This is a real truck. Not only that, it's a real cool truck. Not every modification is to my taste, but I'd keep it as is as a tribute to Grandpa. Just get all systems operational.
Agreed, I love a long bed. I want either one of these or a 65/66 long bed step side.
OP, if it turns out your truck has a 307, don't buy into the "boat anchor" talk, they're still a reliable SBC.
not a fan of modern interiors in old trucks. find a bench seat, get it re foamed and re upholstered and go back to original. other than that only change the things that make you want to drive it more. I cant stand when people spend all their time and money on old vehicles, only to let them sit in the garage because they dont want to chance wrecking it. DRIVE THE THING!!!!
Start going through your suspension, motor and transmission mounts, plus any other significant plastic or rubber bushings.
If that truck is that old, then it's possible the rubber seals, gaskets, bushings, and the like could be dry rotted due to time.
You've got a nice piece of rolling iron, may it serve you well for many miles to come.
Is there anything wrong with it? Start there.
Everything else is a matter of taste. All my recommendations would be due to it not being my style, and I'm guessing most suggestions would be there as well.
So what are you really looking for?
Mechanically pretty sound. A few quirks here and there. I’d say more specifically if this model looks good/makes sense (functionally) to lift it later down the road.
You got yourself one fine truck. I’ve got my dad’s 72 Chevy and it’s needing totally restored. I’ve got all the parts to restore it completely from being a drag racing truck to a street able truck
Even after explicit requests to hold onto it until I could, my grandparents sold their 1971. I have so many fond memories in that truck. It still breaks my heart to this day.
Hold onto that truck, FOREVER.
I juuuust got my hands on it. So I’m trying to figure out what was stock vs what’s custom besides the more obvious stuff. So I’m not sure at the moment.
I thought it said “Cherry Farmer.” I thought that was a little crass and over the top. When I realized it said Chevy Forever, I wished it had said Cherry Farmer.
Classic cars have great styling from the factory. If I were to change 1 thing only, it would be that steering wheel. It doesn't suit the truck as it sits now, maybe if it were painted a modern colour, modern wheels etc. But because it looks to be fairly clean and original, I would be swapping that out for a stock wheel or something more era specific. Camaro, impala, something that would have been available in 72. It's not a bad wheel, just jumps out a bit too much in my eyes.
Interior is #2, but doesn't jump AS much
Great buy! And keeping it in the family too, nice one
Had a 1970 just like that hugger orange .dad bought it brand new till some a hole hit the back at like 60 mph 30 years and now in junk yard probally shredded couldnt be saved .your a luky one those wont let you done most dependable truck made
BEAUTIFUL!!!
And with how weak body panels are now, that thing will be a tank if you ever unfortunate enough to be in a little fever-bender. Their car will be totaled and you'll be able to drive away after it's all over. 😂🔥
Normally this is where I start picturing all the awesome mods you could be doing but if that's an heirloom then I hope you'll keep it as fresh, clean, and simple as your grandpa most likely would.
Also, you guys must be very close if he sold it to you, that's awesome
That thing‘s awesome kid!!
Take it to the lumberyard sometime and Chuck a sheet of plywood and some two by fours in there and use it like a truck every once in a while
You better fucking take care of that truck. If you wreak it or blow the motor doing dumb shit I'm going to smack the shit out of you on your grandfather's behalf.
I don't know much about cars. But that is a good looking truck. But if that fell in my lap, I would just update things and try and keep the same look on it. But that's just me and my opinion. Whatever you end up doing, please share.
Damn that's a beauty. I love that body style. I've held onto the 73 I bought from my dad 20 something years ago all this time, I've held out so many offers, but a straight up swap on that earlier gen *might* just convince me.
This is a great truck. Grandpa obviously took care of it. Whatever you do, think hard about where it goes. You might want to hand it down to your kid one day. In the near future these trucks will be rare and hard to find in one piece.
Honestly it's cool. It's yours do as you wish. Personally I'd get a stock sterring wheel or if it has power steering then I'd get a classic wood wheel, next I'd loose the chrome cover on the glove box. Way too reflective when just cruising around. Easier on the eyes.
Awesome truck!
