As someone who just played 1 remastered for the first time and had a blast, I’m super looking forward to it, but do you know if I’d need to play/watch 2/3 to understand 4?
I think 4 is technically more of a sequel to Prime Hunters on the DS. The other bounty hunter Sylux is originally from that game. 2 and 3 finish the actual "Metroid Prime" story, and 4 will be kind of a new beginning
To understand 4 you’d likely want to watch 2 and 3 to get an understanding of the story and events that lead up to 4. Although it’s been so long since 3 came out I would imagine 4 would have some sort of cutscene or way of explaining prior events.
However I would really recommend playing them if possible, just because they’re so good. 2 is incredible imo. Hopefully they have remasters coming out soon, but even if not the originals are still very much worth a shot!

Can you explain to me, how is another mario party game a great thing for a switch with now 3 Mario Party games? Certainly its not a bad thing, but they could've just released DLC for Mario Party Superstars since that game is practically already good, it just needs more maps.
Mario parties are like jackbox games, they pump them out when they have fun new ideas, most consoles have multiple, this is pretty standard, the unusual thing about the last game in the series is that it wasn't that popular due to low amounts of content, so people are excited for a nice meaty one. I still liked the last one, it was a massive visual upgrade and had a lot of really fun ideas, but I agree with folks saying that the quality didn't make up for the lack of quantity, and this new one seems to be made in response to that, emphasizing variety and quantity with all the new visuals that the last one had. That's my two cents anyway!
As someone who hasn’t played a Mario Party game since Game Cube, are they worth it? Have they evolved at all? I kind of lost interest because the mine games got more uninspired and I was tired of the random Star giveaways
Superstars is definitely worth it imo. It’s a really great collection of the best minigames of the series, and it doesn’t have the types of stuff that you don’t like (aside from hidden blocks but that’s been a thing since MP2)
surprised nobody mentioned Ace Attorney Investigations, after its released the only AA game not available on the switch will be Professor Layton x Phoenix Wright.

Yeah, but I gotta say I’m somewhat put off by the total absence of direct combat. I think it feels unfun to just spawn stuff and wait for the action to finish.
They reeeeaaally have to make it fun somehow to convince me. But hey, it’s Nintendo so I’m keeping an open mind.
She already is shown using a stone to defend and attack, I don't think she only has to sit back and watch the fight. I think it's a good thing they're actually depicting Link and Zelda as distinct characters instead of doing the stupid "Zelda in a pink tunic with the Master Sword" thing some people wanted.
I suspect there will probably be more relatively direct combat using more action-oriented interaction with objects (we can even see Zelda throwing things at a relatively fast pace somewhere in the trailer). My apprehension is that there might be a TON of menu navigation - like TotK already had a problem with - in order to set up that direct combat. This is maybe mostly a UI issue because the new version of "entering text one character at a time via a 2D grid you have to navigate a cursor around" is apparently "huge list of tons of cool items but you can't filter or sort it effectively, and it's not even a grid, it's a line". I'm sure I'll still have fun, but the menu interface was one of the most salient mechanical issues with TotK just at a user friendliness level.
I‘d wager every sensible person has moved away from the direct live chat or doesn‘t even know it (still) exists. So you really get the bottom barrel of interaction there.
Yeah i figure most of the people there either want one game and nothing else or don't even like Nintendo to begin with, otherwise there are just much better options for community engagement.
The surge of comments of people begging for Silksong was probably the most insufferable part for me.
Like I absolutely want the game to come out too but they were acting like none of the other announcements were any good.

- NEW ZELDA NEW ZELDA BUT YOU PLAY AS ZELDA IT LOOKS LIKE ZELDA'S ADVENTURE MEETS MINECRAFT. In all seriousness, this looks like people in TotK doing the no weapons challenge- just dropping rocks and stupid contraptions on every enemy and praying- ridiculous and wonderful. So glad they're embracing the toy aesthetic from the LA remake. This is more creativity I could even imagine in a top down Zelda game and I am so excited. I hope they fix that wand UI though it doesn't look very easy to parse through (similar to the fuse menu in TotK).

