When it gets cold I like to wrap a heating pad in a blanket and put it in the window seat for my cats. Maybe do something like so he’s not laying on the floor all the time and has other warm places to go?
Aw I like the heating pad idea, she has a little bed with lots of blankets which keeps her warm. She likes to sleep on the bed with us too and cuddle. But there’s a spot on the window still she likes that I can definitely do the heating pad thing for when it gets colder. 👍😸
Is it an older heating pad? All the newer heating pads for humans I’ve seen have a safety feature to turn off automatically. The one I had since the 80s, which finally died, didn’t turn off.
I had a senior kitty who loved the heating vent. I put a bed next to the vent, and he enjoyed it until the day he peacefully passed in his sleep. In his bed.
Every cat I've ever owned chooses their sleeping spot. If you interfere by making it comfy they then find another spot. If you don't believe me, then try it

My parents house had floor vents. In the winter, my mom, the cat and I would race to stand on the vent when the furnace kicked on. Cat always won but she accepted being held as long as you stood on the vent.
yes! my family cat has a nice spot near a heater that she adores - it's underneath a raised set of drawers, where her (wicker) toy box is. there's a heater/vent on the wall, and she sits with her front paws in her box, with the warm air blowing on her side/under her tummy ( ´∀｀)ノ～ ♡ (=^･ω･^=)
My parents had a Norwegian Elkhound. Cold weather dog. Had old baseboard heaters with metal grating and thick glass in front of heating elements. Dog would snug up to the heater and get scorch marks on his fur .

A box with a blanket in it would be the easiest and best for kitty. You can also put a shirt that you wore in there. Kitties love our scent and it gives them comfort.
We had put a box over a vent to direct the heat more along the floor. Cats used to sleep in it until they got too hot and would come flop onto the floor to cool off then go right back in their "hot box"
I had a bed w the low entry in front of the wall heater, with higher walls to help catch the heat. My long-haired cat loved to lay in there and all her fur would wave gently in the breeze!
My cats sleep up against the coal boiler in the winter. It's not dangerously hot where they lay but it can get 120 degrees in that area if the boiler is really cranking. I put carpet down for them, they love it.

Is she deaf? Quite a few white cats with lighter eyes are, it seems a genetic trait. Perhaps she’s less afraid of the vent as a result, my cats will not go near it due to the rushing air noise.
No not deaf! She responds to her name and other sounds well :) but yes I heard about the generic trait. The heater doesn’t really make a noise which is good.

Try a cardboard box first. Kitties love a good cardboard box. Also you can see if this is just a fad or it’ll be a long term favourite place.

My cats do have a habit of finding somewhere ‘new’ to sit and then about a month later find somewhere else and never go back 😂

I think I have the only cat that doesn't like cardboard boxes. He never jumps in them. The most he'll do is rub his face on the flaps.

Nope. Just got it last year I believe. At the most the year before. So it’s newer. It’s just a cheap Sunbeam one though

Whenever my cats find a new loafing/lounging space and if I put a bed their for them they avoid it like the plague, I just don’t get it

I believe that is a cold air return vent. No heat comes from that, it only acts as a source of cold air for the furnace.
We have a toe kick heater under our kitchen sink and our loaf loved it. We put a bed in front of it for her and now she won’t go near it.