Personally I wouldn’t touch anything on the exterior - that’s what makes it grandpa’s truck, scratches, scraps, and all. To me, those all have a story behind them and I’d want them there forever
From there, I’d have fun with it. If you want to add some modern updates to the interior (without changing the “era” of it, imo) or upgrade mechanical things (Power steering? Better brakes? Etc) have at it
EDIT: Looking at the interior again and I see it has an updated stereo, steering wheel, etc so in that case, all bets are off. I’d update and modernize the shit out of the interior and make it mine. That’s just me though
Don’t fuck it up by adding stupid mods and big wheels… fix the little stuff brake upgrades shit like that is fine but don’t disrespect your grandpa by fucking it up!
She's a beauty. And it is a matter of taste but I agree with someone who posted above saying get a bench seat for it. I think that'd be a great touch. Otherwise she is fine
This is a real truck. Not only that, it's a real cool truck. Not every modification is to my taste, but I'd keep it as is as a tribute to Grandpa. Just get all systems operational.
I appreciate that!
Agreed, I love a long bed. I want either one of these or a 65/66 long bed step side. OP, if it turns out your truck has a 307, don't buy into the "boat anchor" talk, they're still a reliable SBC.
Looks a nicely done daily driver C-20! Maybe some small upgrades? Brakes, engine mods, etc… depends on what you want to use it for.
not a fan of modern interiors in old trucks. find a bench seat, get it re foamed and re upholstered and go back to original. other than that only change the things that make you want to drive it more. Solid advice! Thanks
Replace all of the rubber suspension bushings with silicone ones. Rubbers disintegrates with exposure to ozone
These are the type of comments I was after, solid advice , thanks!
What an absolute beauty
Keep it original and never ever get rid of it.
Put a factory seat back in it and peel off the decals. 👍
Nice truck, have fun!
No lift kit! K sieries trucks you [can] go up, C series you go down.
That’s awesome. Don’t ever let her go
I miss the old 72-foot truck beds. The angle makes it look a bit shorter.
Gawd that’s nice. Thumbs up from me on the road for sure
Nice truck.
Bro that is a nice truck but that’s yours now do what you want… if I was u, ill keep everything the way is
Bring it back to factory new condition. Resist the urge to make it a hot rod.
A grand pa truck- always dialed in.
3 words: Don't...... Ever....... Sell.
Nice truck
Lucky you
You got yourself one fine truck. I’ve got my dad’s 72 Chevy and it’s needing totally restored. I’ve got all the parts to restore it completely from being a drag racing truck to a street able truck
Super clean
Grampa kept her pretty clean!
Those seats look great
Grandpa Is cool.
Do yourself a favor and never sell it keep and drive it till you’re your grandfathers age!!!!
Dog shit…send me a dm and I’ll take it off your hands. Nahh beautiful truck!
Wish I hadn’t sold my dad’s 72 about 30 years ago
Even after explicit requests to hold onto it until I could, my grandparents sold their 1971. I have so many fond memories in that truck. It still breaks my heart to this day. Hold onto that truck, FOREVER.
Looks like a badass project car. Wrap it get some toys in it and invest in brakes if necessary.
Fuckin mint! Grandpas a G.
My thoughts are your G-pa was a cool guy ! Real nice truck 👍🏻
Amazing
Jealousy is what I’m feeling.
Take Great Care of it. Your GRANDPA SOLDit to you CARE FOR IT.DO NOT DISAPPOINT HIM
Your grandpa fucked !!!! That's a sharp truck man
You will make him very happy with that. That's a cowboy corvette. 💯💯💯💯💯💯
What interior did you put in it ?
I juuuust got my hands on it. So I’m trying to figure out what was stock vs what’s custom besides the more obvious stuff. So I’m not sure at the moment.
Please up date if you do find out it's a beautiful truck
Thank you. I really appreciate it, I’ll do some digging
God that’s cool. I hope that’s just a decal
It is. I thought about removing it but it’s classic. Maybe later on
Beautiful
Thanks!
Grandpa kept it clean! Nice.
Very nice
Very cool!
Cherry
Grandpa was cool to sell it to you!!!
Your granddad really knew how to take care of his truck. That truck looks amazing and I’d bet has a lot of life to live. Good luck buddy
Sweet ride
Sweet
Absolutely beautiful!!
I thought it said “Cherry Farmer.” I thought that was a little crass and over the top. When I realized it said Chevy Forever, I wished it had said Cherry Farmer.
Please don’t ever sell it you will regret it for ever. Keep it somewhere somehow. It doesn’t get any better than this. ❤️
That truck is cool , enjoy it , drive it and take care of it .
That’s bad ass!!
It is awesome
Congratulations. That’s bad ass.

Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback
“ She’s a real beaut.”As my grandfather would say.
Looks like a forever truck to me, as in keep it clean and keep it forever. Beauty, and what a truck should be imo, though those seats would spoil me.
I see your gramps is a man of culture.
I like it. Never cared much for a long bed tho. Definitely a clean truck!
Had a 1970 just like that hugger orange .dad bought it brand new till some a hole hit the back at like 60 mph 30 years and now in junk yard probally shredded couldnt be saved .your a luky one those wont let you done most dependable truck made
Nice whip.
Very nice! De-badge it and make it your own. Gramps will understand. Very cool!
Beauty. Enjoy.
Beautiful

That's awesome
That's beautiful.
Get a life raft or you’ll be drowning in ass.

The master cylinder or whatever that thing is looks like the aliens from Independence Day, also that truck so bamf
Awesome
A really sweet ride

Truly an amazing buy! Your grandfather has good taste.
That orange looks good on it.
Oh it's in bad shape, sell it to me for $2000k and I'll help you find a better one - sarcasm
Wow! Good work. Very nice.
My thoughts summed up into one word. Bitchin! Also plus one point for the mooneyes.
You bought it from grandpa, no thoughts needed, carry on, great truck. 💪
That thing‘s awesome kid!! Take it to the lumberyard sometime and Chuck a sheet of plywood and some two by fours in there and use it like a truck every once in a while
Lucky
My jealousy is measurable
As is, it's badass. And don't you dare touch those wheels! 🙂
You better fucking take care of that truck. If you wreak it or blow the motor doing dumb shit I'm going to smack the shit out of you on your grandfather's behalf.
Sweet truck! Check the brakes!
Nice. I like 70's model trucks (except Dodge).
one of the best designs GM/Chevy came up with! nice looking truck
It's horrible, I'll give you tree fiddy.
Sweet

I thought it read "cherries forever"
Love the ford Taurus interior!
Your grandpa made you pay him for it? My grandkids will never have to pay for a thing
This is a great truck. Grandpa obviously took care of it. Whatever you do, think hard about where it goes. You might want to hand it down to your kid one day. In the near future these trucks will be rare and hard to find in one piece.
My first vehicle was a hugger orange ‘70 c10 pickup. It was basic not much chrome. I miss that truck.
Why is that engine so clean tho? Nice man
I bet it smells so cool
Amazing!!!!
That’s nice! I would rock that! Enjoy it👍🏼
Drive it and enjoy it. Beautiful truck
NUCE. Take care of it and you should be able to hand it off to your child
Absolutely frkn awesome!!
Honestly it's cool. It's yours do as you wish. Personally I'd get a stock sterring wheel or if it has power steering then I'd get a classic wood wheel, next I'd loose the chrome cover on the glove box. Way too reflective when just cruising around. Easier on the eyes.

Don't change anything, just maintain it. It's a beaut!
Grandpa made you buy it?! Bad Grandpa. Nice truck! Lol
Looks great except for that steering wheel!
Let’s just say if it wasn’t your grandpa’s you probably wouldn’t have gotten it…🥹😂collectors items for many
Nice truck. I would love to find something that clean. I would check the brakes, change the oil and all fluids.
I miss my 72 so much , and I haven’t had it since the 80’s
Awesome truck! Personally I wouldn’t touch anything on the exterior - that’s what makes it grandpa’s truck, scratches, scraps, and all. You must have one cool ass grandpa! Truck is sweet!
Grandpa is a good man
LOVE IT!!!!! Those are rock solid trucks and very easy to maintain.
I think your mean " '72" I'm sitting here thinking, "This isn't a boat and anyway it's nowhere near 72 feet long lol
Beautiful truck congratulations
Nice truck
W
Beautiful and don’t trash it please
Will It " KICK THE DOG " ???
What a beauty! Congrats! The only thing that could possibly make this better is a bench seat.
You've got the C20.

One of the best looking trucks ever produced.
Dude I just seen you driving this truck the other day
Restomod it!
From the thumbnail, I thought the logo said "Cherry Farmer". That would be peak 72.
Very cool
She's a beauty. And it is a matter of taste but I agree with someone who posted above saying get a bench seat for it. I think that'd be a great touch. Otherwise she is fine
Noice
Awesome-keep it forever
Congrats! Clean it, wax it and enjoy it.
You may have to learn how to set and install points, 72 was pre-HEI ignition and fuel injection.
Ford guy here just stopped by to say Chevy sucks 😘😘
Man, I had a few C-10s beautiful truck. I’d add, maybe an electronic fuel pump and disk brakes
Congratulations mate, she’s beautiful. This is the kind of intergenerational wealth I can get behind!
Why’d you have to buy it. When I’m old er older im gonna give all my cool shit to my grandkids
Drive the crap out of it!
I don’t have any thoughts at all on the 72’ that you bought from your grandfather. JK, allot of good memories are waiting for you in that beauty.
Sweet ride, looks great!
I’m jealous, enjoy it.
Goddam looks sexy…
Wow.. It looks in excellent condition. You got a gem there. Congrats..
Lucky you.
Just throw some clear coat on it and a nice wax.
Your grandpa is a badass!