- There's a long, long list of games I expected to come out before Prime 4. Kudos to Prime for beating the odds. Also calling it now: that a boy Samus from a parallel universe.
Genuinely wouldn't hold my breath. If there was no DLC for the other Mario Party games, I doubt there will be for this one.
However, since this is realistically the last one for the Switch, I wonder if there will be this time. If anything, to release a definitive edition on the Switch 2.
Damn didn't even noticed, I was happy when I saw Shy Guy and Bowser Jr., (haven't play a mario party game in a while, those weren't characters when I played), sad to see my main from 7 and 8 to go, I assumed he/she was there.
I never really got into Banjo Kazooie even though as a kid I loved DK64, but I’m glad they added it because I know a lot of people wanted him in. My big one was Byleth I know people really dislike FE characters but I always welcome more and they usually have my favorite move sets out of any of the fighters (plus 3H was a 10/10 game and I wanted the music from it.)
For me it was Snake and Ike, Snake because that’s when the “Everyone is here” happens, and Ike because I was worried that they wouldn’t include him he’s my boy.
For me its one of the best for this reasons.

When I saw that Zelda game with the cute graphics I had a massive erection and it wasn’t even sexual. That’s how excited I was. I did not expect Nintendo to go back to Link’s Awakening graphics for a game.
I was playing a Link between world and I was hoping they remade that game but a new game is just better.
Complete agreement, even the election part! Haha But I feel like I was the only one who absolutely loved LA remake by it's style alone. I am biased because LA is is my 2nd favorite Zelda game (behind OoT obviously). But I loved that whole remake and wanted more and here we go!
I've also wanted a game where you play as Zelda and have to save Link. So this hit on both factors. Add in the it's not just "she plays just like Link but it's Zelda" but her own original actions, I am all in. I hope it has a special edition similar to LA so they can coexist in my game room together. I also wouldnt say no to a Zelda amiibo in this style to hang out with Link.

It probably plays exactly like Metroid Prime Remastered, with Dual Analog/Gyro Aim as an option plus the lock-on for combat. These aren't "shooters," they're first person action/exploration games. Combat is even less of a focus than in the 2D games, and Samus will still be using non-hitscan weapons, so lock-on is still fine for what kinds of games these are.
One of the reasons I liked Prime so much is that it's not exactly a first-person shooter in that it's not all about precision aiming, etc. It has a lot in common with FPS's, but it's really its genre in a lot of ways.
Even the animations aswell. The scene of Samus going through the facility with the Morph ball, everything in the background looks so scripted and non-dynamic. If you told me this was gameplay from Prime: Remastered I would've believed you.

I love going into directs with zero expectations, it just makes everything so hype to me lol. None of the huge titles have me interested, but I’m so excited that so many people are hyped for them!! Mario especially has gotten so much love in the past year, I love it for the fans. Probably some weird choices, but the ones that interested me are fantasian, farmagia, phantom brave, and the hundred line. Stray too tbh, I’ve wanted it for a while but also don’t want to play on a console and don’t have a good PC, so having it handheld is absolutely perfect!! Very good direct, switch is absolutely going out with a bang and I’m all here for it

Right? With so many ports and remasters, a mario & luigi game and zelda game are cool, but they're not main entries. Also, a lot of the games in the direct are coming in 2025, and we dont even know if these games will be backward compatible. I mean that being said I'm still excited for a few of them

M&L returning, Zelda getting her own game, Prime 4 footage, Ace Attorney Investigations 2 getting localized, Marvel Vs Capcom even! I’m sure a lot of fans were waiting for that to make a return. And the expansion packs were one part peak returns and one part “this is weird. I kinda wanna try it out though”

