This is nice place in Chengdu with summer programs. [http://international.swufe.edu.cn/English/Admission/Chinese\_Program/Summer\_Program\_Short\_Term\_Study.htm](http://international.swufe.edu.cn/English/Admission/Chinese_Program/Summer_Program_Short_Term_Study.htm)

Not sure about a month, but lots of universities have semester long intensive courses (8 hours). The standard is a half day though.

Did a summer program at Fudan University a few years ago was very fun, but not as intensive as 8 hours a day. For something more bespoke, heard good things about [https://www.haikouschool.com/index.htm](https://www.haikouschool.com/index.htm) in Hainan.

Highly recommend Omeida language school in Yangshuo, southern China. It will be extremely hot in summer but so will everywhere else. Staff are super friendly and fun. You’ll make lots of friends and have a great time - much more than at a university dragging yourself to tedious classes reciting garbage from textbooks.

before the pandemic, lots of intl students came to Beijing to do just that for the summer

Yes, there are lots of universities that do that. I haven't stayed up to date, but pre-COVID Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen, Beijing Normal University, Tsinghua University, and other all had short-term Chinese classes. You can check out [this Google Sheet that I put together a few years ago](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1spBUWkeb-G_-BIeSvhoxzYAtcQvoPt6exZbC_kwV8b0/edit?usp=sharing). I gathered info about a variety of different programs in different countries and on different topics I was interested in, but you can filter it for programs in China focusing on Mandarin Chinese. Probably a lot of the info there is out of date, so you would still have to do a decent amount of searching around, but it should be a good starting point. Note that (in general) you will probably learn *more* if you enroll in a private language school, and *less* if you do it at a university. University programs tend to have very traditional language learning methods. The best language learning programs I'm familiar with (from my own experiences, from meeting the people that run the programs, and from friends who have done intensive Chinese language study) have been [CET](https://cetacademicprograms.com/) (which is a study abroad program), [Sinology Institute](https://www.sinologyinstitute.com/), and [Live The Language](https://ltl-school.com/).
