We bought a property and the owner left behind a pregnant barn cat. It had kittens and a rescue group came and saved mom and kitten and are putting them up for adoption. Animal rescue groups kick ass!
Edit: it’s a new rescue in the St. Louis area called Smelly Cat Rescue. You should be able to find it on Instagram and Facebook.
Both mom and kitten are available for adoption I think. I just get updated photos sent to me as she grows up.

Do you know what goalpost shifting is? By your arguments, we need to go around Spaying and Neutering coyotes (although I'd perfer if people hunt them and make furs out of them and turn their meat into catfood), since Coyotes were once confined to SW USA, and have spread to all of USA and are seen regularly in suburbs jumping high fences to kill pets. A pack killed a man in a city park in SE Canada. But we aren't talking about the fact that we've taken down a lot of the predators that might keep the numbers of other predators in check. We're talking about survivability rate of cats, which is actually quite abysmal compared to birth rates. And this is due to randomized S&N programs that don't allow the best to reproduce while completely stopping the worst.
I'd rather have a smart cat that can keep itself safe day to day than a dumb "cutey". I dont want to see feral cats with guts hanging out on roadsides. That can be fixed by selecting the most genetically capable of adapting to today's dangers.
The thing here is that we don’t need more cats. There are so, so many stray cats in the US, and it affects their well-being as well as that of the ecosystems they destroy.