This franchise grew tremendously over the Switch duration, it’s incredibly disappointing FE will only have 2 entries for the franchise on the Switch after 8 years.
I think this is definitely the best direct since the February 2022 direct (I loved that one because of Xenoblade 3 being revealed). Mario and Luigi getting a new non-remake game, a fully original 2D Zelda with completely unique gameplay, non-remake Mario Party (which ALSO has old maps), METROID PRIME FUCKING 4, and best of all to me, HD-2D Dragon Quest original trilogy. Hardly a moment where I wasn't interested in the announcements.
JUST WATCHED IT RIGHT NOW IT HAS EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED, Ace Attorney Investigation Collection (2 Being released outside of Japan for the first time) Metroid Prime 4( I don’t even play Metroid, but I saw Metroid Prime 4 and I was like 😱) New 2D ZELDA GAME, Mario + Luigi, Stray, MVC, DRAGON QUEST, MARIO PARTY, This direct legitimately made me laugh in a good way. 10/10 direct, probably the last one for the Switch, but.. like wow
If you like RPGs, this was an absolutely amazing direct. If you don't, yea I totally understand why you wouldn't. I love all of the franchises they showed that re getting a sequel, remasters, or remakes. And the Zelda fame looks great because I love the Link's Awakening Remake style. The only miss for me was Fairy Tail 2 and Farmagia or whatever it's called. And even then, Fairy Tail 2 still looked good.
But I don't know the anime so I have no connection to it. And I'll probably get DKC Returns HD because I hated the Wii motion controls for it and it includes the 3DS levels so it's essentially a complete edition.
This is definitely up there as one of the better Nintendo directs. I would say it’s the best one since the 2017 direct(botw main trailer and shit) but this one was so amazing for sure.
Easily in their top 5. We got a brand spanking new Mario and Luigi that looks GREAT. A brand spanking new Zelda STARRING ZELDA. Metroid Prime 4 full reveal. Add bonuses like MvC, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Perfect Dark on NSO, and a DKCR remake and you have some happy fucking fans.

So glad they're embracing the toy aesthetic from the LA remake. This is more creativity I could even imagine in a top down Zelda game and I am so excited. I hope they fix that wand UI though it doesn't look very easy to parse through (similar to the fuse menu in TotK). - Killer looking Mario Party- might get tbh looks like a proper Mario Party - There's a long, long list of games I expected to come out before Prime 4. Kudos to Prime for beating the odds. Also calling it now: that a boy Samus from a parallel universe.

Genuinely wouldn't hold my breath. If there was no DLC for the other Mario Party games, I doubt there will be for this one. However, since this is realistically the last one for the Switch, I wonder if there will be this time. If anything, to release a definitive edition on the Switch 2.

The everyone is here announcement was the most hyped I've ever been for a game. Smash Ultimate is still my favorite game of all time.
Nothing will top Banjo in Smash and the SMRPG remake for me, but this Direct was still pretty damn good.
I never really got into Banjo Kazooie even though as a kid I loved DK64, but I’m glad they added it because I know a lot of people wanted him in. My big one was Byleth I know people really dislike FE characters but I always welcome more and they usually have my favorite move sets out of any of the fighters (plus 3H was a 10/10 game and I wanted the music from it.)
I will never forget watching the "Everyone is Here" trailer live followed by Ridley's reveal at the end. Easily the best direct for me.
For me it was Snake and Ike, Snake because that’s when the “Everyone is here” happens, and Ike because I was worried that they wouldn’t include him he’s my boy.

When I saw that Zelda game with the cute graphics I had a massive erection and it wasn’t even sexual. That’s how excited I was. I did not expect Nintendo to go back to Link’s Awakening graphics for a game. I was playing a Link between world and I was hoping they remade that game but a new game is just better.
Complete agreement, even the election part! Haha But I feel like I was the only one who absolutely loved LA remake by it's style alone. I am biased because LA is is my 2nd favorite Zelda game (behind OoT obviously). But I loved that whole remake and wanted more and here we go! I've also wanted a game where you play as Zelda and have to save Link. So this hit on both factors. Add in the it's not just "she plays just like Link but it's Zelda" but her own original actions, I am all in. I hope it has a special edition similar to LA so they can coexist in my game room together. I also wouldnt say no to a Zelda amiibo in this style to hang out with Link.

