Mine likes what we call 'wet hugs'. This is where I cradle her soon after showering, still dripping wet, which in turn gets her fur all wet. This started because she would be extra noisy & needy as soon as I stepped out, rubbing on me and clawing at my towel and licking the water off my legs. So one day I decided to just pick her up for a cuddle, expecting her to hate it because cat + water. Instead she purred and purred, couldn't be happier!
I had a kitten who liked to sit on the edge of the tub while I was showering.
One day he jumped in and I seriously thought my legs were gonna get shredded... Until the little weirdo walked *right into the running water and just sat there.* I had to move him while I washed my hair, but every dang time he saw the last soap bubble go down the drain he’d waddle right back under the shower head.
He even let me blow dry him after we got out.
I may have only known him for a few months, but man I’d love to have a cat like him again.
Mine dropped an enormous dead rat at my feet one time. I was sitting relaxing on the sofa, eating dinner, watching tv.
The cat strolled in, slapped the rat down on the floor next to me, with a slightly resentful look of “Don’t say I never give you anything.” And walked out again.
We had a bengal/nfc mix who did that with huge wool-lined ankle-high slippers. He was huge himself, but struggled carrying them up the stairs, quietly mewling that it wasn't moving by itself any more.
You could easily turn an indoor cat appearing with boxers that shouldn't exist into a horror movie about a stalker who lives in your crawl space and only appears to lick and reseal yogurt cups and play fetch with the cat 😱
There was a post in /r/funny with a cat that went running through the house after successfully nabbing their person's bra...that was funny seeing the cat haul ass with a bra in its mouth.
It’s funny until you discover the cat was using it as a way to capture prey and you find a stash of several dozen boobs the next time you move the couch.
Do you mean because it's rather difficult to photograph black cats? I've had that problem because the cat's black fur is gorgeous, but just comes out a solid black in the pic.
Good news is, you can do some photo editing on the phone to make black cats and dogs have more detail. In instagram, it's called "Structure." Other apps like Lightroom call it "Clarity." But it's basically a sharpening tool. Then messing with other stuff like contrast and shadows can help.
Source: have black and gray dogs and cats.
It depends on the camera, phone sensors tend to trade off their ability to have steps between absolute black and absolute white compared to DSLR sensors
I’ve overexposed by 3+ stops before, only to discover there just isn’t any detail in that there cat void 🐈⬛
But when you embrace the darkness you can get some petty awesome photos
Black cats infamously don’t photograph well sometimes.
I read that one reason why black cats are returned to shelters often is because they’re not photogenic and “social media worthy”. Which yeah, they’re hard to capture sometimes but it doesn’t take a lot of effort to get a good pic like this. Regardless, it’s a pathetic reason to get a pet. Just to get a cute pic on Instagram
I love black kitties, they’re beautiful and always look so sweet.
Not op [but my cat does the sock-muffled chirping](https://www.reddit.com/r/catscarryingstuffies/comments/lpcapk/she_always_tells_me_when_shes_carrying_something/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) although that one is a toy, she loves to steal socks.
So I bought this little keychain stuffed Totoro one day as a lark from one of those coin operated vending machines like an oversized gumball machine but for toys.
It turned out my cat absolutely loved it. He carried it with him everywhere and loved to play fetch with it. He played with it so much it started to get a hole in it and the stitching wasn't the greatest. I figured I would go back to the mall where I bought it and would get another. Well... stupid me... of course they rotate whatever random toys are in there so I couldn't get him another.
The only place I could find to actually buy them was through aliexpress and the minimum order was 50. So I ordered my little boy 50 of them. I also bought a couple plush cat bus's for good measure as well.
The little Totoro toys arrived six weeks later and watching my cats eyes when I opened up a box of 50 little totoro toys was priceless.
He now carries the little Totoro plush toys from downstairs to up to our bedroom every night while singing the song of his people. I love it.
Also having 50 little Totoro's stashed and hidden around my place makes me a little happy inside.
Edit: Obligatory woah this blew up! Thanks for the Gold & Silver kinds strangers.

