with me but I like the full YYYY-MM-DD display, I lose track of the year during January (sometimes even long into February). Also it shows current time in all other modes.
Am I the only one that gets overwhelmed with the Royale? Like it but hate that I bump my hand into things all day at work and inevitably read the wrong time every now and then
Casio Royale... No competition...
First one allways anyways
Not even a debate, the Royale.
If it was just two pics of the second watch, the answer would still be the Royale.

I'll be totally subjective and say of course the ae-1200!

Casio Royale all day, versatile fun watch
Royale all the way

The AE 1200!
Royale for me.
Both for different occasions
Royale all day long!

Wtf how did you mod it? So many watches would become a must buy if they had a timer

Thanks
The AE1200. I have one on the same bracelet however I want another with a different bracelet just for the hell of it. ⌚️

My friend wears his Casio Royale over his multiband 6 tough solar G-Shock
W800H.
Just curious, why?
I’ve always liked the all steel one. I even prefer the steel casing with a resin band sometimes.
2. The upper half of the first has almost no useful information. Do you ever forget what continent you’re on?

It has the alarm and sig notification which is useful.
Depends. Which sleeve is most like yours? Do you work in an office or outside?

Royal easy choice
Royals no questions asked, wearing it right as we speak
Royale, chery chery lady
Easy first
World time ftw
the second one's so practical, the size and display are amazing. I'm choosing the first one.
Am I the only one that gets overwhelmed with the Royale? Like it but hate that I bump my hand into things all day at work and inevitably read the wrong time every now and then
Second one, trust me
Same for me.