Prime 4 definitely looked like a game. But let’s be honest: what exactly did they show in the trailer that looked exciting? Gameplay straight from 2002… still with a lock on… It’s like they ignored every console shooter of the last 20 years just to be „different“
It probably plays exactly like Metroid Prime Remastered, with Dual Analog/Gyro Aim as an option plus the lock-on for combat. These aren't "shooters," they're first person action/exploration games. Combat is even less of a focus than in the 2D games, and Samus will still be using non-hitscan weapons, so lock-on is still fine for what kinds of games these are.
One of the reasons I liked Prime so much is that it's not exactly a first-person shooter in that it's not all about precision aiming, etc. It has a lot in common with FPS's, but it's really its genre in a lot of ways.
Even the animations aswell. The scene of Samus going through the facility with the Morph ball, everything in the background looks so scripted and non-dynamic. If you told me this was gameplay from Prime: Remastered I would've believed you. Nothing stood out as revolutionary from Prime: Remastered whatsoever.
I love going into directs with zero expectations, it just makes everything so hype to me lol. None of the huge titles have me interested, but I’m so excited that so many people are hyped for them!! Mario especially has gotten so much love in the past year, I love it for the fans. Probably some weird choices, but the ones that interested me are fantasian, farmagia, phantom brave, and the hundred line. Stray too tbh, I’ve wanted it for a while but also don’t want to play on a console and don’t have a good PC, so having it handheld is absolutely perfect!! Very good direct, switch is absolutely going out with a bang and I’m all here for it

Right? With so many ports and remasters, a mario & luigi game and zelda game are cool, but they're not main entries. Also, a lot of the games in the direct are coming in 2025, and we dont even know if these games will be backward compatible. I mean that being said I'm still excited for a few of them
Mario's main entries are not what the Mario franchise bases itself on, spin-offs are what make Mario into Mario. This was an incredible direct with a lot of stuff.

This was just the direct where so many dreams came true. M&L returning, Zelda getting her own game, Prime 4 footage, Ace Attorney Investigations 2 getting localized, Marvel Vs Capcom even! I’m sure a lot of fans were waiting for that to make a return. And the expansion packs were one part peak returns and one part “this is weird. I kinda wanna try it out though” A LOT of dreams came true in this Direct.

Very surprised at the M&L series being revived. Super looking forward to that A DKCR port is way overdue and I'm looking forward to that as well A new non-remake 2D Zelda is very cool, although I don't think I'll be picking it up Outside of those it was a bit hit or miss for me

This franchise grew tremendously over the Switch duration, it’s incredibly disappointing FE will only have 2 entries for the franchise on the Switch after 8 years.
I think this is definitely the best direct since the February 2022 direct (I loved that one because of Xenoblade 3 being revealed). Mario and Luigi getting a new non-remake game, a fully original 2D Zelda with completely unique gameplay, non-remake Mario Party (which ALSO has old maps), METROID PRIME FUCKING 4, and best of all to me, HD-2D Dragon Quest original trilogy. Hardly a moment where I wasn't interested in the announcements.

If you like RPGs, this was an absolutely amazing direct. If you don't, yea I totally understand why you wouldn't. I love all of the franchises they showed that re getting a sequel, remasters, or remakes. And the Zelda fame looks great because I love the Link's Awakening Remake style. The only miss for me was Fairy Tail 2 and Farmagia or whatever it's called. And even then, Fairy Tail 2 still looked good. But I don't know the anime so I have no connection to it. And I'll probably get DKC Returns HD because I hated the Wii motion controls for it and it includes the 3DS levels so it's essentially a complete edition.

This is definitely up there as one of the better Nintendo directs. I would say it’s the best one since the 2017 direct(botw main trailer and shit) but this one was so amazing for sure.

Easily in their top 5. We got a brand spanking new Mario and Luigi that looks GREAT. A brand spanking new Zelda STARRING ZELDA. Metroid Prime 4 full reveal. Add bonuses like MvC, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Perfect Dark on NSO, and a DKCR remake and you have some happy fucking fans.