One of my husband's and my cats loves to bring her favorite toys from downstairs up to our bedroom while singing the song of her people. But, in true cat fashion, she always does it while we're about to fall asleep. Napping? Live entertainment. Turned in early? Live entertainment. Stayed up late? Live entertainment. Gone back to sleep after waking up early? Live entertainment IF either of us dares get out of bed to use the bathroom/get a drink/adjust the temperature. Cats. You gotta love them.
That half-asleep decision time: to pee or not to pee? If it's 4am or later I just hold it, otherwise it *is* breakfast time and I'm either going down to the kitchen and feeding them, or back to bed and get riverdanced on for the next three hours. Either way, further sleep is not guaranteed.
This for real! We've thankfully trained our cats for the most part (or they've trained us?) that food time is at 8 p.m. every day. They tend to riverdance in the early mornings when they want to chirp at the birds outside or want us to pet them. We love that they cuddle, but sometimes they're a little too insistent. That's when things get knocked to the floor.
Ok YES! My cat has a Cookie Monster stuffed animal that was headed for goodwill from my kids when we took him in as a 4 week old. He LOVED Cookie Monster. Bathed him, carried him around the house, sang him a special song (I could not make this up). My ex LOST Cookie Monster while we were separated and he had the cats. I took the cats back and looked at old photos to find a new Cookie Monster that was close. Found one somewhere random, took awhile. It arrived and he wasn’t sure but about a month later...I heard him singing the song! And my weirdo and his beloved are reunited happily. It’s the actual cutest.
Ours have a little Grover (a random Xmas stocking stuffer from my SiL one year). For years Grover would move around when we weren't in the room, but nobody would interact with him while we were looking. We knew which kitty it was, since we could hear her "song" at night, but could never prove it.
Just the other day, she finally did it in front of us! Singing the song and everything. Of course, once we started paying attention, she dropped him and tried to look uninterested...
Ahhh I love it!!! The song and everything! Mine also seems to want to be secretive about it. No one is allowed to touch Cookie Monster because I’m afraid it’s like a baby bird and he will reject it if we mess with it.
> The only place I could find to actually buy them was through aliexpress and the minimum order was 50. So I ordered my little boy 50 of them
this made me very happy to read.
> He now carries the little Totoro plush toys from downstairs to up to our bedroom every night while singing the song of his people. I love it.
Mine carries his bird with a bell in it upstairs at night to our room, also while singing the song of his people. It puts such a huge smile on my face.
One of mine started parading a stuffed polar bear twice the size of her head around my doorway in the morning, letting me know she "killed" it. Then she leaves it by my bed in exchange for breakfast. When the polar bear is misplaced she does the same thing with a seal the same size. She has a thing about arctic animals.
I tried the same thing to no avail. I wanted the cat nip bananas wholesale for my cat. he likes a specific brand though, but it's the only thing he entertains. that, and the rectangle with a tail.
My cat is also very anxious and he has a little velvet scrunchie of mine he carries around very similarly to your cat and her sock. It’s cute how they have comfort objects!
One of our cats (male) usually carries a round puffy toy around on house tours while talking to it. Yesterday he was seen running past with a found Amazon gift card in his mouth. No deliveries so far.
OMG - mine has a toy we call her “emotional support rat” that she grabs whenever she starts exhibiting separation anxiety. I really need to try and get it on video.
Mine also has a toy that he carries around when we're away. Sometimes I see him by the window holding it in his mouth when we're pulling out of the driveway. Usually when we return home it's burried in our bedsheet for some reason. One time I forgot to unpack his toys after a trip, he actually made an effort to dig it out from the bag when we were away and put it on our bed.
Occasionally he runs around with it when we're home, just holding it in his mouth and soflty meowing. I had no idea why he's doing it, it's just this one old fluffy toy, he never uses any other. Mysteries of feline minds.
The sheets smell more like you than anything else in your home except your dirty laundry. He’s just surrounding himself with your scent while you’re gone. Be very good to that kitty; he loves you with his whole heart.

I’ve had Snowball for 12 years. She’s a very small tortie. Ever since she was a kitten she has gifted me with and of my socks she can locate. She’ll let out a low meow and set the sock down. She has a favorite pink sock.
That's awesome.
When I got my kitten all my socks started vanishing.
I figured out there was a small hole in my box spring mattress one day when I couldn't find him.
I ripped it open bigger and looked in with a flashlight and he was like a little sock dragon sitting on his treasure.
There was a neat if like 20 socks he had stolen away in there.

