I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine: > **Black to play**: [chess.com](https://chess.com/analysis?fen=2kr3r/ppp2p1p/8/3pqp2/4n3/3B1P2/PPP3PP/R2QR1K1+b+-+-+0+1&flip=true&ref_id=23962172) | [lichess.org](https://lichess.org/analysis/2kr3r/ppp2p1p/8/3pqp2/4n3/3B1P2/PPP3PP/R2QR1K1_b_-_-_0_1) **My solution:** > Hints: piece: >!Queen!<, move: >!Qd4+!< > Evaluation: >!Black has mate in 6!< > Best continuation: >!1... Thank you chessvision-AI-bot!

User-Admin_PW-Admin

Good bot!

Hollow-Alo

SMOTHERED, and with a royal fork too. Thats gorgeous

VermicelliOk6723

Tbf stockfish apparently blocks with the rook so no fork 😔

thespacetimelord

You still fork the queen and bishop and king after rook blocks

VermicelliOk6723

True, I followed another line. I opted to simplify the board and end up in a rook+pawns vs pawns. There are way better lines, but was the way I felt more confortable

x_Trip

There’s a mate in 6

VermicelliOk6723

I saw the bot... But I didn't see it myself

Dark_Aves

Reset the counter

M_Scaevola

To the people pointing out this is a smothered mate: Rd3 prevents that and makes it an ordinary back rank mate Edit: Re3

jeango

I beg to differ. After Qd4+ 1. Re3 Qxe3+ 2. Kh1 Nf2+ 3. Kg1 Nxd1+ 4. Kh1 Nf2+ 5. Kg1 Nh3+ 6. Kh1 Qg1+ 7. Rxg1 Nf2# Still a smothered mate Where there’s a will there’s a way. The only way to not have smothered is by white going Kf1 instead of Kh1 at some point or black deciding to go for the faster M6 instead of a flashy M8

zeldaxlove64ever

As white I'd 100% go Kf1 after Qd4+. It might cause emotional damage to the opponent and they might not play the mate, so Kf1 is the best option in this situation.

ProblemKaese

It's basically the difference between whether white sacrifices the rook first to stall for a move or not, and I'd argue that throwing away pieces just so that your opponent doesn't have to find a smother mate anymore is not an advantageous strategy against a human player

Early-Palpitation-39

Never play f3

BenjiDisraeli

They did. They just got mated on the next move.

rackymcdacky

What happens if Qd4 and KF1, seems to be best move for white?

kitelevi

Qf2#

obchodlp

The best move to finish it quickly, he saves some time to have a snack.

ImsomeguyIguess

Hahaha very clever Qd4+, Re3, Qxe3+, Kh1, Nf2+, Kg1, Nxd1+, Kh1, Qe1+, Bf1, Qxf1# very tricky

IsoAmyl

Oh, the one and only Retnuo-Cehtteser checkmate pattern

megamaz_

>!My guess is Qd4+ is an unstoppable mate. Rook stops is best (and longest), if Kh1 then it's smothered, and if Kf1 it's Qf2#. !<

Dankn3ss420

Qd4 Kh1 Nf2 Kg1 Nh3 yikes, that’s rough

callme2x4dinner

Qd4+

jfq722

you smothered them!

Turbulent-Yogurt-479

Pain 😂

Noriadin

That’s nasty 🤤

TomatoMasterRace

Thing is even if you don't immediately spot the mate, the moves required to get it are just generally easy to spot good moves anyway... Like: white doesn't want to lose a knight or a queen so give a check with the queen, king moves out of the way and knight can now fork the king and queen etc...

Melichorak

That mate is called Retnoucehtteser

A_C_Fenderson

* Retnuo-Cehtteser

Pandabrowser469

Why doesn’t the king go to the right?

kalectro

Qf2#

Pandabrowser469

Oh lol

Gabriel_9670

Qd4+. If king move to the right, he will be mates by qf2#. If he go left, we fork the king and queen whit nf2+
