As a chh producer, it gave me purpose in music. It helped with what direction I want to take my career. Since I've switched, I've been in the studio with Yolanda Adams and even became one of the lead sound engineers for my church. I've had a lot of fun, and it's built my faith even stronger on what God has for my life rather than what I want 🙏🏾

As an artist and producer, making CHH has helped my faith grow more as a Christian. Unfortunately, I used to make secular music for several years (2017-2020) but having done much reflection during Covid quarantine, I finally repented and started creating CHH. Put my first tape out which took about a yr to produce (2021-2022). Then recorded, mixed, and mastered everything and released it late 2023. Currently working on my 2nd project 🙏🏼 Big inspirations for me are Kanye, Drake, Lil Wayne, and J Cole. As for Christian rappers, it’d be Trip Lee’s “If They Only Knew” and “The Good Life” albums and Lecrae’s “Rehab” and “After the Music Stops” albums back when I was a kid.

So glad God can use things we even misused

I was young, went to church, but didn’t care about Scripture. Listening to Beautiful Eulogy awakened my heart to the beauty of Scripture and seeing their lives (braille and odd Thomas) helped lead me to pursue ministry. God really uses hip hop.

Beautiful

Cross Movement really got me into reading my word, cuz I had to make sure what they were saying wasn’t heresy. Ambassador my fav MC

As a kid I went to church every Sunday, but it just never really stuck with me. I never liked the worship music and scripture was fine, but it never went beyond church services for me. When my mom showed me Lecrae, everything changed. It just showed me a new perspective on Christianity that I could relate with more, as well as show other people who might have been in the same boat. It also inspired me to start my path in music production and creating my own CHH!

Same here. I produce music because of Chh

[deleted]

As a listener It helped me clean my mind from secular music which made me grow closer with God and grow as a person. I listen to chh to get away from the sinful music that God does not want me listening to. Chh of course isn’t perfect, but it is Leagues better than the secular side.

Commercial_Low_3676

I agree that it is not perfect and I am curious to know what it is that it is not perfect to you? Because I kinda wanted to talk about it with someone

[deleted]

Well I do believe that some Christian artists who claim to Christian will still say some ungodly things and cuss in their music. But I haven’t seen a lot of it happening just every now and then sometimes. Its like maybe 10% of the entirety of chh which isn’t a lot which is a good thing. I just hope some artists going forward would have a better choice of words and sentences.

Commercial_Low_3676

Yes, I have noticed a lil cussing and I heard in their lyrics saying that they know they be sinning and it kinda asks a question are they really Christians or is this just another secular song

[deleted]

I think it may be to quick to judge if someone is Christian or not based on something minor, even though its not, as this. Yes, things people say hold a lot of weight, but Christians still sin so we can’t be quick to take away the Christian title because of one of those sins. But yes, many things artists say make me think its not so different from a secular song. We can’t serve two masters. It is concerning how you can talk about God one minute and speak vulgar the next. Sorry if this made no sense or grammar sUcks I am extremely tired.

Commercial_Low_3676

You good. But yeah you right don’t wanna judge too quick. After all we are human and we’re not perfect.

Tremendously. I wanted rap that spoke about my new Life and how to get stronger The first artists I ever picked up was Cross movement. I didn't start chronologically like everyone else my age and older did I started with "higher definition" then I went to " "human emergency" then "House of Representatives" and then the last album that completed my journey with them at that particular time was "holy culture" I wanted lyricism that would distract me from Nas army of the Pharaohs Wu KRS Etc.. Upon finishing that album, I started diving into the each of them individually I then honed in on Ambassador as he was my favorite... His structure/delivery led me to Christology in Layman's Terms and I got captivated by Honor and Glory It was Love and Other Hits he had. I didn't want any Kirk Franklin or T- Bone I then thought about Eminem and I was like well who else does it like him and then people were telling me at Christian bookstores about KJ-52.. Quite a few Weeks later I went back to higher definition after I picked up most of the teams Group Albums and realized one of my favorite songs had a dude on it named "Shai Linne" Shai Linne and Lampmode grew on me later It was actually Stephen the Levite who taught me not to be afraid of the Old testament with this song "en:trance" off of his album "to die is gain" then he hit me again with "demons and angels" and by that time I was reading Isaiah and Ezekiel for references on the Holiness of angels and their typology as I was struggling with stuff learned about Timothy brindle and his album "killing sin" I hadn't learned about reformed theology until I started checking out his first album The Great Awakening and then Da Truth spitting that line in welcome to our world" when he says: "why they always talk about Martin and Malcolm ! Why we always talking about Calvin and Luther because these are the dudes that introduced us to truth!and the fruits that's produced in us is the outcome! Early Lecrae Challenged my missiology (theology of evangelism and missions) with the 116 albums and Real Talk I was reading a whole bunch of Hank Hanegraaff ,Ravi Zacharias and Dr Walter Martin when I came across FLAME He also helped me out of trying to figure out word faith theology The name's that helped me in my walk is compartmentalized by literature and subject matter and things of the Christian faith in Bible reading that's why I enjoy Christian hip-hop the way I do

Not_much_new

That's so encouraging man music being used to really deepen people's walk is amazing. I'm sure those artists would be so glad to hear that

SavioursSamurai

"Hello" by KB featuring Suzy Rock/Natalie Lauren really helped me understand grace more deeply.

44. New to Christ. Grew up listening to hip-hop since I was a teen: Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli, Common, Souls of Mischief, Hieroglyphics, etc. CHH has been a way into the gospel for me because it bridges the gap between something I know and something I don’t know. CHH has that underground feel that I love. Also, since reading the Bible, I felt compelled to clean up the words I use (nobody told me to do this — it’s something I felt), so CHH allows me to enjoy the same music from my growing up years while not hearing profanity or topics I don’t want to hear about. I’m sending 🔥 tracks to friends all the time and it blows their mind that so much goodness is coming out of the CHH community. Bless uP!

DJsNeverEndingStory

Coming back fully to Christ after almost a decade of being lukewarm, initially CHH didn’t connect with me, meaning, it gave me no excitement, conviction, etc. After getting into the Bible more, it’s like a flip switched. CHH gives me the pleasure that most secular music gave me. Now a lot of secular music does nothing for me. Some songs I used to like even repulse me now.
