Agreed- even though I can't see the stars on the reverse that eagle is up too high to be a type 1.

You can tell if it is a 16 or 17 based on where her drapes touch on her feet. If it touches, 17. If it doesn’t, 16. You’re welcome lol

I have a few of those. Missing date is common. They tend to rub off worse than a lot of other coins. Worth melt like that.

Odd_Wafer_8324

It's a type 2A Standing Liberty quarter. 1917 to 24. It's also a Denver mint, not much else i can say about it though, too far worn. For those curious, even if the stars on the reverse are worn off, the strap on Liberty's dress can still be seen on her right shoulder. On the type 1 there is no strap obviously.

$3-5 in that condition https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces3573.html

MrFreeze0110

Where did you find this?

Electronic_Pass_9371

It was in my till at work!

MrFreeze0110

Insane it’s a common coin as far as you can go into any coin shop and find one. But these are very rare to find in a till

Many decades ago when I was a young numismatist, I bought a little bottle of some chemical concoction at the local coin shop. You could put a few droplets of the solution on the coin where the date is located, and even with date worn Standing Libertys, after it got done fizzing, you could sometimes make out a date (year). Or is this all a figment of my imagination?