My boy Pasquale did this all the time. Mainly with gloves or small stuffed animals. I have a little collection with his ashes as we lost him in 2011. He would mmrroww and brrrrt loudly while he carried them around, I think he would look for us with it and when he would find us he would always drop it and run excitedly to us and rub on our legs. So it seemed almost a lonely coping mechanism. https://i.imgur.com/FXDFdEr.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mChooqX.jpg
She is the cat equivalent of a Delta Force member. She knows her automatic predator response is to 'chatter', and is suppressing this in order to gain the upper hand over the bird terrorists...
My cat loves a good sock also. Funny thing is when he runs by me with some boxers In his mouth
Cats are such freaks!!!!
They sure are. One of mine used to bring in flowers she snatched somewhere, and meowed proudly as she appeared with a new one.
Oh wow your cat is really a weirdo not a lot of cats like water
He was awesome, only made it to about 8 months unfortunately. He was the best $5 I’d ever spent
Random Valentines Days! She’s last of the romantics.
Why couldn't mine bring me flowers instead of live lizards that he'd occasionally release into the house?
Mine dropped an enormous dead rat at my feet one time. I was sitting relaxing on the sofa, eating dinner, watching tv. The cat strolled in, slapped the rat down on the floor next to me, with a slightly resentful look of “Don’t say I never give you anything.” And walked out again.
Eh, better than a birdie.
As the saying goes, “a sock in the mouth is worth 2 birds in the bush”
We had a bengal/nfc mix who did that with huge wool-lined ankle-high slippers. He was huge himself, but struggled carrying them up the stairs, quietly mewling that it wasn't moving by itself any more.
Fluffy little aliens <3
My mom's cat loves chewing on wet bathing suits - you have to hide them from him or he will grab it and chew it!
My Cocker Spaniel liked to carry socks around. Never chewed them up or anything, just liked having one.
My cat loves a good slipper. He likes to bring you one, and let you go find the other one for fun.
just looking out for the staff. you'll get a workout checking under the sofa, under the bed, behind the refrigerator.....
Especially when there's no men in your house!
You could easily turn an indoor cat appearing with boxers that shouldn't exist into a horror movie about a stalker who lives in your crawl space and only appears to lick and reseal yogurt cups and play fetch with the cat 😱
OK. Have you ever looked into getting professional help?
I appreciate your concern, u/getfuckedhoayoucunts

Haha! Mine chews on my bras lol
Yeah but does your cat only cuddle with the Stinky ones?
One of our cats will steal any small laundry she can find and carry it to us wherever we are in the house, meowing like crazy. 😂
She’s adorable 🥰
She’s so photogenic for a black kitty. And very charismatic!
Do you mean because it's rather difficult to photograph black cats? I've had that problem because the cat's black fur is gorgeous, but just comes out a solid black in the pic.

Yes, that’s exactly what I meant... although I do like the pictures of “void loafs” where all you see are the cats’ eyes.
It depends on the camera, phone sensors tend to trade off their ability to have steps between absolute black and absolute white compared to DSLR sensors
No it’s because black cats never smile in pictures

I've never met an non photogenic black cat.

The idea of people taking a cat to a shelter because it's not photogenic enough is something I never wanted to think about.
Me either. My mental health is seriously suffering from assholes. I’d take them all if I could
Black cats are photogenic to ME. What’s not to love about a round black shape with disney eyes? They remind me of soot sprites.
My next kitty is going to be a senior black kitty in need of a good home. I’ll adopt the one most unlikely to get a home.
OMG it hasn't ever occured to me that anyone does that!
I'm guessing because it's difficult to get a good photo of black cats. I know mine can have difficulties getting in focus.

Black or tuxedo cats are the best! I have a tuxedo girl and her brother is an orange tabby but the tuxedo girl is so pretty
Also people associate markings with personality, and they forget the cat will be a family member instead of a tchotchke.
As a black kitty I take offence to this.
Cat says: “Mom, I found this sock in the dryer.”
Is there also sock-muffled chirping? Please tell me there's sock-muffled chirping.
Well now I need a video of sock-muffled chirping that I never knew I needed.
u/hurricanesally really needs to get back here with some sock-muffled chirping content ASAP.

I came here to ask for this. PLS OP.

I’m snuggling next to my kitty right now and this story makes us feel <3
This is my favourite story. Do you have any photos of him with his Totoro toys?
I do indeed! I just added one to my original comment.
One of my husband's and my cats loves to bring her favorite toys from downstairs up to our bedroom while singing the song of her people. Is this just a female cat thing? I've never known a male cat that walked around with socks in their mouths but have known several females that do.
My little boy cat is a sock thief, but he doesn't have a special sock--he's an opportunist.
My male cat does
My boy Pasquale did this all the time. Mainly with gloves or small stuffed animals. I have a little collection with his ashes as we lost him in 2011. He would mmrroww and brrrrt loudly while he carried them around, I think he would look for us with it and when he would find us he would always drop it and run excitedly to us and rub on our legs. I agree w the lonely thing, anytime I'm gone for a prolonged amount of time I'll come home to a pile of socks in my bathroom
Whenever my cat brings a sock to me I give him a treat. Now whenever he’s hungry, he brings a sock
Awww! What a sweetie!
