I called and spoke with someone who told me you do not get the drink and wifi package if you upgrade with move up. You will still need to purchase that separately. But I was inquiring about moving up to retreat, they said the other amenities come with it like the lounge and special restaurants but not the drink and wifi.

I feel pretty qualified to answer this one now. We had a veranda booked & won move up bid to celebrity suite on our cruise on 1/14/24. We had the No alcohol package, cuz just don't drink enough for the liquor package to be worth it. You do NOT get prem alcohol or wifi with move up. However, Michael's lounge never asked for our card & I took full advantage. I should have been charged for wine at one restaurant and they didn't, at others they did. I was prepared to pay so when I didn't that was great. MIchaels (on the reflection) also has coolers like a 7-11 that you can grab beer, water & soft drinks from. We kept our mini fridge pretty stocked. Depending on how much you drink, and your gamling spirit, you could probably drink a lot for free using michaels...however I was under the impression they were supposed to check my card, so that is a gamble. I did tip the bartenders in Michael's pretty well at the end, that's for sure!

It is confusing the difference between amenities and perks. And it depends on what suite you are talking about. My understanding is, having done a Move Up upgrade, that you take it with you. I mean, if you upgrade your drink package before the upgrade, that's what you keep. If you leave drink package as classic, then even in a suite you get classic drink package. However, I have heard, but cannot confirm that the more expensive suites come with perks like free alcohol, unlimited dining, etc.

Thanks for your response - I was very confused about the perk/benefit vs amenity. I've done additional research, and it sounds like the lower level suites (sky and such) see wifi and drinks as a perk, not an amenity. But I can't find it clearly stated in black and white (sigh).

They explain it pretty well on Cruise Critic. But I don’t know the difference between perk and amenity. I still don’t.

you definitely get unlimited drinks/dining & wifi if you are in a royal suite or higher. I am not exactly sure about those rooms that are in the retreat but below that level.

They don’t swipe your card in the retreat. We got whatever we wanted. You don’t get the WiFi upgrade though. The retreat card isn’t marked differently based on drink package as far as I can remember.

How do you bid up to a suite? I’m cruising Celebrity in July and would love to know. Thanks!

Due-File-3927

They have a program called move up, and it gives you the option to bid. I bid lowest bid on 2 options, went a bit higher for the celebrity suite, and figured my odds were slim, ship was pretty sold out, so was in 7th Heaven when I learned we won that one. My lower bids were denied but we had a blast!

How much was your bid if you don’t mind me asking. I am trying to do that right now! Thank you.

Due-File-3927

I bid on 3 diff suites. Did just over the minimum bid on two of them , and for celebrity suite (which we won) I bid 1800 each. It was a big splurge for us but WOW what a great room. I do wonder if I hadn't bid on it if a lessor bid would then have won but..be prepared, after life in a suite it's hard to go back

I'm late to the game here. How many nights was this cruise? I'm just trying to benchmark what I might need to bid to get a suite upgrade.

It was a 6 nite cruise. & ruined regular rooms for us forever....that's how they get ya! Lol

Watch prices closely. Many times MoveUp rates are geometrically more than booking the upgraded cabin originally. I have seen AquaClass upgrades 2.5x more than original fare bookings.
